Eilean Donan (Eilean Donnain) is a small tidal island where three sea lochs meet, Loch Duich, Loch Long and Loch Alsh, in the western Highlands of Scotland. A picturesque castle that frequently appears in photographs, film and television dominates the island, which lies about 1 kilometre from the village of Dornie. Since the castle's restoration in the early 20th century, a footbridge has connected the island to the mainland.
Looking east across Loch Dunvegan from near Dunvegan Head on the Isle of Skye's Duirinish Peninsula....
A little slice of the Trottenish Peninsula (somewhere in the region of Uig Bay) taken from the upper escarpment of Waternish Peninsula's Beinn an Squirr, above Loch Snizort.
First ferry of the day from Craignure, Mull, over to the mainland. A very early start! 6 sec exposure - it was quite windy...
Shore Cottage at Sailen Village on the Isle of Lismore Scotland, now lies abandoned but in years gone by this would have been part of a thriving community, with it’s own Shop, Harbour and Lime Kiln works where up until the late 1930s it was in full production. Scattered around the village are plenty of abandoned and ruined buildings of a past industrial era.
Eilean Ban lighthouse and the bridge to Skye..
From this perspective the bridge appears to have no beginning or end..
Walking along white strand beach towards the north of the Isle of Iona, Scotland ,I was accompanied by this magnificent sky.
I spent a few hours walking on the Applecross peninsula on Sunday and had noted the sun was due to set behind the Cuillin Mountains on Skye when viewed from the Bealach na Bà so headed home that way with time to spare.
The wind was howling over the high ground, it was impossible to hold the camera still and a struggle to stand up straight so I resorted to a very short handheld exposure to capture the rays as the sun headed for the hills.
This image is available printed, framed or on a canvas here.
Another image of the Cuillin mountains . This time taken from a boat on the waters between Skye and the nearby island of Raasay.

Situated near Glenbrittle on the Isle of Skye is this spectacular natural phenomenon of multiple waterfalls, seemingly vibrant blue & green in color, with cold swimmable pools. These magical pools are overlooked by some spectacular scenery including the Black Cuillin mountains.

** We took a boat trip from the pretty harbour of Portree to see if we could get the chance to view some White tailed Sea eagles.
Portree is the biggest settlement on the Isle of Skye with a population of about 10,000. Interestingly the administrative body for the area is in Inverness away on the East coast

Generations of Monks would’ve walked these open corridors of the inner abbey. Looks like a monk’s ghost at the end of this one.
While on the drive to the Isle of Skye we stopped at the side of Loch Duich for a quick few snaps of this old boat tied up and probably not much use to anyone anymore . Another very scenic area with glorious mountain ranges surrounding it.
Land of the fairies - The magical fairy pools descending Coire na Creiche with the Black Cuillin living up to its name and looking dark and ominous as ever. The distinctive pyramidal pinnacle of Sgurr an Fheadain presides centre stage over this enchanted landscape.
No fairies were harmed in the making of this image :)
