And Jesus said, Father, let them have forgiveness, for they have no knowledge of what they are doing,
*ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς ἔλεγεν, πάτερ ἄφες αὐτοῖς οὐ γὰρ οἴδασιν τί ποιοῦσιν,
Some of you might not know the new testament was written in ancient Greek,
even I have trouble translating it:-)

My son planted this in his garden when his best friend died from a brain tumour a few years ago. In the hole where he planted it, he put his friends favourite chocolate bar and various other memorabilia, and every Spring it produces these amazing blooms! For Adam....
I will be gone to a funeral most of the day and will comment when I return. My dear friend, Roger (Old Pro on here) died suddenly this past Sunday. He was also my real estate agent, so that has all been put on hold for now. Please remember his family in your prayers. You will be missed Grumpy.

Addio Enzo Biagi).

Walking along the endless porticos of Bologna, recalling a noisy absence.
This image in memory of Pier Paolo Pasolini, who was born in "a city full of porticos", not too many years ago, after all.
What you see should not be dissimilar from what his eyes recorded in the early years of life.
On last November the 2nd were 32 years without Piero Paolo Pasolini.
They ripped him from life, only the biological one.
They will never be able to kill his thoughts.
(This image also in memory of another great man born in Bologna, died this morning.
Farewell Enzo Biagi).

In memory of those who have died in the line of serving our country so that we may all enjoy the freedom that we treasure so dearly ... THANK YOU!
The American bald eagle, known for its majestic strength, seemed like a perfect choice to post on this Memorial Day in the US. It's our national bird and one that has struggled through many challenges in its survival, yet remains strong and free.
I love the way in which this eagle sits quietly on the rocky beach shoreline keenly aware of everything going on around it, yet seemingly lost in a reflective moment. This shot was taken in Homer, AK in 2014.
Thanks for stopping by to view and especially for sharing your thoughts and comments along the way,

Song: "Somewhere Over the Rainbow"
Lyrics
"Ohhhhh yeaaa
Mmmm
Somewhere over the rainbow,
Way up high.
There's a land that I've heard of,
Once in a lullaby.
Somewhere over the rainbow,
Skies are blue.
And the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true.
Someday I wish upon a star, (someday I wish upon a star)
Where the clouds are far far far behind me
(And wake up where the clouds are far behind me)
Where.
All my troubles melt like lemon drops.
Way above the chimney tops, (way above the chimney tops)
That is where you will find me.
Somewhere over the rainbow,
Bluebirds fly.
If birds can fly over over the rainbow,
Then why, then why can't I
(Bids fly high, why can't I)
Ohh wahy ohhh why ohhh why ohhh
(If birds fly high, why can't I)
If every little bluebirds fly (if every bird fly)
Over the rainbow,
Somebody tell me why, somebody tell me
(If bids fly high, why can't I)
Why can't I."

Our Queen Elizabeth rose in bloom and posted in memory of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II who sadly passed away on Thursday 09/08/22
May she rest in peace and be reunited with her beloved Prince Phillip.❤️. The Queen Elizabeth rose is indeed fit for a queen, so it is no surprise to learn it was specifically developed for one. In 1954 Dr. Walter Lammerts, an American, cultivated the Queen Elizabeth rose in celebration of Queen Elizabeth’s 1953 coronation.
The Queen Elizabeth is a cross between the ‘Charlotte Armstrong’, and a Floribunda, the ‘Floradora.’ Resultantly, the Grandiflora Queen Elizabeth has long stems reminiscent of a hybrid tea but can also have multiple blooms like a Floribunda. The Queen Elizabeth is considered the first real grandiflora rose.
I received some sad news today that my ex-husband's mother died peacefully in her sleep at the grand old age of 94 years. We have kept in touch since my first marriage broke up and after surviving two bouts of breast cancer - one in her 30s and the next just before her 80th birthday, she is proof that miracles can and do happen. Her husband used to love pelicans and before he died 20 years ago, he told her that whenever she saw a pelican, that it would be him watching over her.

You may have only lived 18 years, but you made those 18 years count. This was suppose to be your next bomb, I love you Paul "Erie" Gomez.
In memory of our little girl, Willow, who passed away today peacefully in her sleep. She would have been 15 years old in August. We will miss her so much, and so will the members of "the people," as we call our zoo here.
Willow is NOT kin to any of the other tuxedo cats at our house! Remarkable so many ended up here from different places!
I found Teak last night at the foot of an angel statue I have near our porch ~ he had passed away. Teak came to us on Oct. 4, 2008,from a shelter in Birmingham AL ~ came to us because his time had run out at the pound and he was scheduled to be put to sleep. He was a happy boy here from the moment he arrived and he will be greatly missed.
Winter is on my head, but eternal spring is in my heart.

und für die vielen Verletzten.....
Seen in Chiswick House gardens in West London, this reminded me of the song...
Taken with a Carl Zeiss Jena Biotar T 58/2.
It's been awhile since I've posted on flickr. As I welcomed in the New Year, I took time also to reflect upon 2015. It's always a very important time for me to think about what the past years experiences were ... geographically, but more importantly spiritually, emotionally, and personally. It is at that point that one can look forward to the new year ... goals, strategies, challenges, all the while knowing that you must keep an open mind for the unexpected. More on that in just a few.
One of the most beautiful places for sunrise photography in south Florida is from Cutler Bay ... specifically the Deering Estate. It's not often that the estate grounds are open for sunrise photo shoots, so I always anticipate them. As you can see, the views are amazing ... those gorgeous royal palm tree lines landscaping leading out to the bay on the calmest of days too. Sure we could have used more of those puffy white clouds, but it didn't matter. Departing quite early in the morning to arrive an hour before official sunrise on this fall equinox, knowing that the sun should rise right in the center of lined trees, all add to the excitement. Each time I've been there for this event, it's always been very different, but always beautiful.
As I eluded to before, sometimes life throws us a curveball that we didn't plan for. It's hard to say why and often difficult to accept. We struggle to make sense of it all. We search for the right words, vow to stay strong, and offer support as best as we can. As hard as it is for me, I know that it has been immensely harder for my best friend ... since childhood. I dedicate this image to the memory of her husband and remind her and her family that new days will dawn and celebrating the happy memories of loved ones will help in the healing. RIP CLS.
To everyone who has read this far into the image story ... Life is short and our time in this world is unknown. Live life to the fullest, make happy memories with friends and family, don't be afraid or otherwise remiss in telling those whom you care about exactly how much you love them and what they mean to you. You never know when your chances to do so will run out. That being said, my flickr family and friends are so amazing and I appreciate all of you. :-)
Thanks so much for stopping by to view and for sharing your thoughts and comments.

Today I lost a dear Flickr and Facebook friend. For eight years we commented on each others photos, Flickr-mailed each other, and were part of a group of seven gals on Facebook, spread throughout the world, who have a chat group and have been there for each other through thick and thin. She always had a kind word and could be so funny.
She showed everybody her wonderful city, Budapest, and was able to make us feel as if we have traveled there. She shared her extensive collection of family photos with us and let us know these people throughout many years of her family history. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandma. She was beautiful and had tremendous knowledge of art, music, books, and architecture. Seeing photos of some of the recipes she's posted, she was a fabulous cook and I plan to make one of her recipes in her memory.
This photo of the Tualatin River, taken in 1911 in Oregon, is lacking one thing; it's serene and beautiful, but it doesn't express the color and life that was Nori. She fought a brave battle with her second bout of cancer, but it won out in the end.
I'll miss you Nori and will carry you in my heart.

I've been playing tennis at this park for many many years... this past winter, we had a storm and an evergreen tree was uprooted and is now on the ground near the entrance of the tennis courts... A few days ago, i noticed there was this cherry blossom tree in blooming right outside the tennis court... so after playing, I went back home and got my camera to take this shot... As I was walking around, I decided to take a look at the uprooted evergreen... and right around the base of it, i saw a metal plaque securely staked to the ground... On it, it said "in memory of Brett Michael Williams... 1970-1986"... He was just a teenager when he passed away... I wondered what had happened to him. I was amazed how i hadn't seen his plaque after years and years playing tennis there with my son... Brett's been seeing this cherry blossoms for more than 30 years now... Since the evergreen is now uprooted, i will name this cherry blossom tree Brett from now on.
“Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy.” (Eskimo Quote)
This week I got the message that John (Petrick) passed away 2 months ago and it makes me sad. It is the fourth contact of mine here on flickr who died and all had to go much too early :(.
John was a contact since three years. I love his great photos and it was always a pleasure to see his adorable little son Jack growing up! I appreciated John's kind comments and his sense of humour. Thank you John for your Flickr friendship, I will miss you, may you rest in peace!
My deepest condolence to his family and friends.

Today is extra special — JJ turns 14 years old, and it’s only our second year celebrating his birthday together.
It’s also my late dad’s birthday. He passed away in 2022, and sharing this day with JJ makes it bittersweet but beautiful.
From the moment JJ joined the family, he’s filled every day with joy, loyalty, and love. Here’s to more happy birthdays, adventures, and cuddles with this sweet boy. 💙🐾
