This tribute is raised by the subscriptions of 670 parishioners of the working classes in grateful memory of the late George Wood of this parish surgeon.
Today, this shed at Prince Edward Point was torn down by Canadian Wildlife Service. It was a home for nesting barn swallows which are an endangered species. As well it was a favourite subject for many photographers including myself.

The Shoes on the Danube monument is a harrowing reminder of the atrocities that once occurred on the banks of the Danube. Having visited in 2017 originally it was one of the sites that made the most impact in Budapest and one I knew I would return to. The second visit hit home just as much as the first and is one I will not forget.
In Memoriam ~ We are a wounded community still tormented by the tragedy that unfolded at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Valentine's Day 2018, when 17 people were killed and another 17 were injured, just a few miles from our home. God bless them all.
Today, from 2:21-2:23 PM we held a city-wide moment of silence
for those precious-souls that were senselessly-lost. Rest In Peace.
*[those 3 minutes: was all the time it took to wipe out the lives of
16 beautiful children and one teacher. Stop school gun-violence!]

One more from our vacation in Cyprus this summer.
One more from my statues series too.
This statue was erected in memory of Nikos Solomos, a member of the Cypriot armed forces who according to the plaque "... was murdered on July 16 1974, defending the Cypriot Republic".
For those of you who might not remember, or know, the significance of the summer of 1974 to the people of Cyprus, here's a condensed timeline:
- July 15, 1974: a coup is launched to overthrow the president of the Cypriot Republic
- July 20, 1974: in all the confusion, Turkey launches an invasion of the northern coast of Cyprus, heavy fighting ensues
- August 16, 1974: Turkish forces finally halt their advance southward, after occupying 37% of the island
.
.
- Present Day: 37% of the northern part of Cyprus remains under Turkish occupation

The picture was taken while visiting the church of St. Raphael on the western coast of Cyprus as the sun was setting over Chrysochous Bay.
My thoughts and sympathies are with all those affected by the recent attacks.
I feel very sorry for those who have lost loved ones, family, friends, neighbours and co workers.
I understand that for many the terrible events will stay with them for many years.
I hope and pray the pain which the people affected by these events will one day go, to be replaced with future happiness.
I hope the One Love Manchester concert will be a great success.
I will waste no words or thoughts for the terrorists.
I will say little about politicians promising extra police to try to get in power. Their words have little value.
But I will say. The British public have once again risen to the challenge.
Countless people helped fellow citizens. Often the people they helped they did not know. People who saved live's, supplied accommodation and food, some helped people who were lost.
Those who attack our country in such manner want to divide us. Make us change our ways.
But by keeping vigilant and working together, with our fellow citizens, friends, neighbours and the security services we will prosper and the madness will end.
Hate can only produce hate. So I will not preach hate.
Life is special, remarkable, irreplaceable and unique.
I can only offer my thoughts and prayers.
I wish everyone a happy week ahead.
May your live's be illuminated with love, joy, happiness and safety.
Kind regards
Juxtaposition of a dead tree’s part and the lyrical beauty of living fir trees around. A pictorial representation of the contrasting concepts of death and life.
Photograph in memoriam of an old close relative and inspired by the poem line:
“Death is a fearful thing”
—W Shakespeare (Measure For Measure, act III, sc.1)
Did you know I loved you
When I cried to you goodbye
Could you feel my heart stop
When I looked into your eyes
Did you see the tears fall
And know just what they meant
Did you know I loved you

Beacons were lit across Britain in a moving tribute to our fallen war heroes on Remembrance Day. This enormous beacon was at Basildon in Berkshire.
.... Mounds of bouquets are placed in front of the John W. Foote Armoury in Hamilton, Ontario where Mr Cirillo was a reservist .... Cpl. Nathan Cirillo, age 24, was a proud soldier who dreamed of serving his country. The Hamilton native was living that dream when he was gunned down in the nation's capital while performing one of the highest honours bestowed upon only the finest Canadian soldiers .... standing guard with an empty rifle over the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Ottawa. Now in Hamilton, across the country (Canada) and around the world, the 24 year olds name will forever be tied to the day Canada's innocence was stolen ....
I hope some of you remember my sweet Peach-Faced Lovebird, Cutie-Pie, It's the anniversary of his passing, so I thought I'd post this pic in memory of him. He was one of my best models. Happy weekend everyone =)
Greetings my friends.
My thoughts and sympathies are with the families, friends and loved ones of the victims of this weeks events.
Life is special, remarkable, irreplaceable and unique.
I can only offer my thoughts and prayers.
The crash at Puglia (Italy) was tragic. A horrible event. There are many single railway lines in Europe. I know a few in Wales. I fully understand the friends and families will want answers.
The terrorist attack is Nice was an assault on France and humanity. I can not and will not understand the mind set which does such things. I do not wish to understand such thoughts or mind set. Like why a person kills so many innocents, so many children. As with the train crash in Italy my thoughts are with the friends and families of the victims, as well as the citizens of both countries. Who are my fellow Europeans.
My thoughts are also with the people of Turkey. The recent coup has caused the deaths of many innocent people and effected the lives of many other people.
Over the years I have met, known and been friends with people from the counties effected by the recent events.
Wishing everyone a good week ahead.
Take care and have fun.
A family has many connections- even ones that are like bokeh, that you can barely see, but you remember . . . In memory of my cousin RIchard Sims, who passed away tonight . . .
In memory of the passing of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Her life was long, as was her duty.
She inspired so many hundreds and thousands over that time. For a young princess that had no expectation to ever wear the burden and honour of Monarch, she proved to be one of, if not the greatest Monarch to rule the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth.
As a proud British citizen who once had the wonderful opportunity in meeting this great lady, I feel deeply saddened by this, but I am happy that she was able to pass peacefully surrounded by her family. We will all feel the ripples of her absence all over the world. I like some of you am feeling a little unsure how to process this loss, it has stricken me more than I thought it would.
Rest in peace your Majesty, and thank you for everything you have done for this country. We are better, stronger and more compassionate as a result of your long 70 years of service.

This is one of my favorite pictures of my Tee, who passed away the day before his 14th birthday. This portrait was done by my very talented brother, Joel, and was among the last pictures we took of Tee. (I had to scan it, then try to touch up, so it doesn't really do justice to the original photo.)Although Tee didn't especially like photo sessions, he loved his Uncle Joe, and the result was a group of great photos! Thanks, Joe, for the gift of your creative photography and for loving us enough to really take time to get some beautiful shots of Tee. Joel's work can be seen at:
Lady Bird's Johnson's legacy is all wrapped up in the colorful palette of our state's (Texas) landscape. We can thank her for the beautiful wildflowers we get to enjoy every spring.

I am listening to 'Life on Mars' with a bit of a tear in my eye. I couldn't believe the news this morning. There haven't been many times in my 70 years of life when I've been sincerely moved by the loss of an individual (My Dad) He will be missed. To all Bowie fans worldwide. Just be different and respect each other, you're all 'Heroes'. I hope that's how he would have seen it.
Ard Michael Cemetery, stood against the wall, covered in the lovely golden lichens beautifully carved. What a wonderful resting place.
In memory of our little girl, Willow, who passed away today peacefully in her sleep. She would have been 15 years old in August. We will miss her so much, and so will the members of "the people," as we call our zoo here.
Hannover, Niedersachsen:
Also mach dir über mich keine sorge.(...) Hoffentlich sind wier bald zusammen. wenn ich Brot habe, schicke ich dier, das weist du doch, Mutti"
Auszug aus dem Brief von Sigi Rapaport an seine Mutter.
I chose this shot to commemorate the death of a very dear friend who died on Oct. 22nd of Cancer many years ago. I'm also reminded of so many of my best friends, since most of them tragically died of cancer, including some family members. I wonder if they can see the rainbows as they look down from heaven? Both my twin sister and I have survived Breast Cancer and hope there will be no re-occurrence of this disease.
At the same time I wish to dedicate this photo in honour and remembrance of all who have battled and died of so many forms of cancer and I pray for all those who are survivors that they will get well.

This photo was taken my friend Mari of her beloved dog, Dee, who passed March 21, 2015. With her permission I reposted her photo and added it to a group that was set up as a memorial to Dee.
Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery and Memorial.
The beautifully maintained white marble crosses stand in nice symmetrical lines across the field. The lawn area is mowed down to the millimeter and the setting is really peaceful. Every effort is made to honor the fallen American soldiers of World War II.
Sad and beautiful at the same time.

I wanted to do a photo today to honour and remember Simon who died 10 years ago today. My uncle challenged me this morning to do my version of a famous painting. The painting of two cherubs/angels by Raphael Sanzio came to mind. I had to do my version with my Star model. I used Simons camera and lens to take the photo. I hope he is smiling on, wearing his own set of wings.
