The Ålesund fire happened in the Norwegian city of Ålesund on 23 January 1904. It destroyed almost the whole city centre, built mostly of wood like the majority of Norwegian towns at the time.
On 07/21/21 you rose to the stars. You were a friend, a helper, a supporter. You were inspiration for others.
It took me a while but I hope the artwork does it justice. Now you are free
we will not forget you
RIP Bart Bader

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
poem- Dylan Thomas

My best friend for a long time always there and always watched over my family has past away he was missed the minute he past and will be for a very long time. This makes my 8th lost friend but they all had a great life but nothing like they gave us. unconditional love they always knew when someone was sick or hurt and never left their side until they were called back to their maker. God Bless and I hope to see them all again playing like young pup's and back to good health. Thank you all for filling my life with joy and love. RIP your in Gods hands once again.
Their lives brushed ours like passing wings: soft, invisible, unforgettable. You never saw them in person, but your heart knows what it felt every time you read their comments on your photos. Like butterflies with broken wings, shining in their brevity, they still take flight.
And although your friends are no longer within your reach, they have been etched in the quiet corners of your soul. Every echo of kindness in their written messages, every feeling of being known without ever having met us, remains.

Rest in Peace
for some moments in life there are no words..
for our neighbours across the sea in christchurch, new zealand; our thoughts are with you in this dark time of loss.
I have two different coloured Chrysanthemums growing in my late brother's memorial garden. Each year (sometimes twice a year) they bloom and make a beautiful display. There is this multi coloured variety and a deep plum colour.
The Cellulitis on my leg has flared up again and I have been put on double antibiotics and ordered to keep my leg up, so I haven't been on the computed much. Will catch up with everyone tomorrow.

posting for: Saturday Self-Challenge: tree
This tree is planted in our garden in memory of our daughter, Clare, who died suddenly three years ago.
It's really thriving and this year, in addition to beautiful deep pink blossom in May, now this September has a good show of red berries. And on this day I took its photo some nice bokeh!
I knew it would be my subject for this week's SSC challenge.
gratitude for all your visits

For this week I have used a picture I took a months ago (but never processed) of my little fur baby Emmett. Although it is outside of the rules I hope the moderators can let this one slide as he was unfortunately taken from us on 5/5/17
Please fave and comment as I would really like to see him in explore :)

posting for Crazy Tuesday: December Decorations
This room, formerly Clare's bedroom before she left home and set off on her life's 'adventures' has been re-purposed as an upstairs sitting room in her memory: a new sofa, books, photos, indoor plants (currently a total of nine, leafy green, and one small orchid) and in the corner near the window, my work station.
💑Happy Crazy Tuesday! 💑

This is an abstract black and white shot as homage to the poet Dionysios Solōmos, who died in Corfu on this 9th day of February in 1857. His death anniversary is today. He was the national poet of Greece, as the first two stanzas from his “Hymn to Liberty” became Greece’s national anthem.
This commemorative shot is inspired by the 3 last lines of the Hymn’s 4th stanza:
“And all kept silent,
Because of being overshadowed by Fear
And plagued by slavery.”
—D. Solōmos
May his poetic soul rest in eternal peace.
I found this at a gift shop the other day and bought it because I love what it says...as it's so true.....both with feline and canine paws.
This week, two of my contact's dogs crossed the rainbow bridge. So I thought I'd post this in their memory. May they rest in peace.

A good friend to me and to many on Flickr, Jeff White, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2020. Even though Jeff had been battling cancer for a long while, he stayed active on Flickr, especially the Super Six and Galaxy and Stars groups, until shortly before his death. So many of my days on Flickr began with a greeting from Jeff. Jeff loved Cuba and in December of 2017 he married his fiancee, Melissa, there. Since then, Jeff struggled with a daunting amount of red tape and expense to have his wife come and live with him in Canada. I was so happy for him when he told me, around Christmas time, that the government had informed him that there were only 47 days left for the sponsorship of Melissa to be completed. It was with a very heavy heart that I learned that he died before she was able to join him. My deepest sympathies go out to Melissa, to the rest of Jeff's family, and to all his friends, on and off Flickr. Rest in peace, my dear friend.
Please note: There is also a remembrance thread on the Super Six Bronze Discussion page for those who would like to share their thoughts about Jeff.

"La luz dedica un momento del dia a cada persona ausente"
El momumento nace en uno de los escenarios de los atentados del 11-M, y aparece come un gesto de esperanza. Posee una doble perspectiva:desde la bulliciosa ciudad abierta y desde el silencio del interior de la estacion, bajo la estructura vitrea, donde se halla ese espacio visitable creado para establecer una relacion intima con las victimas, haciendo posible la lectura de los mensajes escritos por los ciudadanos en los dias posteriores al atentado.
