Ink drawing of the prickly porcupine. I was inspired to draw this when my husband and I saw a porcupine sauntering through some brush while we were on a hike. It seemed not in the least bit disturbed by our presence, and why not, with those protective quills?

I recently discovered an old can of ink when looking for a nice black to use for a nephew's wedding invitation. This came with some printshop acquired in the dim past. A sticker on the top shows that the ink is about 20 years old. The address, in Cincinnati, was valid for only 2 years. It had been crushed at some point in its history, but when I opened it there was only a thin layer of dried useless ink.
Nice.
Coprinopsis atramentaria. New growth shortly after rain. Those just erupting from the forest litter are shaped like closed umbrellas. Erbhaven Trail, Wellesley, Waterloo Region, Ontario.
3 of them will be for a swap at Mail Me Some Art: acrylics, ink, gesso, hand carved stamps, toilet paper rolls (for circles and oblongs), stencils. Most of these have a LOT of layers of paint and gesso.
When squid feel threatened, they squirt out ink to confuse or misdirect potential predators.

Airports, jet lag and lost luggage are a vexation to the spirit ... but not London! The people on the tour are great. I'm off on a busy day!

Ink and Dagger / Sean McCabe in the era when they still wore the vampire makeup. I think this was in 1997 at the Unitarian Church in Philadelphia. They just had released that first 7 inch. Oh yeah I had to take this photo with strobe lights flashing and that whole deal.
