This photo reminds me of Ink stippling which was invented by Giulio Campagnola, an Italian engraver, around 1510 to achieve tonal variation in his engravings. By using multiple tiny dots instead of lines, he could create more nuanced gradations of light and shadow. This technique was later adopted in various forms of ink and paint art, eventually distinguishing itself from the similar painting technique of Pointillism, which uses paint instead of ink.
The printing plate of a typical Amsterdam canal warehouse from 300 years ago in lead and brass (I think) to get an original inked screen print of that. This was in the shop window of a small printing house with a press. I suspect that this printing plate is about 30 years old.

This photo on my hike I tried to imitate Black ink paintings, or ink wash paintings, that has a rich history, with its roots in ancient China, where it emerged during the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD) and flourished in the Song Dynasty (960-1279). This art form, known as shui mo hua (水墨画) in Chinese, uses variations of black ink to create monochrome paintings emphasizing brushwork and conveying the essence of a subject rather than direct imitation.
