My dog is having a fan club and I made this for one lady who comes often just seeing my dog and her boyfriend complains when she's always late.

Over a year ago when we were confined to avoid spreading a potentially deadly virus, I knew much of my photographic adventures would need to be curtailed. In similar time, something by Stephan Marjoram inspired me to fill a bit of time doing something creative. So I took up ink drawing. Just to see what I could do. I "borrowed" from many different styles as I attempt to explore the medium. And with zero photography projects in the queue I might as well fill this space with something. So here goes.

Training myself to draw has been an interesting exercise. I studied the workds of Nicolas de Crecy, the Rat Rod artists, Stephan Marjoram, R.Crumb, S.Clay Wilson and many others. While I certainly will never develop the kind of talent they had, this has been a good way to "kill time" during the various periods of lockdown here in France during the Covid Pandemic.

I drew this on a red-eye flight while I was bored. I made it with a pilot pen, and added some values with a water brush pen after we landed.
Inktober 2023, DAY 2
SPIDERS
This year, I will try to make INKTOBER drawings based on popculture, drawn without sketching first.
Todays drawing is based on Spiderman by Marvel.
Drawn when the ripples calmed down after a dog left the river. The tree was just as wobbly as it’s reflection.
As it was raining, I was looking for somewhere to draw indoors. All the cafes and bars were chocka but the Litfass Cafe was empty and had a view.
Last week I had an errand to run which involved waiting in my car for around 40 minutes or so. I decided to bring my Moleskine sketchbook with me and to draw some scene in the vicinity where I was parking. Street parking is never easy to find downtown, so I took the first one I saw. Unfortunately when I looked at the scene in front and to the side of me, there wasn't much to sketch. I resigned myself to just wait and rest, but glancing in my rear view mirror I saw a fairly good scene. This is the result. I drew it in pencil and inked it at home using some reference photos. What I didn't realize while drawing from my rear view mirror, was the fact that the mirror reversed the horizontal planes of the scene. I only noticed this much later when I was looking at some of my reference photos. While I could correct this digitally, I thought that I would leave it as I saw it.
