This elegant little greenhouse is found at the Central Experimental Farm in Ottawa and now known as the Tropical Greenhouse. It was first built in 1928 on Major's Hill Park and moved to its present location on Maple Dr. in 1938. It's the only greenhouse at the Experimental Farm which is open to the public. A long time ago, I remember going to chrysanthemum shows there, however today it holds a nice collection of cacti. Admittedly it is rather small and in need of some repairs but I find that it's an attractive structure which reflects the architecture of the city from a bygone age.

I drove past this place and it took a short while to sink in what a gem it was. I turned round and sketched it. There was ample parking.

As I was sketching a local girl was watching me. She practised her English as said she likes painting. Later, another local came over to watch. He was a sculptor.

Spotted this house when cycling past. Had to draw it. I don’t know how you get to it or what the address would be.

another close to the deadline posting, 1125pm. i spent hours going through my various photo locations to find the photograph of a Triumph ROCKET that i demo rode in 2012 at the Americade motorcycle event.

i think it is a 2011 model. the Triumph ROCKET has the largest displacement engine of all regular(non-customized) motorcycles that are built...it is 2450cc. that motor is larger than a toyota corolla motor.

funny thing about it is at 800 plus lbs, once it got going it was easy to ride. but i took nothing for granted because the thing is a ROCKET for real!

drawn with my trusty fabercastell ecco pigment .1, on back of an envelope. no pencil sketch under this one, just straight to the inkliner.

Drawn to the sound of joggers. I was going to colur the tree black but left it uncloured for a change.

Drawn, from a photo, with a Sheaffer Imperial fountain pen with Iroshizuku Take-sumi ink.

There was so much traffic in the cemetery I had to move to the side of the avenue and restart!

I found this scene before I arrived as I searched for streets to draw on Street View.

The old city was beautifully cleaned and restored. Outside the city walls the houses were still black from soot.

I made this ink sketch from photos that I took from a rugged bike path in Lac Leamy Park. The view from here is great. You can see the old Lady Aberdeen Bridge (built 1895) and the St Francis de Sales Church (built in 1886) in Pointe Gatineau. The Gatineau and Ottawa Rivers meet at this spot and provide spectacular vistas of escarpments, forested parks, sailboats, and the city centre. The thing that always impressed me about this location was that, despite being in the middle of a large city, you were surrounded by nature and could have thought civilization was far far away.

I forgot to finish drawing the tree! A man from take away I was sat outside posed for me as I was sketching this. Quite a few passing locals commented on the sketch and the building. One said he was so impressed with the building, he’s got a photo of it in his hall.

There were more dramatic views but this one had a bench.

I got a double take from a group of passing police as I was putting away my stool after this sketch. I always thought it could look like a weapon with it’s telescopic legs.
