Mirit Ben-Nun is a unique Israeli painter whose works showcase a rich inner world that blends color, shape and emotion. Over the years Ben-Nun has built a reputation as a significant influence in the local art scene, offering the audience an artistic experience that cannot be ignored. Mirit was born and raised in Israel, and art has been a part of her life since a young age. She recalls moments spent with a brush and paints, where she began to feel the power of art to convey emotions and experiences. She was influenced by various styles, ranging from Impressionism to contemporary art, but she created a personal and distinctive style. Mirit Ben-Nun’s creations are characterized by the extensive use of vibrant colors and geometric shapes. She manages to create a dialogue between abstraction and themes from nature and human life. Ben-Nun describes her work as a way to express her inner world as she grapples with experiences, memories and feelings. Through her paintings, she seeks to investigate and express the tension and harmony between the internal and the external, the mutual influences of personal experiences on the environment and the complex emotional connection between individuals. Mirit has showcased her works in numerous exhibitions both in Israel and abroad.
A new series starts today with an early morning road trip to Limon in eastern Colorado. The winter chill on the plains and some of the small rural towns that are slowly dying off made for some interesting moments.

Zuirokuzan Engaku Kōshō Zenji (瑞鹿山円覚興聖禅寺), or Engaku-ji (円覚寺), is one of the most important Zen Buddhist temple complexes in Japan and is ranked second among Kamakura's Five Mountains. It is situated in the city of Kamakura, in Kanagawa prefecture to the south of Tokyo. It is very close to Kita-Kamakura Station on the Yokosuka Line, and indeed the railway tracks cut across the formal entrance to the temple compound, which (showing Chinese influence) is by a path beside a pond which is crossed by a small bridge. The story of East Riddlesden Hall has been shaped over the years by the contrasting influences of town and countryside, agriculture and industry, civil war and peace. This intimate 17th century manor house built above the River Aire was once at the heart of the agricultural estate of Riddlesden.
The early site
A manor has existed on this site since the 7th century.
Following the Norman invasion in 1066 and subsequent conquest, ownership of the site is believed to have passed from an Anglo-Saxon family to the Norman de Montalt’s.
1300s
A medieval hall was built in the early 1300s by descendants of the Norman de Montalt family, where the now-ruined Starkie wing stands.
1400s
In 1466 a house was constructed south of the medieval hall by the Paslew family.
Between 1466-1590 the house was extended to double its original size. This range of dates has been established through a test of the ornate plasterwork ceilings which are still in evidence in the Hall today.
1600s
In the 17th century the Hall was transformed into a comfortable manor house by James Murgatroyd, who had made his fortune in the Halifax woollen cloth industry. James bought the manor and 2000 acre estate of Riddlesden from the Rishworth family in 1638 for approximately £6,000, which would be valued at £6,000,000 today.
James was a keen builder and East Riddlesden was intended as a home for his eldest son John.
The property purchased by James looked very different from that which we see today. His alterations to the house were extensive and ostentatious.
The south end was remodelled to create the current two-storey block, and changes were made to the original medieval hall. The Great Hall was built as a temporary weatherproof structure to link the new Murgatroyd block with the original medieval hall during the re-building programme.
Sadly, James died in 1653 before his alterations to the property were completed.
The architecture and external decoration helped to create an impression of the owner’s quirky sense of style which is still revealed to us today.
Post 1600s
History still continued to be written at East Riddlesden Hall after James' death, and for 300 years after, the house was loved by a number of families before being saved from demolition in 1933

Built: 1929-1931
The functional building represents "the international influence of the constructive coupling of self-sufficient volumes" and was possibly influenced by Soviet revolutionary architecture. The building, which was built on a triangular plot of land that was rather unfavorable for the purpose, is characterized by a purely technical need, namely the accommodating large transformers, an obligatory design that lines rounded up or interlocks and angular structures, which gives the building a futuristic and technocratic character. Supported by the three-sided floor plan, the association of a large ship's hull is also obvious: Eugen Kastner and Fritz Waage have, for example, designed the chief office as a command bridge projecting beyond the building, as is common on ships. Circular windows are reminiscent of the portholes of an ocean liner.
Today, the Favoriten substation is one of the oldest substations of Wiener Netze GmbH, which is still in operation after the technical equipment was renewed. Because of its special shape, the building has repeatedly been used as a film backdrop.

The evening began under the banner of dub with Mediterranean influences from Iseo & Dodosound. Dub-loving producers Alberto Iriarte and Leire Villanueva began collaborating together on this project in 2014 and, very soon, crossed national borders to become a benchmark for lovers of original sounds in the field of dub in Europe.
Their beautiful concert was the perfect start to this memorable evening in which, in addition to various songs from their discography, they presented their latest work at the festival, entitled «Blossom», released this year.
La velada comenzó bajo la bandera del dub con influencias mediterráneas de Iseo & Dodosound. Los productores amantes del dub Alberto Iriarte y Leire Villanueva comenzaron a colaborar juntos en este proyecto en 2014 y, muy pronto, traspasaron las fronteras nacionales para convertirse en un referente para los amantes de los sonidos originales en el campo del dub en Europa.
Su hermoso concierto fue el comienzo perfecto de esta memorable velada en la que, además de varios temas de su discografía, presentaron en el festival su último trabajo, titulado «Blossom», publicado este año.

I have chosen to highlight these four photographs by H.J. King (1892-1973) as showing traces of the rising influence of Modernist photography. It is true that King’s early work has more in keeping with 19th century photography than the more radical trends emerging in Europe, and even in Australia through the work of photographers such as Harold Cazneaux (1878-1953), Max Dupain (1911-1992) and his wife Olive Cotton (1911-2003).
There are some later examples of what might be considered Pictorialism in King’s work (especially the 1935 image, “Forest Light”), even though Pictorialism was a dead end by this stage. Part of the reason why King was less fashionable than the urban photographers of Sydney and Melbourne, was that Tasmania was largely a rural state (much like a West Virginia in the USA). So we see in King’s work a great stylistic eclecticism, mainly because he was more interested in recording a changing world than setting new fashion trends in art.
But these four photographs are among his more aesthetically progressive works. We remember that Modernism embraced a forward looking view of the world, particularly with respect to developing technology. www.artgallery.nsw.gov.au/artboards/photography/modernism/
Clockwise from the top, we see the photograph of King’s motorcycle showroom in Launceston. Everything about this 1926 photograph makes us think of the great Walker Evans (1903-1975), though Evans did not take up photography until 1928! Miss Forbes with her Indian Scout winning speed trials in 1926 is truly one of the best photographs of the era. Remember it is captured on a large format camera not designed to register such speed. A fine achievement by photographer and rider. Perhaps someone can find out some more information about the amazing Miss Forbes. She was quite the go-getter, but remember this was the era of the Flapper and Amelia Earhart.
The photograph of the biplanes simulating a dog fight at the Launceston Air Pageant in 1932 is reminiscent of the amazing Howard Hughes film of 1930, “Hells Angels”. www.youtube.com/watch?v=GhyNpM5FKNE
The thing to recall here is that according to H.J’s own admission this photograph is a multiple exposure. King was in a third aircraft taking separate shots of the two biplanes and then pieced them together in the darkroom.
The last photograph of his daughter Daisy in 1938 is undeniably King emulating the Modernist approaches to light and shadow. The distorted shadow is actually quite brilliant and a nod to surrealist influences. That being said, King was very much a conservative at heart and this gave him his desire to conserve the natural world.

“Jungle stories by Jim Corbett merit as much popularity and as wide a circulation as Rudyard Kipling’s Jungle Books. Kipling’s Jungle Books were fiction, based on great knowledge of jungle life; Corbett’s stories are fact, and fact is often stranger than fiction.”

To the world, Jim Corbett is a little-known naturalist who rose to some fame in early 1900s hunting several maneaters in India’s Kumaon region. To Kumaonis, people from the densely forested Himalayan foothills of Kumaon, Jim Corbett was a savior. He was called upon on numerous occasions to alleviate terrors of man-eating tigers and leopards that roamed large regions and killed tens to hundreds of hapless men, women, and children who needed to venture into the jungle for their livelihood. To locals, Jim Corbett was not a hunter or a killer, he was their protector. Born in India of European ancestry, Jim Corbett loved the country and her people (“In my India, the India I know, there are four hundred million people, ninety percent of whom are simple, honest, brave, loyal, hard-working souls whose daily prayer to God…, is to give them security of life and of property...”; My India). Returning the love and doffing her hat to his status and posthumous influence in the region, India named her first national park after him (The Jim Corbett National Park).
Jim Corbett was also a writer extraordinaire, a fact often ignored in favor of his fame as the celebrated hunter. He hunted alone (“I have made it a hard and fast rule to go alone when hunting man-eaters, for if one’s companion is unarmed it is difficult to protect him, and if he is armed, it is even more difficult to protect oneself”), and he wrote alone producing prose that effortlessly took readers on nerve wrecking expeditions of hunting man-eaters. He shot with a long rifle and wrote in long sentences. Both his rifle and his sentences often met their targets. Take the following as an example:
"Dansay was an Irishman steeped to the crown of his head in every form of superstition, in which he had utter and complete belief, and it was therefore natural for him to tell his ghost stories in a very convincing manner. According to Dansay, a banshee was an evil female spirit that resided in dense forests and was so malignant that the mere hearing of it brought calamity to the hearer and his family, and the seeing of it death to the unfortunate beholder. Dansay described the call of a banshee as a long drawn-out scream, which was heard most frequently on dark and stormy nights. These banshee stories had a fearful fascination for me, for they had their setting in the jungles in which I loved to roam..." (Jungle Lore)
If you are not already spooked, you’re by now, at least, very curious about Dansay’s Banshee. I will let Jim tell you all about it:
"As on the evening of the storm a wind was blowing, and after I had been standing with my back to a tree for some minutes, I again heard the scream. Restraining with difficulty my impulse to run away, I stood trembling behind the tree and after the scream had been repeated a few times, I decided to creep up and have a look at the banshee. … —with my heart beating in my throat— I crept forward as slowly and as noiselessly as a Shadow, until I saw Dansay’s banshee.
In some violent storm of long ago a giant of the forest had been partly uprooted and had been prevented from crashing to the ground by falling across another and slightly smaller giant. The weight of the bigger tree had given the smaller tree a permanent bend, and when a gust of wind lifted the bigger one and then released it, it swayed back on to the supporting tree. At the point of impact the wood of both trees had died and worn as smooth as glass, and it was the friction between these two smooth surfaces that was emitting the terrifying scream. Not until I had laid the gun on the ground and climbed the leaning tree and sat on it while the scream was being repeated below me, was I satisfied that I had found the terror that was always at the back of my mind when I was alone in the jungles. From that day I date the desire I acquired of following up and getting to the bottom of every unusual thing I saw or heard in the jungles and for this I am grateful to Dansay for, by frightening me with his banshee, he started me on the compiling of many exciting and interesting jungle detective stories.” (Jungle Lore)
Locating and ‘getting to the bottom of the unusual sight’ above during our recent trip to the verdant national park, Rishabh said, ‘it looks like a scene from a videogame’. It was indeed a scene. It was Jim Corbett’s scene, which reminded me all about his Banshee and how not to be afraid of the unknown but be eagerly curious about it.

The European influence appears in the architecture, characterized by the Dutch gables painted in tropical pastel tones. This is also evident in the coexistence of the local language, Papiamento, with English, Dutch and Spanish. The country does not have fresh water but it has desalinated water of excellent quality and you can safely drink tap water. The small country is a major producer and exporter of aloe vera (aloe vera) and is strong in the financial and fishing sectors, in addition to logistical services in the oil sector. It is a small island with a lot of sun and wind all the time, which favors the country's main economic activity, tourism. Its area is 179 km2 (69.1 mi2) and is densely populated by approximately 110,000 inhabitants (2020 Census) and has a per capita income of just over US$25,000 p.a. The country's capital is Oranjestad.
Aruba, pequena ilha do Caribe holandês ao largo da costa da Venezuela, tem clima seco, praias ensolaradas e ondas suaves. Trieste is a city and seaport in northeastern Italy. It is situated towards the end of a narrow strip of land lying between the Adriatic Sea and Italy's border with Slovenia, which lies almost immediately south and east of the city. As we drift toward a blandly amorphous, generic world, as cultures disappear and life becomes more uniform, it's kind of beginning of a slippery slope towards assimilation and acculturation and, in some sense, annihilation. Cultures and traditions are hanging by the edge, change may seem less relevant as of today but within a generation or so these very same natives would be seen as exotic and rare.
Region of Ladakh is no immune to the shift. What was once remote and close to inaccessible, is today one of the most famous tourist destinations in India. While the old still manage to stick to their traditional wears to shield themselves against the harsh environment of high altitude, the new generation flaunt the likes of northface and columbia, jeans and baseball caps, all thanks to the influence of the west via tourism.
Like its said, change is the only constant, People change, cultures merge, world modernizes but what wouldn't change in years to come would be the photographs we capture today, preserved for tomorrow. It matters...

I face myself to change tomorrow # a vague day into something certain.
That is the meaning of a rebirth.
I had a very sweet girlfriend when I was 18.
After she left # I knew the meaning of gentleness for the first time and also a true pain of loss. After
she left # how many times did I depend too much on her # doubt her # envy her and keep on telling lies
until I realized it is love?
I wonder whether a nobody like me could have given something to her who was struggling in the
daily life in those days. Giving something is arrogant conceit. It is nothing but self-satisfaction.
I had been thinking about such a thing.
However # I guess what she saw in me was because I had nothing. That‘s why she tried to see
something in me. Perhaps she found a slight possibility in me # a guy filled with ambiguous # unstable
tomorrow. But I wasted days depending too much on her gentleness.

あらすじ
大学を目指している北見ケイは、SNS上で、6歳年上のイベントコンパニオン、上村香織に出会う。
上京してきた香織の夢は、有名なアーティストの友達になるためだ。
そのためにはラジオ局のプロデューサー、大沢亮の存在が必要だった。
大沢は、ラジオの生放送中、香織へ語りかける。
「僕には妻子がある。しかし、僕は君に会いたいと思っている」
ケイの同級生で、彼を想っている三條里香は、香織の動向を探っていた。。。。。
本編
人が海へ向かう理由には、二つある。
ひとつは、波打ち際ではしゃぐ子供のように、今の瞬間の海の輝きを楽しむこと。
もうひとつは、その輝きを静かに見据えて、過ぎ去った日々を懐かしむ老人のように記憶の埃を払うこと。
二つは重なり合わないようではあるけれども、たったひとつの意味しか生まない。
再生だ。
明日っていう、曖昧な日を確実なものへと変えてゆくために、自分の存在に向き合う。
それが再生の意味だ。
十八歳だった僕には大切な人がいた。

The capital of Suriname is Paramaribo, a City with a rich history of colonial times. The country suffered a lot of influence from the English and later the Dutch. The official language is still Dutch and here we drive on the left side of the street. Sranantongo is a dialect widely spoken too besides English.
There were a lot of houses all built with noble wood since the country is part of the Amazon world and has plenty of flora and fauna to live with. I am here choosing to picture some old houses that are either for sale or abandoned or have been recuperated and people are living inside of them. It is a worthwhile journey to get to know some of these typical wooden houses of Paramaribo. I find them very charming.
De hoofdstad van Suriname is Paramaribo, een stad met een rijke koloniale geschiedenis. Het land had veel invloed van de Engelsen en later de Nederlanders. De voertaal is nog steeds Nederlands en hier rijden we aan de linkerkant van de straat. Sranantongo is een dialect dat naast Engels ook veel wordt gesproken.
Er waren veel van de huizen allemaal gebouwd met nobel hout, aangezien het land deel uitmaakt van de Amazone-wereld en veel flora en fauna heeft om mee te leven. Ik kies er hier voor om me een paar oude huizen voor te stellen die ofwel te koop staan, ofwel verlaten zijn of gerecupereerd zijn en er mensen in wonen. Het is de moeite waard om enkele van deze typische houten huizen van Paramaribo te leren kennen. Ik vind ze erg charmant.

Muitas das casas eram construídas com madeiras nobres já que o país faz parte do mundo amazônico e tem muita flora e fauna para conviver. Estou aqui fotograaf do algumas casas antigas que estão à venda, ou abandonadas ou foram recuperadas e que há pessoas morando dentro delas. Vale a pena conhecer algumas dessas típicas casas de madeira de Paramaribo. Eu as acho muito charmosas.

Había muchas casas todas construidas con madera noble ya que el país es parte del mundo amazónico y tiene mucha flora y fauna para user. Estoy aquí eligiendo Fotografo are algunas casas antiguas que están a la venta, o abandonadas o han sido recuperadas y la gente está viviendo dentro de ellas. Vale la pena el viaje para conocer algunas de estas típicas casas de madera de Paramaribo. Los encuentro muy encantadoras y charming.

La langue officielle est toujours le néerlandais et ici nous roulons sur le côté gauche de la rue. Le sranantongo est un dialecte largement parlé en plus de l'anglais.
Il y avait beaucoup de maisons toutes construites avec du bois noble car le pays fait partie du monde amazonien et regorge de faune et de flore. Je choisis ici d'imaginer quelques vieilles maisons qui sont soit à vendre, soit abandonnées ou qui ont été récupérées et des gens y vivent. Cela vaut la peine de découvrir certaines de ces maisons en bois typiques de Paramaribo. Je les trouve très charmants.

La lingua ufficiale è ancora l'olandese e qui guidiamo sul lato sinistro della strada. Lo sranantongo è un dialetto anche molto parlato oltre all'inglese.
C'erano molte case tutte costruite con legno nobile poiché il paese fa parte del mondo amazzonico e ha molta flora e fauna con cui convivere. Sto qui scegliendo di immaginare alcune vecchie case che sono in vendita, o abbandonate o sono state recuperate e le persone ci vivono. Vale la pena fare un viaggio per conoscere alcune di queste tipiche case in legno di Paramaribo. Li trovo molto affascinanti.

Die offizielle Sprache ist immer noch Niederländisch und hier fahren wir auf der linken Straßenseite. Sranantongo ist neben Englisch ein weit verbreiteter Dialekt.
Es gab viele Häuser, die alle aus edlem Holz gebaut wurden, da das Land Teil der amazonischen Welt ist und viel Flora und Fauna zum Leben hat. Ich bin hier, um mir einige alte Häuser vorzustellen, die entweder zum Verkauf stehen oder verlassen sind oder wiederhergestellt wurden und in denen Menschen leben. Es ist eine Reise wert, einige dieser typischen Holzhäuser von Paramaribo kennenzulernen. Ich finde sie sehr charmant.
عاصمة سورينام هي باراماريبو ، وهي مدينة ذات تاريخ غني من العصور الاستعمارية. عانت البلاد من نفوذ الإنجليز ثم الهولنديين لاحقًا. اللغة الرسمية لا تزال هولندية وهنا نقود السيارة في الجانب الأيسر من الشارع. Sranantongo هي لهجة منتشرة على نطاق واسع إلى جانب اللغة الإنجليزية.
كان هناك الكثير من المنازل التي بنيت جميعها بالخشب النبيل لأن البلاد جزء من عالم الأمازون ولديها الكثير من النباتات والحيوانات لتعيش معها. أنا هنا أختار أن أتخيل بعض المنازل القديمة التي هي إما معروضة للبيع أو مهجورة أو تم إصلاحها ويعيش الناس بداخلها. إنها رحلة تستحق التعرف على بعض هذه المنازل الخشبية النموذجية في باراماريبو. أجدهم ساحرين للغاية.
