Photographed at the Japanese Art Museum, Haifa, during the exhibition Spirit of the Way.
The exhibition explores the concept of “dō” — the Way — in Japanese arts, and reflects on mushin and zanshin, the awareness that continues beyond action.
“This exhibition covers a wide range of Japanese arts that carry the suffix “dō” (道), which have shaped the cultural and spiritual landscape of Japan. Dō, meaning “way,” originates from the Chinese concept of Dao, which was integrated over the generations into Zen Buddhism. Both traditions sought to understand the essence of the “way” as an inner and spiritual journey.
This view has profoundly influenced the evolution of many Japanese arts, including shodo (書道), “the way of writing”; chado (茶道), “the way of tea”; and budo (武道), the martial arts. Each invites the practitioner to a process of meditation in action, beginning with the quieting of the mind and continuing with performance of the movement with complete attention and full presence, without expectation of a result and without striving for a goal. The action itself is the purpose and the reward.
The connection between these arts and the spirit of Zen Buddhism is embodied in the concept of mushin (無心), a consciousness “without grasping”. This is a state in which thoughts and expectations do not disrupt the action, and the action occurs as second nature, for example, when drawing the sword freely without hesitation in martial arts, the line that emerges during a single breath in calligraphy, or the meticulous movements of the tea ceremony. Mushin is not passive emptiness. It is complete clarity and the simplicity of harmonious action, which is done as if by itself.
Alongside stands the principle of zanshin (残心, “the remaining heart”), an awareness that continues even after the action is finished. This is the moment after the action, whose importance is no less than that of the action itself. It is the calming of inner vibration after swinging the sword, the gentle tremor that remains on the paper after the brush is lifted, the silence after pouring the tea into its bowl. Zanshin returns the gaze to the state of being that continues beyond the movement itself.
The arts that carry the suffix “dō” offer a complete way of life – shugyō (修行, “rigorous training”) – and practitioners themselves become the “way”. The way unfolds in every moment and every action. It is a path for personal development throughout life, and a complete dedication to continuous practice that is inseparable from life itself.”

Beneath the city is a vibrant subculture, flourishing in abandoned subway stations and sewer tunnels. We don't know about them, and they don't care about us.
This build was mostly inspired by Neil Gaiman's book Neverwhere, but there's a bit of Harry Potter influence as well.

So, on the bright side, it doesn't bother me at all if Heidi brings her stinky new toy containing valerian root inside. Ramva3 met with K’hall’s vessel mid-flight, its scorched hull trailing faint ion wisps. Moments later, Leska10 appeared—an escort dispatched to guide the two damaged orbs to sky dock.
Adrienne leaned toward K’hall, her voice low. “How bad is the damage?”
K’hall offered a faint smile. “Not catastrophic. Some systems are offline—we need repairs. These orbs were built for reconnaissance, not war. Their defenses are minimal.”
Adrienne at a nearby screen, noting the other Arcturian craft. “Your people seem deeply embedded here.”
K’hall nodded, his gaze distant. “We arrived on Earth eighty of your years ago. Emissaries. Our purpose: to nurture the spiritual evolution of humankind. We are guardians—not just of humans, but of all realms that intersect here. Intervention is rare, but recent developments demand vigilance.”
He paused, studying Adrienne. “Humans are not native to this planet. They came in ships, fleeing a cataclysm that shattered their home world. That diaspora scattered them across the galaxy. They are in a somewhat immature stage of development.”
His eyes flicked to Kayla, though his words remained for Adrienne. “Your bloodline is not ordinary. You and she carry the bloodline of Ikhon, a very advanced race of star beings. Your kind were sent… incarnated… into human form to guide and protect. You possess more power than you know.”
A shadow passed over his features. “We did not anticipate the lizards. Their influence over humanity is... insidious. We’ve yet to break their hold.”
Kayla’s voice cut through the tension. “There is a way to deal with the Reptiles.”
K’hall’s reply came slow, deliberate. “That... must be discussed.”
Kayla frowned.
Avhal’s voice rang out. “Axiom5 on visual. Clearance granted for Bay 8.”
“Thank you, Avhal.” K’hall rose, nodded to the girls, strode to the control room and took his seat.
The vast underbelly of Axiom5 was on screen, its docking bays aglow. “Bext,” K’hall commanded, “lock onto Bay 8’s approach beam. Engage auto-docking.”
Ahead, Ramva3 limped toward Bay 3, its hull damage stark against the sky. One by one, the orbs aligned and docked. A soft jolt. The hiss of magnetic clamps. Silence.
K’hall turned, his voice calm but resonant. “Welcome to Axiom5.”

Bolsover Castle is located in the market town of Bolsover, in the English county of Derbyshire. Built in the early 17th century, the castle sits on the earthworks and ruins of a 12th century medieval castle, the present structure was begun between 1612 and 1617 by Sir Charles Cavendish. The building work was continued by Charles two sons, William and John, who were influenced by the Italian-inspired work of the architect Inigo Jones. The tower, known today as the 'Little Castle', was completed around 1621.
William Cavendish, who was created Marquess of Newcastle in 1643 and Duke of Newcastle-upon-Tyne in 1665, added a new hall and staterooms to the Terrace Range, these are now in ruins.
The castle was specifically designed and built as a lavish retreat for entertaining influential guests, it was known for its lavish banquets, entertainment, and overall atmosphere of celebration and revelry.
The site is now in the care of the English Heritage, and is both a Grade I listed building and a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
