The Galápagos penguin (Spheniscus mendiculus) is a penguin endemic to the Galápagos Islands. It is the only penguin that lives north of the equator in the wild. It can survive due to the cool temperatures resulting from the Humboldt Current and cool waters from great depths brought up by the Cromwell Current.
While ninety percent of the Galápagos penguins live among the western islands of Fernandina and Isabela, they also occur on Santiago, Bartolomé, northern Santa Cruz, and Floriana. The northern tip of Isabela crosses the equator, meaning that some Galápagos penguins live the northern hemisphere, the only penguins to do so.
The species is endangered, with an estimated population size of around 1,500 individuals in 2004, according to a survey by the Charles Darwin Research Station. The population underwent an alarming decline of over 70% in the 1980s but is slowly recovering. It is therefore the rarest penguin species (a status which is often falsely attributed to the yellow-eyed penguin).
Population levels are influenced by the effects of the El Niño Southern Oscillation, which reduces the availability of shoaling fish, leading to low reproduction or starvation. However, anthropogenic factors (e.g. oil pollution, fishing by-catch and competition) may be adding to the ongoing demise of this species. On Isabela Island, cats, dogs, and rats attack penguins and destroy their nests. When in the water, they are preyed upon by sharks, fur seals, and sea lions. – Wikipedia

Alternative shot of the Main Shrine of Izumo Taisha. It is believed to be the residence of the enshrined gods, namely, Ookuninushi and his family members.
Shintou architectures are known to preserve original Japanese architectural traditions better than Buddhist architectures that were influenced by Korean and Chinese architectures. Although half-hidden by the walls, residences for the gods in the compound are constructed as stilt houses with a ladder. In this sense, they resemble the houses by the Yeak Laom Lake.
Architects point out that Japanese houses are designed to be well ventilated in order to be comfortable in humid summer by sacrificing protection against the cold in winter. In my opinion, it would be an influence of the Austroasiatic people, which came with the rice cultivation.
Rice cultivation in Japan started in Kyuushuu Island in the west around the 10th century B.C. and spread nationwide except for northern Honshuu and Hokkaidou by the 3rd century B.C., which roughly coincides with the period of Austroasiatic expansion. The style of earthen ware had drastically changed as rice cultivation spread.

Mainz is over 2000 years old and is one of Germany’s oldest cities but not one that is on the radar for most tourists visiting Germany. During the war 80% of the city was leveled but its old town core around the Dom escaped with very little damage.
The Mainzer Dom or St Martin’s cathedral is one of three Kaiserdom’s or imperial cathedrals the others located in Speyer and recently visited Worms. It is located in the old town Marktplatz that has been pedestrianized so makes a great walkabout and an easy visit from one of the underground parking garages scattered around the old town.
The Cathedral was constructed in 975 and was mostly Romanesque in design but now sports quite bit of Baroque ornamentation. Mainz’s Prince Bishop envisioned the city becoming the next Rome and wanted a Cathedral to reflect this ambitious dream, the Prince Bishop Electors also determined who would be the Holy Roman Emperor and ruled their districts in proxy for the Emperor so had a lot of power and influence.

Arnside signal box was built in 1897 by the Furness Railway, it is a Type 4 design constructed from stone, possibly influenced by the architectural practice of Paley and Austin.

The Warsaw Mermaid - statue on Old Town Market square in Warsaw. It was the first monument of the Warsaw coat of arms and had an influence on the later images of the Warsaw Mermaid and popularized her figure among the inhabitants and visitors of the city. The mermaid appears in several Warsaw legends. All of them assigned her the role of the patron and protector of the city. The sculpture in Warsaw's Old Town Square was designed by Varsovian sculptor Konstanty Hegel. Originally (1855–1928) and now (since 2000) it stands in the marketplace. At other times, it was moved to different places in Warsaw. In 2008, the original sculpture made of bronzed zinc was taken from the market for maintenance work. The sculpture was in a very poor condition due to mechanical damage and numerous acts of vandalism. The repaired original was transferred to the Museum of Warsaw, and replaced with a copy of made by the Jacek Guzera foundry in Dąbrowie near Kielce.

Pomnik Syreny – monument znajdujący się na Rynku Starego Miasta w Warszawie. Był on pierwszym pomnikiem warszawskiego herbu i miał wpływ na późniejsze wizerunki warszawskiej Syreny oraz upowszechnił jej postać wśród mieszkańców i osób odwiedzających miasto. Syrenka jest bohaterką kilku warszawskich legend. Wszystkie wyznaczają jej rolę patronki i opiekunki miasta. Syrenka na warszawskiej Starówce została zaprojektowana przez warszawskiego rzeźbiarza Konstantego Hegla. Pierwotnie (1855-1928) oraz obecnie (od 2000) stoi na rynku. W międzyczasie była kilka razy przenoszona w inne miejsca w Warszawie. W 2008 roku oryginalna rzeźba wykonana z brązowanego cynku została wycofana z rynku do prac konserwacyjnych. Rzeźba była w bardzo złym stanie z powodu uszkodzeń mechanicznych i licznych aktów wandalizmu. Naprawiony oryginał został przekazany do Muzeum Warszawy i zastąpiony kopią wykonaną przez odlewnię Jacka Guzera w Dąbrowie k. Kielc.

The boat houses at the Obersee, which is a smaller lake at the southern tip of the Königssee in Germany, are famous among instagram influencers and photographers alike. Some of the churches in the Barossa seem to have been built in the middle of nowhere, as this one, Gruenberg Lutheran Church was. The main church building may be plain but the bell tower and steeple at the front are far from it.
