These two babies stuck close to the adults side at this point the parents were diving and the babies were looking for them and waiting to be fed. They really are very cute little things and when they flip over they expose a tiny white belly. The best moment with these guys was watching one ride backwards on his mom.
Bereits seit 2018 fahren die ersten TGV in der neuen schwarz-weiß-roten Lackierung. Aber die Bugklappe von Zug 4702 hat es irgendwie in all den Jahren geschafft, nicht lackiert zu werden. Oder die SNCF hat in irgendeiner Werkstatt noch Bugklappen in der alten Lackierung rumliegen.
Ich liebe Hühnchen mit Nüssen und Gemüse, mein Mann nimmt immer die Ente mit unterschiedlichen Soßen.

Und das Ensemble von mittelalterlichem Dom und Severikirche nicht nur optisch, sondern auch akustisch zu genießen. 17 Glocken ertönen in den beiden Gotteshäusern, unter ihnen die Gloriosa, die "Königin aller Glocken" (omnium campanarum regina), die größte freischwingende mittelalterliche Glocke der Welt.
Die Gloriosa diente als Vorlage für eine Reihe großer Glocken, wie z.B. die Frankfurter Gloriosa, die große Kreuzglocke der Dresdner Kreuzkirche und die Petersglocke im Kölner Dom.
Wenn die Gloriosa spricht, haben übrigens alle anderen Glocken zu schweigen - sie erklingt nur zu besonderen Anlässen und Feiertagen.

Martin Luther was ordained to priesthood here in 1507, years before rejecting teachings and practices of the Roman Catholic Church that led to his excommunication by the pope in 1521.
St Severus's Church (on the right) is another gem of German Gothic architecture. It replaced an 11th century Romanesque predecessor church.
Visiting is a visual and auditory treat when you take the time to listen to the organs and church bells, including "Gloriosa", Europe's largest surviving medieval-era bell.
Erfurt, the state capital of Thuringia, is an old university city with a rich history that dates back more than 1,200 years.
Immer wieder begeistern mich die Lotusblüten, weil sie eine unbeschreibliche Schönheit ausstrahlen. Dieses schöne Exemplar fotografierte ich an einem wunderschönen Tag in einer links-diagonalen Seitenperspektive im Botanischen Garten in Erlangen. Als Hintergrund wählte ich den blauen Himmel mit weißen Wolken. Viel Spaß beim betrachten.

Scarce breeder, partially migrant.
Whereas Red-throated Divers can often be found in Iceland on smaller inland lakes and pools - if you know where to look - the Great Northern Diver is more often seen on much larger and deeper bodies of water. I was hopeful that I’d be able to find a breeding pair and, with a bit of luck, be able to get some decent photos. Unfortunately it wasn’t to be. During our two-week trip we only saw three birds and, on each occasion, they were a fair distance out. This was the most co-operative bird we encountered, which even did a bit of a wing flap after one of his dives.

The Great Northern Loon (Gavia immer), is a large member of the loon, or diver, family of birds. The species is known as the Common Loon in North America and the Great Northern Diver in Eurasia.
Gavia immer. The feathers on the back of this Greater Norther Diver (or Common Loon in the Americas) have pale fringes identifying it as an immature. I photographed it in Scarborough harbour, North Yorkshire. It was spending most of its time under water, only surfacing briefly for air. I was lucky that it surfaced close to me for a few seconds enabling me to get this shot which is uncropped. They breed in North America, Greenland and Iceland and are winter visitors to Britain, mainly to western and northern coasts. It’s quite a scarce winter visitor to the Yorkshire coast, but Scarborough harbour is often the best place to see them if one stays around for a while. I previously photographed one here in February 2022 eating a Shore Crab in much better light.

Common Loon ( Gavia immer) A true symbol of the wildness of Wisconsin's lakes. A loon can get up to 3 feet long and its name comes from the Swedish word "lom" meaning 'lame' for the awkward way it walks on land. Loons are great swimmers and dive deep in the water to feed on fish. This loon came close to our boat and put on a stunning show for us as we were fishing. It stood up in the water and looked like it was walking on the water.

I am back in Canada, land of the loonie and astronomical snowfalls.
My airport ride couldn't make it up my side street, so I waded through waist-high snowdrifts in my once pristine Florida walking shoes back to my snow-encased house.
