Sixteen-month-old Angel is more commonly known as “Monkey” around the house because of her pawmazing climbing abilities. Her dog mom, Michele, says Angel has even mastered how to get up on the top bunk to hide when she’s been naughty.
“My girl is the sweetest, most protective little girl – she just has this knack of making me laugh when I’m feeling down,” says her dog mom, Michele. She will nibble my toes to make me squeal … she runs laps around the house until she gets dizzy and falls over!”
Michele says Angel is “just full of Rattitude and is just one of the family. We love her dearly and she makes our lives that much better by being loving and loyal back.”
Molly is a 4-year-old Lab-Dingo mix. “What I love about her eyes are that they are big and brown with a beautiful black outline,” says Amberly, her dog mom. “She knows how to express feelings with them very well and always puts a smile on my face. She is special because she understands me very well. She knows before I cry when I am sad, and she always greets me excitedly at the door when I come home. She is my comfort.”

Hutton is a rescue Wirehaired Terrier-Jack Russell Terrier mix who’s about 3 years old. “We are still getting to know Hutton, but have learned that his ‘go to’ move is to roll over for a belly rub,” say his pet parents, Kim and John. “He has the cutest spots all over his belly and hind legs. Hutton is special because despite having been in a shelter, a rescue (and who knows before that) he is still a loving and loyal dog. Within minutes of adopting him, he was completely bonded to us.”

Yoshi is a 2-year-old Miniature Shih Tzu. “I love this bandana because he loves to wear it!” says his dog mom, Karelle. “It is colorful, just like his personality, and he loves to show off when he has this on. Whether it be goats, guinea pigs or other dogs, he greets each with a lick and a tail wag!”
“Hakan has the softest belly – it always wants to be rubbed and fed,” says his pet parent. “From the first time we saw him at 12 days old, we knew how much we loved him!”
Alasdair is a Chocolate Lab who’s now 5 years old. “Due to a series of disasters and puppy-mill-caused allergies, he has spent far too much time wearing a variety of oversized collars,” says his dog dad, Nick. “He hates each and every one of them. In this particular photo, from about three years ago, he was recovering from surgery to remove a benign growth from his leg and destroying yet another collar.”
Nick says the vet was amazed when he asked to purchase extra collars for Alasdair. “I think it's pretty obvious why. I think we went through about a dozen with this particular surgery,” he says. “Despite his issues, his personality, which comes through in this photo, is amazing.”
Athena and Rocket-Man, seen here on their way to the beach, are a loving pair of littermates. “They love hiking, going to the river when we fish, or just laying on the sofa, watching TV with us,” says their pet parent, Mischel. “We have had Rat Terriers for the past 14 years. Once you have one, you will never have anything but a Rat Terrier. We would not trade them for the world.”
Two-year-old Flash “has the best personality,” says his dog mom, Kathy. “He’s super-easy to live with but ready at the drop of a hat to work. Flash loves to swim and run agility. I want to believe that out of all of those things, he loves me best."
Nemesis (Nemmi) and her 8-week-old puppy were trotting down the street when their pet parent Shay rescued them in 2004. Shay found a great home for the puppy, and fostered Nemmi while the Pit Bull had some parasites cleared up. “During that time I fell in love,” Shay says. “She has this thing where she holds down smaller critters, dogs and cats alike, and nibbles (grooms) them up and down with her little front teeth. It is so cute to watch.” While her cats will only put up with it for a short period of time, Shay says her hound dog “will let her do it forever.”
