Neeka is a pure-bred, 18-month-old Doberman. “She is very loyal to me and is a great cuddler – she craves and adores attention,” says Deb, her dog mom. “What makes her unique are her funny quirks –- splashing water all over the floor and making a mess when she drinks; throwing her blanket around before lying on it; and squishing her nose up against the glass door when looking out of it.”
I was secretly hoping that we wouldn't be able to find the dog's owner even though it was obvious that someone loved them and took good care of them (their teeth were cleaner and whiter than my own teeth, and it was obvious that they were very familiar with Snausages). I really fell in love with little Daisy who was built like a tank but had the sweetest disposition.
Duchess is an 18-month-old, black-and-tan, pure-bred Dobie. “She is bossed around the house by Kitty and loves to chase spiders,” says Kimberly, her pet parent. “We adopted this little girl from a family who left her alone outside. Now she spends her days lounging on the chaise lounge by the fireplace!” Kimberly says Duchess “drinks up my hot tea when I’m not watching, enjoys the broccoli under the table from my son and loves us unconditionally…as we do her!”
Kimberly says that in this photo, Duchess is saying, “What do you mean I can’t eat your yogurt? I can if you set it down….”
Wally, a miniature American Eskimo Dog, is now 1½ years old. “He broke his leg after jumping off the dining table when he was 9 months old,” says his dog mom, Clare. “He was in the cast for more than two months. He managed to chew his cast and ate some bandage even with the ‘cone of shame’ around his head.”
I saw this when I was in South Korea and just had to take a picture of this - It made me wonder whether this was for a dog or.... for DOG!!!!....
And yes, I know the answer... it just made me laugh!.....
These are a couple of stray dogs that my mom saw wandering around near our house. They were roaming in my neighbor's yard across the street but came right over to me when I called. I put my dog's leashes on them to keep them from running off, and thank goodness one of them had a tag with a phone number on it, and we were able to get in touch with their owner. Both dogs were so sweet, very friendly, and very well-fed. Our neighborhood is not one where dogs just wander around, so I was surprised that no one else had called about the dogs or seemed at all concerned for them.

“Foxy Brown, my 7-year-old Pit Bull, is snuggling with the clean laundry, giving her ‘Mama, don't make me get up’ puppy eyes,” says her dog mom, Lauren. “Most people see Pit Bulls as dangerous or tough, but Foxy's eyes reveal what a sweetheart she really is. She loves her mama, swimming in the pool, her adopted Pit-Jack Russell Terrier mix buddy and singing along with her uncle's harmonica, in that order.”
April is a 2-year-old parti Poodle who was rescued with more than 90 other dogs from a hoarder. “She came to her foster home pregnant and scared, as her feet had never touched grass and she had never been outside of a trailer,” says Joan, her dog mom. “We call this photo her ‘pin-up pose.’ We love this pose because even though she came from some horrid conditions, she is sweet and trusted us enough to show us her pretty belly.”

Paul Newman is a 4-year-old white Basset Hound “with bright blue eyes, just like his namesake,” says his dog mom, Karen. “One of his favorite ways to exercise is by learning new tricks. This is a picture of him giving his friend a ride in a cart. Paul Newman is a rescue dog, a therapy dog, an actor/model dog, a fun dog and every person's best friend. He is truly special.”
Tucker is a 10-year-old Border Collie. When he was just 6 months old, he was diagnosed with dysplasia in both his hips. He had surgery on one hip when he was a year old. “Border Collies are known for their intelligence, high drive and energy level. Tucker did not disappoint,” says Diane, his dog mom. “Every day, he enjoyed playing disc, fetching a ball and practicing tricks.”
Tucker earned a CGC
(canine good citizen title) and he and Diane became a certified animal-assisted therapy team. During visits to nursing homes, Tucker catches tossed discs and a ball, and performs tricks for the residents. “I ask him, ‘Is there anything you’d like to say before we go?’” Diane says. “Tucker has a small red heart he squeezes that says, ‘I LOVE YOU, I LOVE YOU.’
“If we had not noticed the click in Tucker’s gait, I would have not taken him in the direction of animal-assisted therapy. I truly believe this is what Tucker is meant to do. He is one of a kind, and brings joy, love and laughter to everyone he meets.”
Mya is a 5-year-old Siberian Husky adopted from a shelter four years ago. “As you can tell in the picture, a bath is not her favorite way to spend an afternoon,” says her pet parent, Dana. “She would rather be lounging in a pool of sunlight, not water. I love that she is gentle with everyone, including little dogs, cats and children. Like most Sibes, she is just a big, friendly, shedding ball of happiness and joy.”
“This is ‘Santa Liza,’ my silly Dobergirl, at 7 months old,” says her dog mom, Karen. Liza, a purebred Doberman, is now 10½ years old. Karen says that when she needs cheering up, Liza kneels down and buries her head between her front paws, with her rear end still up, and wiggles her whole body at the same time. Of course I start cracking up laughing. The more I laugh, the harder she wiggles. Then I end up on the floor, with her showering me with ‘Doberkisses.’”
Cheri is a 12-year-old Rat Terrier-Jack Russell Terrier mix.
“Cheri may be a senior, but she loves to jog with me in the mornings and gladly takes all the cuddling afterward as her reward,” says Marissa, her dog mom.
“What I love mostly about Cheri is her ability to jump high like a circus dog when she gets excited to go outside or play with her bone,” Marissa says. “I also love that Cheri tears through her toys, in just one minute tops, to get to the squeaker. She always has her eye on the prize!”
Grace is 6 years old. ”We never wanted a show dog, just a couch dog, and BOY! is she a couch dog,” says her dog mom, Beth. “Not much of a watch dog, though, as she instantly loves everyone she meets." Beth says Grace’s most unique trait is that she will eat the two pills she takes daily right out of her pet parents’ hands, because she knows she’ll get a treat afterward. “She even reminds us when it is time to take her pills, because she wants her treat,” Beth says. “Silly girl!”
Tequila is a 2-year-old Indian Pariah (InDog) mix. Among her favorite things to do are fetching balls and stones, jumping through a hoop, climbing trees and running, according to Rajvi, her pet parent.
“As a puppy, she was found abandoned and was being tortured,” Rajvi says. “She grew up extremely nervous, hence aggressive. She is now much improved and has gained confidence through her agility skills. She is easily able to scale a 5-foot wall and jump down at least 8 feet. We have had to raise our boundary walls, as she easily jumps over them.”
