Looking back at images, and I came across this shot of the beach at Torrey Pines. This image was taken days before I went into hiding due to the pandemic. It has almost been a year of staying home and socially distancing with occasional trips out (usually to the grocery store). Looking at this image makes me feel as if it is a place far far away, even though it is only a couple miles from my house. For that reason, I am adding it to my “Virtual Covid Travel Series”

Taken 8 minutes before sunset on 13 Jan. Surface winds were blowing W40mph with gusts to 60mph. These clouds look as if they are being torn apart and were short lived.

Magical Magnificent Stunning Sunset Tampa Bay Florida - IMRAN™
Sometimes the shades and shapes of the stunning sunsets I’m blessed to experience cannot he explained in mere words. Yes, I could describe a little bit of the rich bands of gold, orange and red, spanning the horizon from my blessed home on the right to the mangroves on the left. I could describe the sunlight reflecting on the totally tranquil Tampa Bay waters, with the dock and a boat caught in silhouette. I could even try to explain the almost V-like shape the beams of light splitting the bands if gold are not typical yellow or red but almost as if a blue ray/light (special/K?😉 ) was being pointed to the heavens. But the total impact can only be savored either experienced in person or zooming in to see the details of this photo. What do you think?

Today is my birthday, the third day of the new year. I submit this image for my “!00X2023” which for this year is a hundred images of me or a part of me. Today I decided to show the real me instead of hiding behind a part of me.

ENG: The building, constructed by Franz Ahrens in 15 months from 1907 to 1908, was opened in 1909 as the Friedrichstraßenpassage. It connected Friedrichstreet with Oranienburger Street. It was the second largest shopping arcade in the city after the Kaiserpassage. The building was used by AEG from 1928 and from then on was called the Haus der Technik by its owner, the Berliner Commerz- und Privatbank. At the beginning of the 1930s, the building was increasingly used by offices of the NSDAP. During the war years, the Tacheles and the associated buildings were badly damaged and were only rebuilt in a makeshift fashion. The building was taken over by the Free German Trade Union Federation in 1948 and fell into disrepair over the years. Around 1970, parts of the complex were used as a cinema and the decay continued. From the art temple of the 1990s to the glamor palace of 2024, the Tacheles was for a long time the epitome of Berlin's alternative art and culture scene. The „House of Art“ no longer exists in its original form. The Tacheles and its grounds at Oranienburger Street 54 in Berlin-Mitte were renovated between 2014 and 2023 following its sale and the original Tacheles was integrated into the new Schießscharten architecture. Today, there is a large atrium that reflects the old passages.

This short time lapse clip is sped up 50x real-time. It shows a clear horizon with overcast skies. This prime setup for a fire sky didn't disappoint. Note the two flashes occurred as the sun pillar developed, faded, then reappeared even stronger.
This was one of the brightest pillars I've captured.

Not much colors this morning because there were not much clouds. I thought I'd try a little composing to make a dull picture better.
Taken 12 minutes before sunrise.

A near hit and only got a trace of rain. Taken 19 June. This storm was at the tail end of a squall line that eventually extended from the Kansas/Nebraska border to South Dakota.

I Talked to a Lady, by Tanya Howden
I talked to a lady yesterday
She didn’t know my name
She was amazed to hear about my past
and the places I had been
Her daughter’s life so similar
filled her with awe and fear
She looked at me bewildered
could this really be real?
We talked about her family
We talked about her past
We talked about the folk she’d known
Their walk their talk their cheer
The ones who floated through her world
And those who stopped to share
We talked about the future
her hopes her dreams her fears
We talked about her sorrows
All the sadness life threw in
We talked about her children –
(Some things I shouldn’t hear!)
We giggled and cried and laughed
at a life so rich so full
And in a moment shared
sat in silence with our thoughts …
And I whispered “Goodnight Mother”
as her eyes succumbed to dreams
I talked to a lady today
She didn’t know my name
She was amazed to hear about my past
and the places I had been
Her daughter’s life so similar
filled her with awe and fear
She looked at me bewildered

African Couple, Stone Sculpture - An unusual stone sculpture from Africa, an emotive couple carved from one block of a light purple quartz mineral. It measures about 22” long and 14” tall. For display only, not for sale.
A Water Lily had a little intruder photo bomb the picture as I was about to take it. I obliged since it was so anxious to get in the picture. Taken at Lake Lenexa in Lenexa Kansas.
Cedar Falls Ridge. Near Strawberry Point, the walk to Cedar Falls from the parking area is short and easy. This is another beautiful overlook near Bryce Canyon and Duck Creek Village, UT.

Looking southwest, a weakening thunderstorm captured the last of the fading sky fire. After twilight ended this cell regenerated to produce some nice lightning within 15 miles from my house.

Beyond A Shadow Of A Do(g)ubt - IMRAN™
Beyond a shadow of a doubt, my German Shepherd Dogs Kennedy and K2 are pretty well-behaved. During a drive in the neighborhood, I saw the setting sun and took the opportunity to stop and take this photo. No editing or color tweaking of any kind. This is an empty lot next to one of Kennedy's loves, the gorgeous English Lab, Riley. Riley also has an identical baby sister puppy just a month or so older than K2 whom K2 has not yet gotten to have playtime with. Hopefully this summer they can go on a double date!
