(New) Moon (Tampa) Bay At Magical Florida Sunset - IMRAN™

Tonight’s stunning dusk shows a lesser known fact about Apollo Beach, where I’m blessed to live. Even on days ending in “average” sunsets, the deep hues and vivid shades of dusk cast their own magic on the beautiful calm waters of Tampa Bay, with a still new moon glistening above the horizon.

I ran away from home again yesterday and went for a drive across the state and up around and all over. The Great Lakes always offer nice photo ops no matter what time of year.

From Las Vegas looking Westward over Mt. Charleston towards California. Must be a fire somewhere.

Cuteness Overload Warning - Vicious Puppy K2 "Attacking" Patient Playful German Shepherd Kennedy - IMRAN™ (Part 1)

(My 91st post and first video in Flickr Explore! Part 2 at flic.kr/p/2jKZ5q9 )

This one deserves a cuteness overload warning! Kennedy and K2 had been together for almost one week as I made this video. We had come home from a walk. It was a pleasant night so I sat on a chair to watch vicious GSD puppy K2 constantly attack poor perfectly patient and playful German Shepherd Kennedy. Some of K2's poses will make you think he is a bear. Others will remind you of Muhammad Ali, as he punches and dances, with Kennedy enjoying being his sparring partner as a parent or older brother would, although they had not even completed 7 days of being together. Kennedy is such a smart and wise dog. See how he constantly checks with me to make sure he is not overdoing anything. But he also naturally makes sure not to actually injure the puppy. What a great pair of dogs these two are.

Taken 17 Aug ~3:45PM with iPhone 11 Pro Max in slow motion (240 fps) mode. All but the brilliant return stoke was used from the frames with some lightning in them. This stacked images consisted of 13 frames. Temperature was 87F with RH at 19%. This is the type of lightning that causes wild fires.

This bolt was about 5 miles away. This image is equivalent of an exposure of just 0.05 second.

Verity on long term lone to Ilfracombe, a 20 metre high bronze statue weighs over 25 tons standing on a stack of legal books is a big fascination to tourists. The artist is Damien Hirst of course.

Using an iPhone 11 Pro Max in slow motion mode, I captures 25 negatively charged cloud to ground strikes in 8 minutes. Looking at normal speed video, most strikes were barely visible by eye since they occurred within 1/5000 of a second. However, most strikes occurred as multiple flashes (the main lightning channel had a repeat of 4 to 6 strikes within a 1/25s. Slow motion was essential with this severe thunderstorm.

Another advantage with high speed video is that the lightning frames do not record scanning bar artifacts with bright lightning.

I did record one event that lasted 3 to 4 seconds where the lightning seem to freeze for 1/2s to 1s. Highly unusual.

Anyway, day lightning is quite challenging to capture. Taken 7 Jun at a distance of about 10 miles.

Fun fact: Multiple strikes, when they occur appear as 4 or 5 strokes (60% of all multiple strikes). The duration of the multiple strikes (50% average 1/5000th of a second).

A lightning discharge between cloud and ground initiated by a downward-moving, negatively-charged stepped leader. Abbreviated "-CG". Negative CGs are more common than positive CGs. Most of the lightning you can see striking the ground in a storm is of the negative cloud-to-ground variety.

Negative cloud-to-ground lightning strikes can be identified visually and in photographs by their distinctive downward branching (aside from the portion of the channel very close to the ground, where upward leaders can be branched upward).

Our Daily Challenge: Lockdown Tabletop

I feel blessed to have been able to go out early this morning and get some groceries. One of the gems that I was able to pick up were fresh picked local strawberries.

Was it the pulp in the tomato soup or the addition of frozen turkey meatballs that exploded out of the bowl? In any case, it was one big mess. One photo a day. (66/366) -- March 6, 2020

Taken 14 minutes before sunrise on 18 Nov. The intensity of red overpowered my iPhone 11 Pro Max. The entire sky was aflame and I could not capture it good enough to my satisfaction.

Beautiful Blue Blissful Beach Boating (SOOC iPhone Panorama).- IMRAN™

It was a stunningly beautiful blue and blissful beach & boating day when I took this handheld panorama photo with the iPhone 11 Pro Max. It is pretty amazing how good cell phone cameras have gotten.

Yes, you can notice the slight banding of two shades of water on the left and right side near the middle of the photo. The horizon may not be perfectly level, possibly due to my movement right to left to avoid getting the moving dogs and boat in the subsequent frames, which would either make them blurry or be erased by the algorithms.

But what a gorgeous day to capture. You can see various boaters in the channel heading in and one jet ski heading out past this neighbor's lot I was standing on.

No edit, no filters. Straight out of camera (SOOC) image. I merely added my name at the bottom right. Enjoy this moment of gratitude I am blessed to share with you and keep me in your prayers.

“Kalachuche is a small, deciduous tree, 3 to 7 meters high, with a crooked trunk, smooth and shining stems, succulent, with abundant sticky, milky latex. Bark has a smooth, papery outer layer which is grey, shining, and constantly exfoliating in small flakes. Wood is yellowish-white and soft.”

Blue & Gold Morning Tampa Bay Florida At Low Tide - IMRAN™

Can you see the osprey flying past me under the height of the upstairs windows? Super low tides at Apollo Beach always create beautiful moments. But when aligned with certain hours and light conditions, the effect can be surreal. The sand on either side of the boating channel at my blessed home is obviously all of the same color, consistency and texture. However, with the way the early morning rising sun's golden rays paint the sand further away more red and yellow, the sandy beach up against my seawall shows much more of its white and light nature. This is actually a panorama created from about 8 handheld iPhone 11 Pro Max photos taken from the upstairs bay windows to give the full perspective of the colors playing off each other. Another moment of gratitude.

Our Daily Challenge: On Wheels

And so it begins. A couple of weeks ago I mentioned “wouldn’t it be nice if we had a pergola off one Mom’s bedroom on the side of our house.” Tom thought that it was a great idea, and today he started the preliminary work.
