ENG: So beautifully empty here! Just me, my camera and the peace and quiet. After my car broke down yesterday on Christmas Day and was towed away, I took the U5 underground line along the new section to see the new stations and take pictures of the Bundestag. So you can also enjoy the wonderful view.
Built between 1884 and 1894 in the Tiergarten district in the neo-Renaissance style by the architect Paul Wallot, the building on the left bank of the River Spree housed both the Reichstag of the German Empire and the Reichstag of the Weimar Republic. Initially, the Federal Council of the Reich also met there. The Reichstag, democratically elected according to the constitution of 1919, met for the first time in this building on 24 June 1920. After severe damage caused by the Reichstag fire of 1933 and the Second World War, the building was restored in a modernized form in the 1960s and fundamentally redesigned from 1991 to 1999. On April 19, 1999, the keys were handed over to the President of the Bundestag Wolfgang Thierse. Since then, the German Bundestag has met there.

GER: So schön leer hier!
Juni 1920 erstmals in diesem Gebäude zusammen.

The skating rink at Rockefeller Center is the #1 tourist attraction in NYC during Christmas season. The hunt for the huge Christmas tree every year is well-publicized, and the lighting of the tree has a carnival-like atmosphere which many mark as the actual beginning of the Christmas season. Somehow I managed to get a few minutes at the rail overhead despite the crowds of tourists.
The statue of Prometheus overlooking the skating rink is the best known and most photographed monument in all of New York City. "Created by Paul Manship (1885-1966) who held a great fascination for mythological subjects and events, it has become the main attraction of the Lower Plaza. Its central theme is best stated by the quote that’s carved in the red granite wall behind him, taken from the sixth-century B.C. Greek dramatist Aeschylus: 'Prometheus, Teacher in Every Art, Brought the Fire That Hath Proved to Mortals a Means to Mighty Ends.'"

Yesterday was a very big day for me. I set out on a challenge that I have had in mind for some time. An early start in Portknockie so that I could be at the north face car park by 9:30am. We walked up the glen then started our ascent of Ben Nevis via Tower Ridge, which is seen here as the middle ridge mostly in shadow in the right of the image. This is a steep, very exposed and at times, tricky climb/scramble which tops out pretty much at the summit of the highest mountain in the UK. The climb is graded as a 3S which is the hardest scrambling grade and has a couple pitches of rock climbing graded as difficult. The complete ridge is total of around 600m and starts at around 650m. After summiting, we walked down via the Carn Mor Dearg Arête which affords stunning views of the Ben as seen in this image. A long, challenging and hugely rewarding day in absolutely stunning, perfect conditions.
ENG: The Elbphilharmonie (nicknamed "Elphi") had a construction period from 2007 to 2016 and is a concert hall in Hamburg. The opening ceremony took place on 11 January 2017. It was planned with the aim of creating a new landmark for the city and a "cultural monument for all". The entire project then cost around 866 million euros. The 110 metre high building in the HafenCity district is located on the right bank of the Norderelbe at the tip of the Großen Grasbrook and has 26 floors and 29 elevators.
It was built using the shell of the former Kaispeicher A warehouse from 1963. A modern structure with a glass façade reminiscent of sails, water waves, icebergs or a quartz crystal was placed on this plinth. The location at the Kaiserhöft is characterised by the former industrial use of the harbour and the neo-Gothic brick architecture of the Speicherstadt.
A little tip:
Currently, you can still visit the Plaza platform for free. This is located at a height of 37 m and thus between the old, traditional harbour warehouse and the new, glass structure of the Elbphilharmonie. Visitors will be able to walk around the entire building.

I've uploaded this image of the brief aurora storm on 17 Sep to illustrate that even with a smartphone, one can capture a decent image of the northern lights.
The high iso and short exposure created a lot of noise but heck, any port in an aurora storm is okay. This is a panorama of 4 adjacent images merged in Lightroom.
Note the Big Dipper left.

ENG: We're really starting to reach our limit. The mortality rate is rising enormously and the staff ...! Oh yes, I'm fine so far, but I hardly have time to take care of Flickr here. So please do not be sad.

The hazy lazy Days of Summer. We are now entering the "Dog Days". Taken 31 July with iPhone 11 Pro Max.
Picture of the Day
Background shot taken in downtown Fort Smith, Arkansas by a Nikon D7100. The chopper image was taken by an iPhone 11 Pro Max in south Olathe, Kansas in front of a QT convenience store. The colors made for a good marriage.

ENG: So this is what home office would look like for me. But unfortunately, I don't have the luck or perhaps the misfortune. But now I have a few days off at a stretch and can follow my hobby and work a little on my JavaScript code project. Because it's too cold for taking pictures outside. ☻

GER: So würde bei mir also Home Office aussehen. ☻
