The BCOL cowls are some of my favourite motors still rolling around. 4605 joins three SD70s on A408 as it sprints south out of Champaign.
Of course, these engines no longer power trains anymore today, but this one evening, this ones engine was howling as it accelerated the train south with its EMD partners.

Howling coyote, having a bad day or something, howling like crazy for a long time until he/she got tired of me and wandered off.
One last post tonight from this weekends trip up to Bear Rocks at Dolly Sods Wilderness in West Virginia.
While this autumn scene may look nice and warm, the reality is it was FREEZING! The temps had dropped into the 30's with winds howling at 20+ mph. At some points the wind was blowing SO hard I could hardly stand still while trying to shoot, and poor Michele was trying to use her tripod which she had to keep a hand on as so it wouldn't blow over.
After spending the day up here with these temps I must admit that I am not looking forward to winter being around the corner.

I took this photo one evening back in 2006 of a wolf statue in someone's yard. I lined it up with a moon-lit cloud and this was the result. I felt like posting it since all my early flickr posts were deleted and some of my newer contacts never saw them.

last nights super moon rising as the sun set .i left the houses in for scale and effect ,works for me anyway .560mm resting camera on a stone wall ,i tried walking down the road to get closer but it didn't work ,can't figure out why LOL

the cats and i are relocating slightly! they have not been doing so well since the dog & kids arrived, so we are shifting over to the little cottage Lækjarkot here at Djúpavík — so the catboys can have their own space & won’t be so frightened. but first they have to check it all out!
(the bonus is, I will likely sleep much better, not worrying that they are waking everyone else up by howling!)
MediaCityUK Footbridge
The footbridge across the Ship Canal at MediaCityUK Salford Quays. I was standing on this bridge in a howling gale when I took those photos of storm clouds that I posted before. This bridge opens by swinging like a giant door!

This was a great subject to draw. Long and short hair and plenty of light and dark areas. All good combinations for pen and ink.

I finally made it! The Mach Loop has been on my “to do” list for quite some time. A steep climb, howling winds, long periods of nothing, cold that would have a brass monkey in tears, and no toilets. Perfect ingredients for a day of photography. And when the action does happen, you have about 10 seconds to prepare. I’m now addicted. Apart from the steep climb thing. Does anyone know if there is a government grant available to have a Stannah Stairlift fitted to a Welsh mountain?
A glorious stormy sunset with a wall of intricately shaped rocks looking exactly like a pack of howling creatures ( dragons, dogs, you name it... )
JAX has very different behavior at 5 a.m....he is howling as if he were hurt....and once he has your attention, he stares such as this until food is forthcoming. And not that dry yucky kibble stuff, but the favored wet food for senior indoor kitties...lol. Oh I love this boy. Happy Caturday to all our friends.
