This steaming and usually bright blue lagoon lies in an 1886 crater blown in the side of Mt. Haszard. Lake level follows complicated rhythmic cycles with shallow recessions occurring every few days and/or deeper recessions at longer intervals. The top of the white silica deposit marks overflow level. Its most common behavior is to overflow for two or three days, recede about eight metres during some 15 days, partly refill over for three or four weeks, oscillate for a while, and then start to overflow again. The lake bed is roughly trumpet-shaped. Its depth when full is 30 metres, and overflow temperatures can reach 80 degrees. The water is highly acidic with a pH sometimes of 2.1. Inferno Crater is the largest geyser-like feature in the world although the geyser itself cannot be seen since it plays at the bottom of the lake. It has a unique relationship with the Frying Lake: when Inferno crater lake is overflowing, there is a decrease in the discharge from the Frying Lake, and when Inferno Crater lake is receding the discharge from Frying Lake is greater then usual

Craters of the Moon and the Wairakei Geothermal Field are part of what is known as the Taupo Volcanic Zone. the zone stretches as far south as Tongariro National Park and as far north as White Island off the coast of Bay of Plenty. It is a region of active volcanoes and geothermal activity; an area that reminds us New Zealand is a young country balanced on top of two ever-moving sections of the earth's crust - the Pacific and Indo Australian plates.

so i haven't uploaded much because
a) my laptop currently has no internet access
b) i can't be fussed with dialup, or having to crawl under the desk to hook up my camera to my dad's computer
c) i've been super busy working with these guys and ms mancino, and at my rubbish temp job for the NHS
d) it's just been too sodding hot to do things like upload photos in the evening
but Litt'lans are playing The Spitz next Tuesday, come along and say hi
ps. i blatantly stole this photo from jackie boom boom.
The climb of Mt. Ngauruhoe, or better know as Mt. Doom for a reshoot of the triology final Lord of the Rings. Unfortunately we didn't had a ring, so we had to use a 'supernatural' key-ring instead. Anthony as Frodo and me as Sam. So Anthony's job were the dramatic faces while my job was just to stand next to him doing nothing, having the hands in the pocket and watch with a glassy look in the eyes.
However, as we made it to the scene we needed to take a rest first, before our grande break through. I thought a bottle of wine was on its place to celebrate the save arrival after scrawling through the lands of Mordor, locally known as Tongariro NP, but anyway.

And that sentiment is about all I can muster, for I am still bloated with turkey meats.
Peace unto you, peeps.

It was very hard for me to think about this week's assignment, considering the temperature has lowered a lot and winter is arriving. One week of grey days so I couldn't think of anything hot. Today I had to shoot the little warm and beautiful things Miss Marta does with wool... and i thought that if your keep your feet warm, on winter, you might feel HOT HOT HOT!

Ever feel like you just don't fit in? Or you stick out like a sore thumb? Me too. And I think that's a good thing.
I took this last weekend at the flower fields in Carlsbad. Boy was it hot that day! I'm not totally thrilled with the quality but I do like the shot.
I'm listening to Pearl Jam right now.....Eddie is in the same city as me for the next two days and I don't get to see him. Does anyone wanna give me $2000 so I can buy a ticket? (If I only had a million dollars) Rich even went to some radio promo thingy to try and win me tickets...no luck...sigh. See you next time Eddie. I promise.
