The central AC unit for the upstairs of my house is out - unfortunately, that is where my home office and computer are located. Yesterday when I got home from work the temperature was 99 degrees up here. Until I can get a day off work to meet the AC repairman, I will be visiting Flickr very infrequently and for short bursts of time only. I'll be downstairs where it's cool if anyone needs me...

I just jumped on my old computer (which was inadvertently left on) to find this image sitting in the flickr uploader. Thought maybe it was destined to go up. :-)
It was 3000 degrees that day. I really felt for those guys in their black tuxes... Never heard a complaint from them though. It was a truly fun wedding. Especially after the sun went down. Here the groom is listening to the reverend as she shares with us all the meaning behind the sand ceremony.
"Hot! Hot! Hot!"
June 28 - July 15, 2012.
Curators: Tracy Wilkerson and Tamara Wilkerson.
What comes to mind when you hear: "Hot! Hot! Hot!"? The surface of the sun, steamy dances, ice melting on the sidewalk... That's just what we asked area artists to do. No matter what our artists cook up, this show will definitely be hot!

The climb of Mt. Ngauruhoe, or better know as Mt. Doom for a reshoot of the triology final Lord of the Rings. Unfortunately we didn't had a ring, so we had to use a 'supernatural' key-ring instead. Anthony as Frodo and me as Sam. So Anthony's job were the dramatic faces while my job was just to stand next to him doing nothing, having the hands in the pocket and watch with a glassy look in the eyes.
However, as we made it to the scene we needed to take a rest first, before our grande break through. I thought a bottle of wine was on its place to celebrate the save arrival after scrawling through the lands of Mordor, locally known as Tongariro NP, but anyway.

summer heat over 100 degrees today. Too hot for shoes! Yikes...Monkey and me in need of a pedi if we are going to sport the barefoot boogies.
This week there was a photo challenge for the 52 Weeks for Dogs group, and the theme was "Catch!" Ollie's a fabulous catcher of all manner of thrown item, so I was really looking foward to getting some fun action shots! Didn't happen. It's hot, and my household -- human and beast alike -- has grown lethargic whether indoors or out. (In fact, my husband took himself a nice little ambulance ride to the hospital last week, compliments of the wicked heat.) Ollie made some great catches of bubbles, but I didn't catch them with my camera. At least not well. But in this shot, well...he's catching a breeze?
Watch dancers perform some popular dances, and maybe try some of those moves to dance floor music after the performances.
This event is part of the "Hot! Hot! Hot!" art exhibit which runs June 28 through July 15, 2012 at the Del Ray Artisans gallery. Curators: Tracy Wilkerson and Tamara Wilkerson
The Frying Lake overflows through this notch at a temperature of about 50 degrees with a flow of about 110 litres a second. Along its margins the stream forms deposits which contain traces of elements such as antimony, molybdenum, arsenic and tungsten. These minerals, along with blue-green algae, form spectacular orange, brown, green and yellow colours seen along the edge and about the hot springs
It was my last day at work today - am 38 weeks and maternity leave starts here! H is out tonight so I decided to treat myself to a curry, and seeing as my planned PAD for today didn't quite work out I thought I would use this instead. That IS bokeh I'm seeing isn't it? I THINK I know what it is now, but I'm still never quite 100% sure so do tell me if I'm wrong!
Think this is also the first photo I've posted to HPAD that I haven't edited at all - it came out much better than I imagined! (Oh, and the curry was YUM).

On the first of April 1917 the western basin of the Echo Crater violently erupted, completely destroying an accommodation house located in front of the side. The deepened and enlarged crater quickly accumulated water and formed what is now known as the Frying Lake. The lake covers 38000 square meters, being the world largest hot spring, with an average depth of six meters. The average lake temperature is about 55 degrees. The lake is highly acidic as well, with a pH of about 3.5, while the carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulphide gas bubbling up gives the appearance of boiling. In fact in vents on the lake bed real boiling is occurring, but the body of the lake is somewhat cooler because of evaporation, convection and radiation of its heat.
