The Host project suggests that for a moment we abandon our anthropomorphic worldview and think about life (well actually think about sex) from the perspective of an insect. We are invited to join an audience of 200 live crickets, who are attending a very serious scientific lecture on the sex life of insects, which we quickly realise is rather more complex and interesting than our own! One screen shows the heavily pixelated talking-head of the scientist, the other an image of an oscilloscope signal. The oscilloscope image with its crackling sound-track was obtained under laboratory conditions and is a direct recording of the electrical activity in the aural nerve centre of a cricket listening to the sex lecture. From one perspective the creature becomes a type of electro-physiological microphone—but at a deeper metaphorical level we are asked to re-consider our own perceptual assumptions about the world.

Hosted by the School of Media and Public Affairs at the George Washington University with the White House Correspondents' Association.
USFC hosted the prestigious International dance festival organized by Spandan on 10th January and 11th January at Gujarat University Convention Hall as a part of exchange of culture. Apart from India there were dancers from 4 countries who showcased their talent on stage. A group of 17 girls of USFC put schools name forward by performing a traditional ‘kathak’ dance. With their graceful steps and confident gestures, they left everybody present in the hall mesmerized. No body could stop clapping throughout the whole performance. 11th January, being the last day of the festival, was attended by our trustee Shri Gautambhai Choksi and Executive Director Shri Manan Choksi. The evening ended with national anthems of all the participating countries being sung with pride and honour.
Team APG hosted a Strong B.A.N.D.S. “Run to Honor” 5-mile run/ 3.1-mile walk at APG North (Aberdeen) June 10. Participants walked or ran to honor local or fallen service members and friends.

Air Transport Division Working Women's Committee Meeting held on March 4th & 5th in Dallas, TX hosted by Local 556.
The Harbor City Roller Girls hosted members of the North Star Roller Girls and the Minnesota Rollergirls in an all-star, black-on-white night of roller derby to promote the sport in their home town.
As an NSRG league photographer - and one who knows how good all three of these leagues are - I couldn't resist making the trip.
Although the watermark says "North Star Roller Girls Media Team," you're seeing members of all three leagues here about evenly. Everyone had a blast, and the crowd was big and enthusiastic. Good! I hope HCRD sold a lot of tickets that night! They're an awesome league with many awesome skaters.
