The Nebraska National Guard hosted the Region V National Guard Best Warrior Competition, May 14-16, 2019, at the Greenlief Training Site near Hastings, Nebraska. The three-day competition includes the top noncommissioned officer and Soldier from each of the seven states in the region - Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska Oklahoma, and Texas - who then compete for a spot in the National Guard's national competition later this year. The competition consists of various weapon exercises, physical fitness challenges, an unknown-distance ruck march and other Army warrior tasks. (Nebraska National Guard photo by Staff Sgt. Elmora School 12 hosted its annual Multicultural Show, ”One World, Many Stories” on Friday, June 5th. Parents and students in the audience danced and sang along with the performers on stage. Many standing ovations were given to the performers. Dances, poetry, and songs from all over the world were showcased. Teachers surprised the audience with a dance of many Medleys from all over the world.
The highlight of the show was the parade, where over 100 students walked into the Gym to the song “Coming to America.” Students and staff members walked in a line wearing native clothing from their country, waving the American Flag. It was an emotional and patriotic beginning. Students and parents were able to celebrate diversity, learn about other cultures, and pay tribute to this great country for educating so many children from all over the world!

The 2023 Traditional Food Fair was hosted by the Organized Village of Kake and Ecotrust with support of the First Nations Development Institute, Sealska, Edgerton Foundation, and the Sustainable Southeast Partnership. Many generous community members and volunteers made the event a success including the Kake basketball teams!
Delicious traditional wild foods were served and gifted to community members. Deer and moose adobo, fried halibut, herring egg salad, crab salad, and Ravens Delight were prepared thanks to gifted wild foods and the master preparation by chef Tony Abbott, helper John Williams Sr and many volunteers. The most incredible, endless serving of fry bread was expertly prepared and cooked by the Davis family.
The Keex’ Kwaan Dancers performed for the first time in the community all together since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Community members brought potluck dishes and also submissions for the traditional food competition which was judged by a panel of elders and traditional food harvesters with excellent taste!
Gunalchéesh, haw’aa to everyone who came to share food, dance, song, and be in community.

Summit convenes experts from the White House, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, key government agencies and outside groups

North hosted Lincoln on January 23rd. The Lincoln boys finished with a winning score of 72-59, and the Lincoln girls finished with a winning score of 81-18.
Hosted by the Penn/Jersey Region Ferrari Club of Amercia and held on the grounds of the Reading Country Club. The event contained many fine examples of Ferrari's new and old. Besides the day being a bit moist it was an excellent event.
