Life has never been easy for either of us. We've both always had to just keep surviving. Our relationship and our happiness has always had some kind of test and obstacle, with a little luck and some time though that will all change. Love isn't always gumdrops and ice cream. The beautiful lies told by the fairy tales we grew up with do not prepare us for what love actually is. Truth is, love is chaotic and blissful at the same time. It's effortless to feel but needs some work to maintain. With all the challenges we have faced and are facing now, we've never had it easy. Then again nothing easy was ever worth fighting for to begin with. I love you and I'll be right here with you and for you no matter what comes our way.

Your home will always be here.

I’ve been waiting for you ... for so long

A pair of ex-BN SD70MACs lead the Butte-Garrison turn north on the former Montana Western south of Deer Lodge, Montana paralleling the remains of the Milwaukee Road's former Pacific Extension.

The history of this line is long and complicated. It started out as the Utah and Northern, a 3' gauge railroad controlled by Union Pacific spanning 466 miles between Ogden, Utah and Garrison, Montana. Completed in 1883, it was one of the longest narrow gauge railroads in history. The railroad was converted to standard gauge in 1887, and UP assumed full control in 1889.

Building an alternate route through copper country, the Northern Pacific expanded into Butte in 1889, and the Utah and Northern between Silver Bow and Garrison was reorganized as the Montana Union Railway, jointly owned by NP and UP. The Panic of 1893 forced the bankrupt Union Pacific to give up its interest in the Montana Union, and the Northern Pacific took over the former Utah and Northern between Silver Bow and Garrison.

Under Northern Pacific ownership, these rails saw the railroad's premier passenger train, the North Coast Limited. Under BN ownership, Amtrak continued to operate its North Coast Hiawatha over the line until its discontinuation in 1979. In 1986, BN leased it to the Montana Western, which BNSF bought back in 2003 to prevent UP from acquiring a direct connection with the MRL.

Quilt inspired by the song "Home" by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. Used Elizabeth Haugh's Refrigerator Magnets pattern for the alphabet but adjusted it for paper piecing. Fabrics are Anna Maria Horner's Little Folks (voile) and Kona in Charcoal.

Well, it seems that every year, I find myself climbing up to my old spot and trying to recreate this shot... Every time, the conditions give me something different. This is what it was like on New Year's eve, 2011. So far, this is my favorite one, I think...

It's a panorama (barely) of 2 horizontal shots stitched together, using the Zeiss 18mm - hence the barrel distortion... CS4 actually did a much better job with the stitching than I'm used to with PtGui...

hope you like it...

thanks for looking

For as long as I can remember, this tiny little house has been someone's home. It even has a tiny little deck on the back.

View from the family room of the house where I grew up, on the occasion of my final visit there. In the distance, the bluff overlooks Lake Erie.

Sorting through old photos, I'm posting some interesting ones. This image was uploaded to Flickr on Oct. 24, 2021.

Thank you to everyone who visits, faves, and comments.

NJT 4109 returns to home rails, making its first revenue appearance on the Raritan Valley Line, seen leading train 5445 into Bound Brook. The former CNJ 3677 was added to commemorate the retirement of the trains engineer.

An osprey with a flair for color, lands on her DIY nest near Heise, Idaho. For this shot I used the lightweight and compact Nikon 300 mm PF lens with a 1.4 multiplier.
