A breathtaking, layered view captures the serene beauty of a traditional Japanese village nestled within a mountainous landscape, likely during the peak of the autumn season. The photograph is composed vertically, building a strong sense of depth from the dense foreground foliage to the distant, sun-kissed mountain ridge. The overall lighting suggests either early morning or late afternoon, as a soft, golden light bathes the high peaks, while the valley below remains slightly shadowed and cool.

The immediate foreground is dominated by the sharp, delicate green of bamboo shoots or young trees, providing a vibrant, textural contrast to the darker, heavier evergreens that surround it. Beyond this lush green, the middle ground presents a cluster of traditional Japanese rooftops—the dark, sweeping, tiled roofs with their characteristic gentle curves immediately identify the setting as deeply historical and cultural. These low-slung, dark structures harmonize beautifully with the natural environment, suggesting a community that exists in balance with the surrounding forest.

Framing the view are the dense woods, alive with the colors of fall. On the left, pockets of fiery red and orange maple leaves peek through the darker greenery, adding striking visual warmth. The forest line ascends the hills, acting as a dramatic curtain before the distant peaks. The background is dominated by a majestic mountain ridge, where the slopes are painted in lighter, golden-brown hues of autumnal transition. A soft mist or low cloud cover hovers just above the mid-ground, subtly separating the dark village from the luminous mountains. This image perfectly encapsulates the tranquil, timeless beauty of the Japanese countryside, capturing the dramatic seasonal change and the elegant simplicity of its traditional architecture against a monumental natural backdrop.

View over the Village of Vernazza part of the Vinque Terre National Park.

This photo was taken a little over a year ago over one of my favorite places I've found in this world...Vernazza in the Cinque Terre National Park. Today marks the 1-year anniversary of the devastating floods and mudslides that ripped through the Cinque Terre villages of Monterosso and Vernazza, burying their streets under as much as 12 feet of mud and debris.

And then, all of a sudden, spring has finally arrived.

Roofs of Firenze viewed from the tower of Palazzo Vecchio.

If you look carefully, you can see people on the top of the dome of Duomo. The height of the dome is 375 ft (114.5 m). View from that place is quite spectacular. Climbing up there is bit of a challenge. You have to go up 463 spiral stone steps that can be as narrow as 4 to 5 ft wide. Some sections have no window. If you are acrophobic or closed-phobic, I wouldn't recommend. To be honest, I'm a bit of both. But I could manage somehow. Once you reach the top, it feels like you are in heaven. After all, it's the highest place in Firenze. I photographed this image from the Companile (bell tower) located on the other end of Duomo. Comparing to climbing Duomo, climbing Camapanile is a picnic.

After a long time of plum rain season this month, we got a brilliant sunset finally for the early summer. Love the burgundy tone of the clouds. However, grass grows high with the rain.

梅雨季節過後,終於盼來一個美麗的夕陽,好久沒來拇指山,蘆葦都長得好高。

The conjunction of Moon and Venus does not happen every day. This may be the last time of this year. I went to Mt. Shitou to get the best view of this special astrology phenomenon with the sunset after glow too.

今天霞光大噴,但是月亮下山得較晚,一直在等眉月與金星下降到比較低的角度,幸好霞光還剩一點點!

Description: 2014-04-07 - This shot was taken during my last visit to the Trader's Sky Bar. Missing out on the awesome sunset the previous day and also the burning sunrise that day made me determined to go out for a sunset session with two other friends. Though it was raining approximately an hour before sunset, Alhamdulillah the sky clears just enough to let the golden ray of the sun to shine gloriously that afternoon. The image is part of a sequence of images taken for a Day to Night Timelapse over Kuala Lumpur City.

This shooting spot is packed with photographers before sunset. There were about 100 tripods that afternoon there. I arrived the spot 1:25pm with 2 of my friends and waited for the golden tone to color the Chinese Silver Grass.

那天與Liping一起上大屯山,聽說前一天2:00pm就滿了,我們特地1:30之前抵達,後來大約集結了100隻左右的腳架,大家都很有熱情呢!

Photographing a sunrise scene of Firenze is lot easier than photographing sunset. The reason, of course, is no crowd. You can have this spectacular view to yourself (although, occasionally, you may have to work out with wedding photographers).
