I think this is a Scalloped Hook-tip moth, there were a few of them sheltering in an old derelict slate mine.
This species has an unusual resting posture, with the wings held in an arch over the back, resembling a dried leaf. It is mainly a woodland species, and feeds as a larva on birch (Betula). Double-brooded, the adults can be found on the wing in May and June, then again in August.
It is reasonably common over much of Britain in suitable habitat.
A large number of these vehicles are grouped together covered in thickets of vines, brush, and briars and difficult to photograph. This 1941 Chevy is one of those cars in this yard that only sees the sun shining during the winter months.

514. Birthday of Leonhart Fuchs, his name preserved by the plant Fuchsia, discovered in the Dominican Republic in the Caribbean in 1696/97 by the French scientist Dom Charles Plumier, who published the first description of "Fuchsia triphylla, flore coccineo" in 1703. The color fuchsia is also named for him, describing the purplish-red of the shrub's flowers.

There are a couple of dens in Aillwee caves where bears hibernated an estimated 1500 years ago. The species of brown bear that used to live in the area has been extinct for a thousand years.

The Nordic Terrier spends a great deal of it's winter season in search of extra pillows, duvets and sheepskins in which to build its nest as a regular enormous sofa does not provide the snugglatronic needs of this fastidious species.
a friend was gathering some fallen wood for kindling and happened upon this group of carpenter bees hibernating for the winter. It's interesting that there are so many in one hole, as i thought they were a fairly solitary animal that built individual homes.
for those worrying of the fate of these bees, i have placed them in a shaded and dry spot to finish out they're winter
This Kermodei bear is hibernating a few hundred metres from our neighbours' house under an old tree stump. He's awake enough to track you with his eyes, but he doesn't even move around at all, he's so sleepy. We were very quiet and went in one at a time to take photos.
After a long winter, the gloves are ready to come back; the boys of summer are honing their skills and getting ready for another year of 9th inning magic.
She's almost ready!
Her hair needs a long treatment now, so that her bangs stay down, haha.
She got new lashes (M#10 from Dollydreamshop) and a new lip sticker (from the Superior Beige sheet bought at My Little Customs).

At least for a little while! The temperature warmed up to -8C yesterday and Salander decided to venture outside, although she wasn't too happy about all of the snow.
Sorry for the lack of updates and comments over the last few weeks, I've been struggling to feel well after my first serious bout with the flu since 2003 (possibly H1N1?). For some reason winter doubles the work I have to do at home and at work and it's also the time when I feel the least motivated to do anything. *shakes fists*
