Top drawer cabins: kitchens and an occasional hot tub.

a friend was gathering some fallen wood for kindling and happened upon this group of carpenter bees hibernating for the winter. It's interesting that there are so many in one hole, as i thought they were a fairly solitary animal that built individual homes.

for those worrying of the fate of these bees, i have placed them in a shaded and dry spot to finish out they're winter

When snow fell in our garden, I found this gnome sleeping comfortably under a white, soft blanket of snow.

The 'canals' in Frederiksberg Have were frozen at this time.

Not completely, as this shot shows….

This lil fella sheltered inbetween this vine leaf and our office window for a week.

One of the first signs of spring is when the desert tortoises appear again and they're HUNGRY!

hibernating leaf-tail gecko (uroplatus). when they don't have enough food or the temperature is to low they go into an hibernation state and act as a leaf.

Even Death Valley gets cold enough in the winter to cause bats to hibernate in the old mine shafts. These two were so sound asleep that you could stroke their fur.

This old Chrysler sleeps in a garage until the day someone thinks it worthy of restoration
