Yellow and only a little green

Here's a surprise image from Old Car City.

The Vanishing point is a history of linear perspective. And, as such, is the practice of creating the illusion of three-dimensional depth on a two-dimensional surface. Sometimes, the intersection is off the page and leads to a different looking image. Here, the vanishing point aligns with the horizon, as it must, but just to the right of the frame. This technique was used to further emphasize the conditions of the area.

Once again in the Nicola Valley, it is late afternoon, and in the summer heat. The tops of dry grasses are highlighted, and form a line leading toward the horizon. Shadows play their part as the sun is only peaking over the hills, just outside the frame. The area is exceptionally dry and experiencing a drought. Strangely enough, last year this area was flooded and only the hills were visible.

Well, exactly 16 MONTHS!! after building my pond specifically to attract frogs, Finally yesterday the day arrived when one turned up...I'd begun to give up hope of there ever being any frogs in there! mostly coz I live in a concrete jungle so I've got nooooooooooooooooo idea how the lil ol froggie got there in the 1st place, it must have been some journey across busy roads and various other dangers en-route, but it made it..It certainly couldn't have found a better home mind you, having been there for soooooooooooo long, it's now fully established and full of food and places to shelter, with rocks and cool hiding places.:) Here's hoping for the patter of tiny frogletts very soon.:)

Have a fabulous Humpday Wednesday Ya'll

Corona (from the Latin for 'crown') most commonly refers to:

Stellar corona, the outer atmosphere of the Sun or another star, (its also a Mexican beer brand).

The umbra, penumbra and antumbra are three distinct parts of a shadow, created by any light source after impinging on an opaque object. Assuming no diffraction, for a collimated beam (such as a point source) of light, only the umbra is cast.

These names are most often used for the shadows cast by celestial bodies, though they are sometimes used to describe levels, such as in sunspots.

This morning in Hemyock, Devon,UK.

Well, here it is, the final model: the origami Puffer Fish.

He was so kind to come out of the water for the photoshoot, lucky me ;-))

The Tongue, you saw yesterday (or see photo first comment box) is a look on the inside, or the not completely finished fish was laying on his back, so to speak. :-))

I folded it from just one sheet gold/red kaftpapier (70x70cm). Final size: length 22cm, width 14cm, height 9cm.

Here is a 4-stitch image captured at 17mm at Cobble Beach in the morning while at Acadia National Park. After twisting and jamming my foot between two cobble stones at York, Maine and nearly breaking my foot I was very leery of climbing down here and walking around. Needless to say I took the chance. Mainly because I met another photographer there this morning and he followed me down. I figured if I tried to break my foot again I had someone to get me help ;)

These cobble rocks range from one to three feet in diameter and are quite interesting to walk among as they are all not that stable.

My beloved ginkgo tree in the neighborhood.

Life has not been kind to me the last few months but I'm still here, facing each day as it comes.

Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. ~Isaiah 12:2a

Some Happy Caturday poignancy - that group has, for tomorrow's theme, your cat's favorite place. I thought I'd take some pix here of Tikki on the old stub of a gateway which she uses as a scratching post, viewpoint and roof access.

Well, the siding guys came today, and indicated that the stub of a gateway would be better removed for sake of said siding (in part, why that bit is being replaced...) and, given that there is no use for it other than a cat perch, I'm having it removed. Luckily, Tikki has other favorite places, including my lap, where she is as I am typing this.

Here's wishing everyone a happy American Thanksgiving. And for the rest of you--have the kind of day where you give thanks for all that you have. It's a wonderful world out there--if you take the time to see it.

Some Hyacinthus flowers I spotted in Montpellier's botanical garden today.

Here's a chrysanthemum that I bought yesterday. Behind it is a swatch of purple sequined fabric. The image is an 80-frame focus stack, blended with Helicon Focus.

The Black-tailed Godwits (Limosa limosa) are back here since a few days.

Shame they are absent almost 9 months per year.

Titanic Building, Belfast.... For you who don't know.

A visit to Manchester with good friends on a very wet December day. Not too many outdoor shots though.

looking for the lost soul of the void.

No, the bride isn't in this picture, you can just see the bridal suite.

To continue my story: just when I reached the crossroads with the A4135, a car decorated with white ribbons came racing down the road and turned off towards Beverston church. I was on foot, and although I ran, I was too late to admire her. But I was happy I could see the wedding suite enter the church!

For We're here! who are getting wet

Here I go again on my own .... as sang by Whitesnake ....

It was an uphill walk today ... nice views though . This first shot is looking across Dovestone Reservoir ...

Here is a macro shot of the Pheasants Eye Daffodil.

The pink in the background is a tulip.

Here's another from my Bluebird morning, pretty sure it's a female but could possibly be an immature male. Nice to have a subject at eye level from the rolling blind. This was a popular fence post with some rusty old fence cable heaped on it in a ball.

Here is a another capture from the pastures at Marbach. The mare and filly are German warmblood horses. I hope that I will be able to go there again in the near future as I would like to take some more photos of the Arabian horses who were difficult to photograph last time.

Here's another look at the Zion Narrows. The light was incredible, changing with every step almost. I left a couple people in this one for scale.
