Looking from Teesmouth National Nature Reserve across Greatham Creek towards the Able UK Yard where no longer productive oil rigs are reduced to razor blades and the Able berths where the heavylift/oversize vessels for the offshore wind industry tie-up for loading and discharge of turbine blades etc.

Heavylift's leased Pelita L100-30 Hercules PK-PLR filled in for the Hunting Electra operating the Shannon flight EIN9216/7 from/to Manchester via Dublin 21-22/9/93. Heavylift had the Herc for an Oil Spill Response contract.

Built in 1976 by Martin Jansen GmbH & Co KG SW & Mfbk. Leer (yard no. 143) as SAMSON SCAN for Blaesbjerg & Co (Bulk Tramp Rederi K/S) of Arhus. Sold in 1989 to Luhe Maritime NV of Willemstad (SAL Schiffahrtskontor Altes Land GmbH, managers) and renamed ANTJE.
Sold in 1989 to K/S Barde Team (Tor Husjord Shipping A/S of Narvik, managers) and renamed BARDE TEAM. Sank 24 December 1999 in position 06 01'S 78 39'E on voyage from Singapore to Australia.

WFU from the RAF and sold as G-BEPE on 30.03.77.

Built in 1974 by A/S Haugesunds Slip (yard no. 17) as LANGENUEN for Anders Stokka (K/S A/S Langenuen). Sold in 1984 to Simon Møkster of Stavanger and renamed STRIL LIFT. Sold in 1987 to Geir Tore Hokland of Harstad and renamed BERGLIFT.
Sold in 1989 to Mikkel Myklebusthaug and renamed LANGENUEN. Sold in 1992 to Express Shipping Ltd of Kingstown, St. Vincent and renamed CITY OF DUBAI. Sold in 1993 to Labroy Marine Ltd for conversion into a livestock carrier. Renamed CARABAO I and registered in Singapore in 1994. Sold in 2004 to Vroon BV (Charolais Express BV) and renamed CHAROLAIS EXPRESS. Sold the same year to SMC Shipping & Lighterage Corp of Manila without change of name.

Cross-Country Sikorsky
A surprise stop into Buckeye, created an opportunity to photograph this 50 year old workhorse.
Replacing an earlier scanned print with a better version 03-Feb-19.
Built in Feb-66 by Short Brothers & Harland in Belfast, NI, UK. The aircraft was first flown with the Shorts test registration G-52-13 and delivered to the UK Royal Air Force serialled XR368 in Mar-66.
A high level decision at the UK Ministry of Defence saw the whole fleet grounded by mid 1976 and this aircraft was sold to Pan African Freight Liners as G-BEPS in Apr-77. It was sold to HeavyLift Cargo Airlines in Sep-78. It was permanently retired at Southend, UK in Apr-01 and was eventually broken up there in Nov-08.
The unmistakable profile of the Boeing Chinook, with its twin rotors slicing through the sky. This heavy-lift workhorse has been a vital part of military operations and humanitarian missions worldwide for decades. A true icon of modern aviation.

Delivered to the RAF in 1966 as XR368. One of 4 a/c civilianised at SEN in 1979/80. Became G-BEPS with Transmeridian Air Cargo in 1980 and renamed Heavylift later the same year. Retired at SEN in 2001 and finally scrapped in 2008.

Heavy lift construction vessel HLCV Borealis (now known as Seven Borealis) was built by Sembawang Shipyard, in Singapore. Hull fabrication was done at the Nantong Yahua Shipyard. The crane vessel, which is owned by Subsea 7, was delivered in early 2012.

Parked at the end of runway 25 in preparation for a presidential visit, if I remember correctly.
Delivered as TF-LLF to Loftleidir Icelandic in 1964 it remains a testament to its makers just how long it continued to fly. In 1972 it was fling for Cargolux Airlines International but in 1978 becameN4993U with Cargosur Inc 1979 saw it operate with: Air Charters Zurich; STAC; Union Aerienne Africaine and United African Airlines where she adopted 5A-DGJ seen here. By 1983 she was9Q-CQS with Vic Air Cargo and in 1985 she joined Heavylift Cargo Airlines as 9Q-CQS. Then it was off to Aer Turas as EI-BRP before her final operator Heavylift Cargo Airlines. EI-BRP was withdrawn from use at Southend in mid-1990 and used for spares for Guppy EI-BND. Broken up 4.92. Even at the end she donated her organs. Alan Lord Collection
