April 11 – With the strong support from CHINAHEAVYLIFT SPMT, our client Guangdong LIFT Engineering Machinery Co.,Ltd(GPEC) was contracted by Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry to transport 3,200t giant bridge section roll-on to barge for Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge project in Zhongshan city, Guangdong province.

 

This giant bridge section, which total weighed 3,200 tonnes and had the dimensions 132.6 m x 33.1 m, were transported from the fabrication facility yard to the barge by using total 100-axle lines SPMTs. So, how to move this giant steel structure onto the barge safely and accurately? As there’s over 20m distance from the bridge section and barge, crane is not suitable for this project. Based on the analysis of actual situation, our client GPEC choose the better solution of CHINAHEAVYLIFT S2.43 Self Propelled Modular Transporters(SPMT), which is more cost-effective and easier to operate.

 

Detail CHINAHEAVYLIFT SPMT transport system configuration:

 

100 axle lines S2.43 SPMT (10 units – 6 lines module, 10 units – 4 lines module) compose 4 big SPMT module

4 PPU (390kw Mercedes Benz engine for Power Pack Unit)

1 Wireless Remote control

 

Normally it will take 5-6 hours to roll-on, but in this project, we need complete the whole process in 2 hours as the reason of Tidal influence. Also, high precision is essential for roll-on, deviation is controlled smaller than 5mm in every 100m movement. This requires everyone and every steps close-cooperation and no mistake permitted.

 

The most difficult is, when SPMT move onto the barge, the barge will swing and tilt with the change of weight. So how to keep balance? Thanks to the hydraulic steady system of CHINAHEAVYLIFT SPMT, which adopt reliable Germany brand main components and have hydraulic compensation stroke of approx. 700mm (±350mm). Hydraulic support cylinder on suspension is connected to each other by steel pipes and hose. With a cut-off valve (ball valve) for grouping the hydraulic cylinder. Support system is set to three hydraulic group according to cargo weight, center of gravity location and road conditions. This ensures a uniform axle load in Uneven road when traveling. Besides, the barge is equiped with pressurized cabin to outward drainage to ensure the balance.

 

Through two hours efforts, CHINAHEAVYLIFT SPMT successfully assist the 3200t giant bridge section roll-onto the barge, this is the first step of HZMB CB02 project, one historic move in Chinese Bridge Construction area. But For CHINAHEAVYLIFT, just another case with SPMT.

At 42,780te the topside is the heaviest load ever jacked. The piece will become part of the Arkutun Dagi field off the east coast of Russia; the development is expected to be the largest oil and gas production platform in Russia where the first oil is scheduled to be produced next year.

This is the Headquarters of Mammoet. The office is called "De Bolder". It is 42,5 meters high and has 10 floors.

 

It was build in 2002. The special thing is, it was build in a factory hall in Zwijndrecht. Then lifted on a boat and moved over water to it's final location at the heavy lift terminal in Schiedam.

 

The building weights 2500tons and Mammoet being a heavylift company, this was the ultimate prestige project.

The Removal of Two Linkspans from Seacombe Ferry Stage in Preparation for new ones to be installed in the next month during a major refit of the Mersey Ferry Terminal.

Registered in Netherlands. 14,784 gross tonnage she is 156.93 m X 25.6 m. Built in 2011 she has two tug boats on board as cargo. Don't know if they are coming or going. Found out later that the two boats on board are oil spill response vessels headed to Nanaimo, BC on Vancouver Island.

Air Foyle HeavyLift was a Cargo company based in Bishop's Stortford, United Kingdom founded in 1978. It specialised in heavy air cargo services. It was the worldwide sales agent for Antonov Airlines of Kyiv, Ukraine. This relationship ceased in June 2006 and the company ceased operations.

G-HEVY (c/n 19350 l/n 537 series -324C) was delivered to Continental Airlines in December 1966 as N17327. In April 1973 the plane was sold to Varig as PP-VLO. Varig retired it in May 1989 and sold it to Heavy Lift in January 1990 as G-HEVY. Heavylift operated it until January 1996 and then leased the plane to Ariana Afghan as EL-LAT in March 1996 and then to Pamir Air (YA-PAM) from July 1996. In October 1997 the plane was sold as 9G-OLD to Johnsons Air but the plane spent the following yoear seldom used and was sold again to Trans Aero as EX-120 and the plane is still stored in the UAE.

This is a offshore oil production platform. It was build bij Heerema in Zwijndrecht. Today it was hauled over water passing the Spijkenisserbrug and to the Mammoet quay. Here the end construction will take place, it will then be towed to the Northsea.

 

Two crawler cranes will take care of the lifting work.
