CBL 51 heads back to the shop after working the NS interchange briefly. I attempted to shoot them this day but interchange was the only activity they did, and they went home an hour after going on duty.
A yellow-headed blackbird seen at Pelican Lake in Uintah County Utah. I love these pretty blackbirds and this lake is always a good place to see many of them.

The sculpture “Head” at Eggum, Lofoten, by the Swiss artist Markus Raetz is a part of Artscape Nordland.
The Head changes its form many times as you walk around it; from certain points of view, the Head is right side up, from others it is upside down.
The Yellow-headed Warbler has an interesting rapid buzz-like call that almost reminds me of some of the tanagers that I have heard in South America. I thoroughly enjoyed trying to keep up with these little birds as they darted around in the tangled understory of the forest.

I had always believed that shooting with the lowest possible ISO was the best (going back to the days of film), but a video I watched last night suggested some experimentation with higher ISO settings for wildlife shots could yield results. So here we go - ISO 6800 and these mundane Black-headed Gulls become almost ethereal
No Blavand collection without the bunker mules. Created by British artist Bill Woodrow in 1995 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the end of WWII these sculptures are art the way I like. The former bunkers of the Atlantikwall were turned into mules who are unable to reproduce. Another aspect is that the mules look to the sea, where they pull all the evil of the world.

Beachy Head Lighthouse is located in the English Channel below the cliffs of Beachy Head in East Sussex. It is 33 m high and became operational in 1902. Beachy Head was built to replace the 1834 Belle Tout Lighthouse on top of the cliffs. For 80 years it was manned by a crew of 3 lighthouse keepers at any time - I hope they received a good pay, as it seems to have been a less-than-ideal job. In 2011 the operators said they could no longer afford painting the lighthouse white and red, but a funding campaign helped keep the distinctive colour of this historic landmark.
The orange-headed thrush (Geokichla citrina) is a bird in the thrush family. It is common in well-wooded areas of the Indian Subcontinent and Southeast Asia. Most populations are resident. The species shows a preference for shady damp areas, and like many Zoothera thrushes, can be quite secretive. The orange-headed thrush is omnivorous, eating a wide range of insects, earthworms and fruit. It nests in trees but does not form flocks.
Happy Caturday 24.7.2021 "Hand on cat"
There was excitement with Timmy last weekend. He hasn't eaten since Saturday evening, but always tried to choke something out. On Sunday evening he ate a can of wet food, but with a lot of choking in between. He was also limp.
Then I woke up at 4.30am on Monday and he wasn't there. Normally he comes home at 2 o'clock at the latest. I panicked and saw him lying somewhere suffocating and went crazy. Searched in the back, searched in the front - nothing. I couldn't call out loud at that time either. At 5:05 am he came traipsing in front of the house and was very happy to be greeted. Wretch!
At 8 o'clock I called our vet - she was on holiday. It took me almost an hour to find a vet who 1. answered the phone and 2. also wanted my money.
At 11 o'clock we had an appointment with the other vet, but had to wait almost an hour because of an emergency. Timmy didn't think about being looked down his throat, after all it's his private sphere :-)))) So he had to stay and was examined under anaesthesia. At 5pm I was allowed to pick him up. There was nothing (more?) in his throat, but it was red. So either grass had been in it and he choked it out on Sunday night or it was a cold. I think it's the same symptoms.
He ate a big bowl of dry food and a can of Vitaldrink late on Monday afternoon and then slept it off. When it was dark he went out as usual, you have to have your territory under control ;-)
Sunday and Monday were a mess anyway. But one is only happy that he is well again.

I managed to get a clear shot after a lengthy approach to this juvenile Coopers Hawk. Lots of branches in front of it so by the time I got a clear shot I was much closer than I wanted and had to take it vertically at 700mm, so this is the entire frame. The bird had been eating a small bird just prior, and you can see some of the feathers on the perch just to the right of the hawk. They are more likely to tolerate your presence if they are eating and if you don't make a direct approach.....He/she was still there when I left but was gone 5 minutes later....

This White Morph (Reddish Egret) had such a wonderful hair style that I had to feature it. Taken recently at Fort De Soto Park. (Egretta rufescens) (Sony a1ii, 200-600 lens @600mm, 1/4000 second, f/7.1, ISO 640)
A sweet little bird. Thank you for taking time from your busy day to view, fave and comment on my images. It is always appreciated.
