Wild South Africa
Kruger National Park
This photo was taken at the Letaba rest camp in the Kruger National Park. The camp is situated on a sweeping bend of the Letaba River, midway between the southern and northern boundaries of the Park.
In winter the gardens are a riot of color, with several species of Aloe and the Impala lily in full bloom.
The Aloes attract a variety of birds, including the Collard, White-bellied, Marico and Scarlet-chested Sunbirds, Crested Barbet, Black-headed Oriole, Black-eyed Bulbul and Red-winged Starlings.

Watching a group of greater flamingos could be really entertaining. I like it how their heads go up and down - especially when they stand close to each other it seems to be a kind of dance.

I found this during my morning walk at Kasavanahalli lake in Bangalore, India.
It was quite noticeable for the prominent red mark on the head but I found out that this is called Grey-headed ...
Another shot from earlier in the year, this is Trevose Head Lighthouse near Padstow in Cornwall. Cloudless days aren't always the best for photography but this was such a gorgeous day I think clouds may have ruined it.
CBL 51 heads back to the shop after working the NS interchange briefly. I attempted to shoot them this day but interchange was the only activity they did, and they went home an hour after going on duty.
I had always believed that shooting with the lowest possible ISO was the best (going back to the days of film), but a video I watched last night suggested some experimentation with higher ISO settings for wildlife shots could yield results. So here we go - ISO 6800 and these mundane Black-headed Gulls become almost ethereal
I acquired a Contax Sonnar 85mm lens recently and the first adapter to hand to attach it to my X-T1 happened to be a version with helicoid for variable close focusing. This has converted the lens into a telephoto macro with surprisingly good results.
A yellow-headed blackbird seen at Pelican Lake in Uintah County Utah. I love these pretty blackbirds and this lake is always a good place to see many of them.
The sculpture “Head” at Eggum, Lofoten, by the Swiss artist Markus Raetz is a part of Artscape Nordland.
The Head changes its form many times as you walk around it; from certain points of view, the Head is right side up, from others it is upside down.
The Yellow-headed Warbler has an interesting rapid buzz-like call that almost reminds me of some of the tanagers that I have heard in South America. I thoroughly enjoyed trying to keep up with these little birds as they darted around in the tangled understory of the forest.

Teretistris fernandinae
San Pedro River, Arizona
The San Pedro River provides crucial riparian habitat for species such as the western Yellow-billed Cuckoo, Gray Hawk, and this inquisitive Yellow-headed Blackbird. Unfortunately, the BLM may soon be legalizing hunting along the entirety of the river, as well as reintroducing cattle to 50% of it. This would inevitably lead to an ecological catastrophe.
