How does one get such a great face on photo of their baby at full term? Well, when the little bugger is reclining against mom's ribs instead of tucked away in the pelvis... And here I was thinking my baby had a REALLY big butt that got the hiccups a lot...

A really cool BNSF employee saw me taking photos and invited me over for closer shots. I really appreciated that invitation as I am very strict about not going on railroad property without permission.

Rachel and I went swimming today after Monica had left for class. She got really quiet on the way home, and when I turned around to see if she had fallen asleep, this is what I saw.

Had a surprise visit from a Red-headed Woodpecker last Wednesday evening, Sept. 8. I hadn’t seen one since I lived near Pillager in southern Cass County, so it was pretty fantastic to have one in the yard in south central St. Louis County. In talking to the hawk counters at Hawk Ridge I found out that they saw one at “the ridge” on Sept. 5, so while they are seen from time to time around here, they’re rare enough in this neck of the woods to be pretty exciting to find!

2011 Bates Summer Scholars work on making "sound" measurements. They start out in Carnegie 328 lab and then head outside in two groups of five. The group shown outdoors in on Garcelon Field.

This exercise is part of the course called Musical Acoustics, taught by Professor of Physics John Smedley. An introduction to the science of sound and the acoustics of musical instruments through the study of mechanical vibrations and waves. Concepts such as resonance, standing waves, and Fourier synthesis and analysis are developed and applied to theoretical and laboratory investigations of musical sound. Additional topics include hearing, psychoacoustics, and musical scales and harmony. No background in physics or mathematics beyond algebra is assumed. Laboratory work, problem solving, and simulations are integrated into class activities.

Today I got my head scanned in the ongoing effort to find out why I've lost my sense of smell. No answers, but the ENT doc was kind enough to burn me a CD of the scans. Too cool. Playing around here with layering some of the scans...

Kid delf head is bigger than mnf head, but i'm not worried about this, anyways I've decided that shiwoo will be a girl *w*

----------------------------------------------------

Come potete notare le teste hanno misure differenti, la testa kid delf è molto più grande, ma per fortuna in foto si nota di meno; anche per questo ho deciso che sarà una femmina.

Sta di fatto che con una parrucca questa differenza non si vede =D
