Captured at: Brooklyn Bridge Park -- Brooklyn , NY.
View of the Brooklyn Bridge from the waterfront park sharing the same name. This non-HDR shot provides a view of the bridge, and various buildings in Lower Manhattan -- including South Street Seaport.
In the foreground is Jane's Carousel, which was originally constructed in 1922 for an amusement park in Ohio. The carousel was recently restored by Jane Walentas, a Brooklyn artist who spent over 20 years overseeing its restoration.
"The Waterfront" was processed in Photoshop using Topaz Labs plug-ins (Adjust, B/W Effects, Denoise, Glow, Impression & LensFX), and was intended to be charcoal pencil sketch like in appearance.
Good old West Coast delivers some interesting stuff, got to say I'm addicted this coast for surf and pictures. Rare shot with me in it (best side), I had to fend off Colonel Sanders who wanted my chicken legs but did manage to escape :-)
This one was taken the same night as my last upload, even though the normal exposure single raw was OK I really wanted to bring out those reflections the way I saw it hence the HDR (shot at -2,0,+2 EV auto exposure bracket, on self timer with CPL fitted).
Another HDR shot for Cliche Saturday. Definitely a dividing issue, HDR, and I can see both sides ~ although I do like the extreme vividness it creates in the colours, even if rather unnatural. I prefer to adopt a more heavy handed approach to HDR, no point try to be subtle, it is what it is!!

I just processed this HDR shot from a trip to Australia. Sometimes, I take so many photos that I put off processing and developing forgetting beauties such as this. The Apostles are visible on this photo from the lookout point near the Great Ocean Road in southern Australia. The road is near Melbourne. The scenery is out of this world; definitely worth the drive if you are ever in Melbourne.
Taken at Chester Cathedral on the way home from the Lake District back in April time. I think merge 7 shots for this picture.
This is an HDR shot of the north-westernmost aspect of the monastery of Holy Trinity (Meteora, Greece) before sunset. The monastery was built in 1362 AD or earlier at a height of 1,755 feet (535 m), close to the top of the rock formation bearing the same name. One can use the 149 steps carved in the rock in 1925 to ascend to the monastery.
Holy Trinity is one of the many impressive and lofty rock formations whose group is collectively called Meteora: The sandstone megaliths' height varies 1,000–1,800 ft (300–550 m). The rock masses were formed 60 million years ago, are geologically unique and listed in UNESCO world heritage sites.

Canon EF100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM @ 400 mm
ISO 100 – f/9 – [ 1/250 sec & 1/100 sec ] HDR
Regent's Canal HDR shot taken outside Kings Place near King's Cross, London. Kings Place is a creative hub, a dining venue, a conference and events centre, and office complex designed by architects Dixon-Jones. More information here. Not being an architect, I don't know much about urban planning but there is some additional information in this document (pdf).

New Blog Post: Road Trip 2011: Day 1
Besides trying to take HDR shots I did capture some of my usual work with my favorite lens (50mm). This was taken on the street of Downtown Knoxville. I gotta say that Knoxville's Downtown is whole lot better then one here in Memphis. Even thought its about half the size but its more cleaner and much more pleasant atmosphere to walk around. There's a lot of interesting shop on the street of downtown plus the Market place have great restaurant for either lunch or dinner at a very decent price. So if you visiting Knoxville be sure to take a walk around downtown area.
Still doing catch up on everyone's stream as usual
It's almost friday! gosh this week is really flying by fast!

The Oratory at London's South Ken. It's difficult to get access to take photos - unless you know the right people. Not usually a big fan of church shots but this was an experiment in HDR. Shot this one in five frames. By Mark Higham.
The little river next to our home in the end of september. LT HDR shot with Blending of 4 shots with different focus/ shutter speed settings.

5XP HDR shot of Sakura trees in Tokyo, Japan.
This image (like Sakura Infinity) was taken in a tranquil cemetery in Roppongi, Tokyo.
Seen a bit of Infrared images lately and am interested in the technique so I tried out the IR filter from Nik on this HDR. This process will have to suffice until I decide to get the proper equipment to create a genuine IR :P I think the filter gave this image a kind of spooky feeling and emphasizes its location within a cemetery... Adding to the creepiness factor is 'ghosting' amongst the many leaves and flower petals... I kid, I kid...

HDR Shot from the Seattle Waterfront - Pier 66. Of course when I went to shoot this the roof area was closed due to security reasons when cruise ships are in port....so this is not the full angle shot I wanted but it turned out alright.

Non-HDR shot of the boys getting their skis on for their morning ski lesson. I had to teach them from 1-3y/o because ski schools/instructors wouldn't take them at that age.
This is Travus 6th season on skis and Austin's 3rd. Had them both on skis at 1 y/o, because I can't wait for them to ski/board with Chizuko and I in the backcountry bowls!
Chizuko and I proceed to hit the Annupuri back bowls for a couple hours after that :-)

3xp HDR shot on a golf course, killing time before a wedding I shot a couple of weeks ago. Be uploading some of those shortly. I dig the coulds and sun rays dropping on the pond.
7XP HDR shot from Hong Kong.
Thought that the sun-setting behind the faraway mountains was almost like an explosion of sorts lol Cropped this image into a near-perfect square to try things out... might decide to do more square crops going forward!

This was an interesting HDR shot. This is a total of 4 images. I started the first image at 1/50th of a second. I increased each shot by 3 stops, ending at 1/400th of a second for the 4th shot. What makes this shot interesting is that I did all this handheld, no tripod.
5XP HDR shot of Times Square in Manhattan, New York.
A nice lady with two small kids in tow tapped me on my shoulder as I was setting up and asked:
"Do you know if there is a McDonald's nearby?"
"Yes, just up ahead and to the left." I replied.
She said thanks and was about to go on her way when the small boy turned, saw the big glass bubble of the attached 14-24mm lens and exclaimed:
"Wow!! That's a camera!!"
lol :P

The horse races in Siena were in full preparation, and the inner square of this place was covered in clay and bordered with a rope. An Italian gentleman was making sure no one trespassed. Luckily he spotted my 50D and allowed me to take pictures from the middle of the square. I have visited this place last year but did not have the wideangle lens with me at the time, but now i had....;-)
This is a hand held HDR shot of three exposures.
Long exposure HDR shot of Strait waterfall (Cascada del Estrecho) in "Pradera de Ordesa".
This is a long exposure HDR shot taken in auto-braking (-1.4ev, -0.7ev., +0e, +0.7ev, +1.4ev), being the base shot 2 seconds long. The edition from RAW to the final version was done with Darktable. You can read additional technical information in my profile (about section).
To all my Flickr friends; I hope to be catching up and looking at all your wonderful photos soon :~)
After some refining. HDR shot of Tokyo from the Metro Building. I didn't want to have the "overboard" HDR effect, but more of a subtle enhancement; something that makes you pause and ponder.
***UPDATE 9/19/2007: I replaced the original shot with one that I think is much better, in between the original darker one and the lighter one, I think this is a lot clearer! I did some more fine-tuning and tweaking (especially with the color profile!)
This HDR shot was taken last year, July 2017. I never deleted it, because I thought there was something in this shot I liked. Tried several times processing it, never obtained the result I wanted. I tried again this week, and yes, that looks pretty good.
HDR shot that I processed in Photomatix and Photoshop. The shot was taken a few miles east of Headrick Oklahoma on August 9th 2008.

HDR Shot of the Chrysler Building taken from the Empire State Building. Sky is a bit odd with some peculiar hazing but the building just looks so good.
