5XP HDR shot of frantically busy Shibuya in Tokyo, Japan.

This was taken from my hotel room and was fortunate to have such an awesome view! The processing was a bit more difficult given the reflection and dust from outside the window but I'm happy with this result. I really enjoy living/visiting in fast-paced cities and my recent trip to Shibuya only reinforced this belief. The 'scramble crossing' which was featured in such movie classics as: Lost in Translation & Fast and The Furious - Tokyo Drift, is really a sight to behold - an estimated 3k ppl go through the section every minute!

Some Shibuya marquees shown include: A part of the scramble crossing in the lower-right, Shibuya 109 department store, Yoyogi Park, Q-Front building, and Center Gai.

View from Cala s'Alguer, Costa Brava.

This is a panorama made up of two HDR shots taken in autobraking (-1.4ev, -0.7ev., +0e, +0.7ev, +1.4ev), The panorama was made with Hugin, using a Biplane projection. Darktable was used for the edition. Unfortunately no tripode was used. You can read additional technical information in my profile (about section).

Regarding the non-HDR version, I believe water is much better, although the focus is worst due to I could not use a tripod and the alignment process was not perfect.

You can see the original version (non HDR) here:

This HDR shot shows the sunrise yesterday at the Northern Regnitz here at Hof. It's a really lovely little stream which meanders through the nature. It was not yet completely frozen, but there were massive ice plates, which broke from time to time with a wonderful cracking sound.

This is an HDR shot made from 3 exposures taken with an IR converted Canon EOS400D, merged and tonemapped in Photomatix. I changed the sky colour and tweaked the levels in Photoshop.

This is my first HDR shot! When I got here I actually had to wear sunglasses the sun was that bright! I deliberately waited till the sun set behind the hill and even with a 3 stop reverse grad filter I could not capture the dynamic range of the shot on my 6d. So I thought I'll take two pics and try to combine them in Affinity... An HDR I guess which I've never done before. So here it is my first HDR shot combining two shots where I set the camera to manual everything... focused then exposed for the sky and then exposed for the foreground. I have to say I've even surprised myself how well it came out and a technique ill defo use again!

I also think this is my fave view I've found in Midlothian looking across to the Pentlands. A view and shot I've looked for for a few years now location wise.

Here's an HDR shot of a planter I recently made with its new companion plant. (You can see the water beading because the planter is sealed).

In August I took a 10 day intensive course with Donald Tucker in the techniques of making cement look like wood, an almost lost art form known as faux bois or trabajo rustico.

We learned how to build metal armatures, make special cement mixes and apply them, and how to use stains--all to give the illusion of wood.

I enjoyed the work very much. It felt natural to me. I'm currently gathering the equipment and supplies so that I can continue working in this medium!

Time for something a little different. When I saw this I just had to pull over and shoot it! A late afternoon storm moves in from the left side of the shot toward the northwest. Five shots were merged from -2 to +2ev.

This is an HDR shot of late-autumn Meteora, Greece in order to celebrate this day 1st of December 2023. Four monasteries are in sight from left to right: St. Nicholas Anapafsás's, Roussanou's (aka Santa Barbara's), the Great Meteoron (aka Our Savior's Transfiguration) and Varlaam's (aka All Saints').

Of course, autumn is the season between summer and winter; it is defined as lasting from the September equinox to the winter solstice. The latter occurs on December 22 this year in Greece (at 05:29' hrs local time). So, one has got twenty one more days of autumn ahead prior to the arrival of winter. Let us enjoy the atmospheric colors and mists all around as long as they last!

This is an HDR shot of the north-westernmost aspect of the monastery of Holy Trinity (Meteora, Greece) before sunset. The monastery was built in 1362 AD or earlier at a height of 1,755 feet (535 m), close to the top of the rock formation bearing the same name. One can use the 149 steps carved in the rock in 1925 to ascend to the monastery.

Holy Trinity is one of the many impressive and lofty rock formations whose group is collectively called Meteora: The sandstone megaliths' height varies 1,000–1,800 ft (300–550 m). The rock masses were formed 60 million years ago, are geologically unique and listed in UNESCO world heritage sites.

an HDR shot of the much photographed Southwark tube station in London.

this is a slight snapseed rework of a shot recently published on Fotoblur: tube

addendum: just a quick note on the absence of people - this was taken in the middle of the day and there were loads of people around. I two two sets of three bracketed shots and HDR'ed them and then did a method of differences to remove the people. I used a similar method for my rush hour on the M1 shot but in that case I used far more shots. These shots were all hand held.

Captured at: Brooklyn Bridge Park -- Brooklyn , NY.

View of the Brooklyn Bridge from the waterfront park sharing the same name. This non-HDR shot provides a view of the bridge, and various buildings in Lower Manhattan -- including South Street Seaport.

In the foreground is Jane's Carousel, which was originally constructed in 1922 for an amusement park in Ohio. The carousel was recently restored by Jane Walentas, a Brooklyn artist who spent over 20 years overseeing its restoration.

"The Waterfront" was processed in Photoshop using Topaz Labs plug-ins (Adjust, B/W Effects, Denoise, Glow, Impression & LensFX), and was intended to be charcoal pencil sketch like in appearance.

I decided to do a HDR shot - I don't usually but a couple of the guys from my local photography club nailed it a while ago so I thought I'd see what all of the fuss was about. This is a five shot image layered in Photoshop Elements 14. The information for the bracket is: -2EV. -1EV. 0. +1EV and +2EV. I'm happy with the final image and I do think it slightly improved the single shot.

As for the exact location I cannot divulge. The location is a farm in Wrexham and the farmer very kindly let the group visit his private estate - a very kind man indeed. Bluebells as far as the eye can see - beautiful!

Taken in Scientific Center, Salmiya, Kuwait.

I took 3 consequent shots in different exposures, and then merged the 3 photos to create High Dynamic Range photo. This is my first HDR shot.

ISO 100, f/14 shutter speed 8 s.

Another HDR shot for Cliche Saturday. Definitely a dividing issue, HDR, and I can see both sides ~ although I do like the extreme vividness it creates in the colours, even if rather unnatural. I prefer to adopt a more heavy handed approach to HDR, no point try to be subtle, it is what it is!!
