A beautiful evening watching the sunset with the reflection of low tide.

Dawn reflections in a tide pool along the Pacific ocean shore.

I've had this image sitting in a folder for a while... I wasn't sure what I thought about it, and I'm still not quite certain. I like the swirling pattern of the waves but the slide didn't reproduce well during scanning... dang those slides for looking so beautiful against a lightbox, but for losing that luminosity on the screen.

Ah, well. I haven't posted any beach shots in a while, and this is one of the few I had to post. Unlike the number of waterfall shots I have to post. Or flower macros. Etc.

Taken with my Nikon FM.

In Cannon Beach, OR. This is from an older camera, taken some time ago, but I thought the photo still had some value. It's grainy and not super sharp, however, I still enjoy this photo.

Here’s one of Haystack Rock in Cannon Beach, Oregon. I took this while making my way down the beach during sunset. This was before I realized there were a million other people doing the same thing (they were more to the left). It was still pretty cool despite the crowds.

Photographed on the only clear/almost sunny evening during a visit to Cannon Beach, Oregon. IMG_8840

Cannon Beach, OR

This photo was taken on the last day of 2008. It was my only chance to visit this spot on the Oregon coast, and the weather did not cooperate – overcast skies, rain, mist... My fault for travelling to the Pacific Northwest in the winter.

Does anybody know the name of that thing in the foreground?

We are staying at one of my favourite places, Cannon Beach. We live near the ocean in Victoria, but there is just something about Cannon Beach that soothes my soul. We were treated to a very special sunset last night, so I feeling very grateful! Thank you so much for taking a look.

This is my favorite view of Cannon Beach and its iconic Haystack Rock. The trees do a nice job of framing the beach and rock, while obscuring most of the many condos that line the beach from hill to hill.

A shot from last August when it was nice and warm!

At Ecola State park in Cannon Beach, Oregon

This weekend I had the privilege of shooting this sunrise with some fabulous Flickr photogs. Andrew Kumler , little m, Rachel [Cherry Pixel] and Ryan Dyar This was pretty much the extent of our color the entire weekend but felt lucky to have any in the dead of winter. The Oregon Coast scenery never disappoints. For some enteratinment feel free to read little m's story on her Dyar Straights shot. Hope you are all well. Trying to catch up with everyones streams today. And as always, thanks for your visit :)

Pacific City to Newport. 50 miles with one grueling painful climb due to a missed turn. But a wonderful sunny day otherwise.

The view at Ecola State Park in Cannon Beach, Oregon, with the iconic Haystack Rock in the background. This spot offers such a sweeping view of the coastline, yet feels so peaceful. I never get tired of this view.

A very moody and foggy evening along the Oregon Coast tonight - it was about 100 degrees back in Portland, and I love how you always see a different perspective along the beach.

Iconic Haystack Rock at Cannon Beach looking a bit ominous against the evening marine layer. This rock is the defining feature along this portion of the Oregon Coast. The puffins seem to like it too as they were nesting in every nook and cranny.

I took the Twirly Camera out to the Oregon Coast recently, and stood on a grassy knoll near the famed Haystack Rock. I avoided a drone, and the mask-optional crowd to get this picture.

I developed it in a new Arista tank that I just bought. They didn’t put the amount of liquid to use, and I had the film in it already, so I estimated. Most tanks take about 500ml for medium format, right? Wrong. The bottom 1/4” was very light. It takes 600ml. I corrected that with the next roll. I lost a little of the bottom of this picture.

Measuring 235 feet (72 m) tall, Haystack Rock is composed of basalt and was formed by lava flows emanating from the Blue Mountains and Columbia basin about 15-16 million years ago.

The sea stack formation was closed temporarily during July 2023 after a cougar was documented, for the first time, climbing on the rock. A sea stack is a geological landform consisting of a steep and often vertical column or columns of rock in the sea near a coast, formed by wind and water, processes of coastal geomorphology.

Haystack Rock at Cannon Beach is one of the most recognizable features of the Oregon Coast. The rock is 235 feet tall and is home to numerous seabirds such as puffins, murres, gulls, cormorants, pelicans and guillemots and more.

I think these clouds are stratocumulus clouds.

This is the last haystack I've seen piled up like this. Nowadays they use machines to roll it or have it in cubes. LOL.

This image still has those ghost like people resulting of the shorter shutter speed, which I did not bother removing it during the post process. I got lazy.

I still have few images taken at different vantage point.
