Signage about the ornamental bronze oil lamp or 'dalu' which you saw in the previous picture. The sign is fairly self explanatory if viewed in full screen or expanded mode (the intervening chain notwithstanding), so I will save you the commentary. This is an exhibit in the Patan Museum located in the buildings of the former Royal palace in the Lalitpur/ Patan Durbar square near Kathmandu, Nepal. Detailed notes about the Lalitpur/ Patan Durbar square where I am now appeared earlier in this album (see previous pictures) and will also appear later as we go along in this album (Lalitpur/ Patan Durbar Square, Nepal, Oct/ Nov 2019)

Moroccan hanging lamp at Kenza Lebanese & Moroccan restaurant, in the City of London.
Brainstorming for household uses for my fibers brought me this idea, which I jumped on and ran with for all I’m worth: handspun-covered lampshades. Textural, light, versatile, sturdy, and full of visual interest, a basket-style lampshade crafted from handspun yarn can add great visual appeal to any setting. I took my photos outside, because I liked the backdrop of slowly turning leaves against the yarn, but I recommend using it indoors.
The yarn is woven onto a metal frame, so it is very sturdy, and the pendant lamp internals are built on an Ikea lamp base. The yarn shown was hand prepped & dyed, carded by me on my Fancy Kitty drum carder, spun in a thick/thin textured style, and woven on the frame in such a way that it appears solidly covered, but it will allow light to seep through the weave in alluring ways. Wool is flame-resistant, long-wearing, and holds vivid colors – perfect for a lamp covering! Lamp comes with hardware for hanging, as well.

natural hemp rope, wrapped around a cheap inflatable beach ball.
After treating the rope with fabric stiffener, I deflated the beach ball and pulled it out through the hole.

For the past 15 years or so my Mom has been making quilts...that's her thing, quilting and emailing!! She's self-taught, for the most part, and very, very good, but can't admit her talent...she tends to focus on the flaws, which she insists exist.
I've lost count of the number of quilts she has made so far, (be sure she had not!) but each fabric, thread and design is specially chosen for the intended recipient. Each unique masterpiece is hand and/or machine pieced and quilted and dons a discrete custom label noting all pertinent details.
This particular quilt was made for my daughter Brittany for her 15th birthday. Nothing could have suited her personality more than this..this quilt with its bright, fun array of colors, bold shapes and funky patterns. Naturally she was inspired to paint her room to match. The place looked like a crayola box exploded and she loved it very much!! I loved knowing that my children were being kept extra warm by the loving hands of their Gram.

Cool lines to this hanging lamp once covered in cheap red velvet is now transformed in a nubby neutral silk and finished with beaded ends and a genie-in-a-bottle light pull

Paper mache lamp Jupiter is made with paper pulp obtained from old newspapers. It is called Jupiter - like one of the planets of Solar System because it has a shape and the color similar to this planet.
Thanks to an ocher color the lamp gives a warm and pleasant light. The interior of the lamp, when the lamp is on - seems to radiate the light and the surface of the lamp seems to be golden.
