Had dessert tonight at this fabulous place called Bizu. The lighting there is gorgeous and everything is so pretty so much so that I feel like I can stay there the whole day to take photos.
Took a lot of them this evening but decided to share just these two for now.
For more from this set also see my photo for Day 64 of my Project 365.
Googie style and architecture is a type of futurist design influenced by car culture, jets, the Space Age, and the Atomic Age. It originated in Southern California with the Streamline Modern architecture of the 1930s, and was popular nationwide from roughly 1945 to the early 1970s
Burger King, Idaho Falls, Idaho. Is there a revival of Googie coming? I hope so!

Outside the window you can see the grade II listed, Colonnade which was built to mark the coronation of King George V in 1911.
Built in 1936. Architects Mendelsohn and Chermayeff. Large building in two sections with two-storeyed east wing and assembly hall to the west. Rendered walls with parapet to flat roof. East wing fully glazed on south side with cantilevered iron-railed balconies continued round the projecting bow at the junction of the assembly hall, which has largely plain elevations without windows. Rear has strip windows and continuous glazing to ground storey of hall. West end has two large staircase windows flanking higher centre. Large cantilevered bay window above central entrance on north side. Grade I listed.
Having shown a light fixture in the King's Hall a couple of days ago, I thought I'd follow up with one from the House of Representatives. I'd be interested to know which you prefer!
The House of Representatives is a large internal space in the Old Parliament Building in Canberra, with ceilings considerably higher than that of King's Hall. It is lined with timber panelling, representative of designer John Smith Murdoch's simplified classical style, with furnishings in a similar style. The timber used in the wall panelling, the desks, seats and tables is all Australian black bean wood and Tasmanian blackwood. The hand-woven carpets have a pattern of eucalyptus leaves and wattle blossom.
The House of Representatives is characterised by the colour green, representing the historic inheritance of the Representatives, as the lower house and the house in which governments are formed, from the House of Commons in the Palace of Westminster.
The Old Parliament Building was where Australia's Parliament sat from 1927 to 1988. It is now generally open as a museum for the public to visit.
Is this the essence of city life? Several people sharing a public space but having no connection with each other. Who are they? What are they doing? Where are they going? Were they ever aware that for this fleeting moment beneath an elegant arcade in the Palais Royale on 20th February 2012 they came together to create this picture for an un-known photographer?

I had to do a lot of fiddling around to get this one to where I liked it. The actual sign was much darker. Snapseed Photo Share’s various Tools allowed me to finally get it right. This IHOP has been completely renovated. I looks absolutely up to date: inside and outside. I’ve dined here from time to time since 1977.

This is one of the few stairs that I know that looks good at all angles. The hanging lamp was designed for the stair well.
Grade I listed. The new seafront building was the result of an architectural competition initiated by Herbrand Sackville, 9th Earl De La Warr, after whom the building was named.
Upside down view of a glass hanging light in my kitchen. Reminds me of a baitball of fish swimming around a common center.

No telling how many years this sat in my closet waiting to get the ladder and hang this. I decided it was easier to hang it in its original state and unbag it afterward. Worked fine, took some time to remove the tiny plastic bags covering each strand. I am looking for the perfect bulb now.
Generally I do not use a ceiling fixture, but prefer lamps. I have another exact capiz shell shade, intending to create hanging capiz shell lamps on either side of the bed....suspended from the ceiling. Hmmmmmm.......where to put the twin.....

During the past year or so, Marietta’s Famous Landmark has been given a complete renovation. The interior was revamped entirely and has become a nice place to sit down and eat. This is a view of the central dining room. The words “THE ORIGINAL CHEF” have socket holes, but lacks bulbs. Other than that it’s complete.
