Otavalo, has a population largely made up of the Otavalo indigenous group. They are famous for weaving textiles, usually made of wool, which are sold at the famous market. During the market's peak, almost one third of the town becomes full of stalls selling textiles, tagua nut jewelry, musical instruments, dream catchers, leather goods, fake shrunken heads, indigenous costumes, hand-painted platters and trays, purses, clothing, spices, raw foods and spools of wool.

Ol-knitting finished. Sweater to a grandchild.

Can anybody identify this quilt pattern?

…wonderful artwork made of recycled pipes and hardware by Jaffa Lam, as one of the major installations of the public media art exhibition called Human Vibrations… my favorable artwork addressing ad hoc issues in the city…

Artist Statement: Accidentally, I notice the pipes that serve us for many years on the rooftop. I feel so sorry for never taking care of them and letting them endure the sunlight and the rain. Those umbilical cord-like pipes connect different flats and deliver water for life to the households, but for most of the time, we have no connection with our neighbours. We don’t care what is happening next door. This work is mainly constructed by recycled pipes from the city to symbolise the connections between people, and viewers can listen to the resonances of different people in conversations. www.mediaarts.hk/?a=doc&id=20

… the installation is with excellent workmanship that all surfaces and weld joints are all professionally polished and absolutely safe for touching… pipes are colorless it just in my eye they are with brilliant colors when it is in connection with someone ...

I am usually not a huge fan of partial desaturation, but sometimes the rendering is cool !
