While I watch television in the evening, I do handwork and needlework and I knit. Here on this photo I decorate a sweater for upcoming Christmas holidays.

Otavalo, has a population largely made up of the Otavalo indigenous group. They are famous for weaving textiles, usually made of wool, which are sold at the famous market. During the market's peak, almost one third of the town becomes full of stalls selling textiles, tagua nut jewelry, musical instruments, dream catchers, leather goods, fake shrunken heads, indigenous costumes, hand-painted platters and trays, purses, clothing, spices, raw foods and spools of wool.

They ask thee concerning wine and gambling. Say: "In them is great sin, and some profit, for men; but the sin is greater than the profit." They ask thee how much they are to spend; Say: "What is beyond your needs." Thus doth Allah Make clear to you His Signs: In order that ye may consider- - Surah AlBaqarah : 19

O ye who believe! Intoxicants and gambling, (dedication of) stones, and (divination by) arrows, are an abomination,- of Satan's handwork: eschew such (abomination), that ye may prosper. - Surah Al Maidah : 90

... this one is a 2cm very cute babystar which must have been an incredible act of patience and skillful handwork to fold and fix it.

It made me aware of the wonder of friendship, so immeasurably precious and important especially in 2020, a year of uncertainty and worries about health, social distances and (for many people) also financial survival.

But - all the good things that happened to me (and there were lots) appeared like under a magnifying glass and left me looking at this past year with a deep thankfulness.

All the best for you, dear Flickr friends, in this New Year of 2021. May many of your wishes come true. 💙💙💙

HMM to all participants!

Taxco , Mexico

Taxco, city, northern Guerrero estado (state), south-central Mexico. It lies on the slopes of Atache Hill, at 5,758 feet (1,755 metres) above sea level, in the Taxco Mountains.

The place was a mining centre in pre-Columbian times. The Indian settlement (Tlacho), together with the settlement founded by the Spanish in 1528, became the city of Taxco and was one of the first early mining centres to be inhabited by Spaniards.

The city is still renowned for its silver, but copper, zinc, lead, and fluorite are also mined in the vicinity. Taxco is primarily known for its fine silver handwork and other crafts, being recognized as the outstanding centre for silverwork in the Western Hemisphere.

'Blue Magic'... An artist from Multan doing 'KashiKari' on a lamp made from camel skin. These unique vases and lamps are typical to a certain region in Pakistan and are artistically hand crafted from camel skin using an art form called "kashi kari" The production is limited due to the intricate nature of art and the scarcity of artists. The floral and geometrical patterns and the white glazes embellished with rich shades of turquoise and deep blues are the hallmark of Multani ceramics, and one continues to be impressed by the beauty of these creations. Not only can these be used as aesthetically appealing utilitarian items, but they can enhance the decor of any interior, and the ceramic tiles continue to be used for the embellishment of architecture.Kashi Kari is method of hand painting ceramic products, in particular tiles and pottery, also known as blue pottery. This is a craft that is esteemed universally for its superb beauty and intricate craftsmanship. A huge theme of the work is the use of blue and turquoise paint.

Kashi Kari is a centuries old craft. Some of the oldest pottery excavated from archeological sites has been dated to 900 AD. It is believed to have originated from Kashghar, China (thus the name) and influenced by Persian culture owing to the extensive use of blue color and certain motifs

Marzipan from Lübeck is famous, and the Marzipan Museum in the Niederegger House also presents large-format works made from marzipan. The picture shows Lübeck's old town with its seven towers, the salt warehouses from the 16th century and the Holsten Gate. Two confectioners from the Niederegger company created this view of the city in around 300 hours of handwork.
