So Winter has hardly started and it allready made me feel very grumpy. I long for summer, the sun, swimming, vacation!
Don’t worry, it will have passed in a few weeks and I will thoroughly enjoy the cozy, “gezellige” atmosphere of Sinterklaas (the Dutch origin of St. Claus) and Christmas.
Than again, this picture proves that I can be grumpy even in summer…but tell me, don’t you think I do grumpy very well?
Did you know that groundhogs are also called whistlepigs because of the noise they make? I found out the hard way yesterday!
I was out taking photos when I spotted a groundhog working on his burrow. He spotted me too and dove into his hole. I thought I would stand there and wait for him to poke his head out to get a shot. It was all quiet for about a minute, not a sound anywhere.... all of a sudden this high pitched and LOUD whistle came out of the burrow and scared me half to death! I guess I was standing a little too close for comfort. I believe he was saying, "Get off my lawn!" in groundhog. I took the hint and left him alone.
About 20 minutes later, I was 300 or 400 yard away from his hole when the groundhog popped up right near me! This time he didn't whistle at me and I got this photo. Doesn't he look grumpy??

The only way I can get my grand daughter to sit still long enough to have her photo taken is to go through a series of silly faces ! Sad, grumpy, silly etc and then I throw in Happy! It didn't work this time and the only one that came out any good was Grumpy !
It's funny how most kid's interpretation of grumpy is to stick their bottom lip out eh.
Anyway, here is my grumpy grand daughter Emily.

An old man that sales anything and everything, telling me I'm too greedy for taking so many pictures.
Young 'Renown' in his early twenties... this is what a few years in the bus industry can do for you... so be warned younger viewers ;-) The picture was taken in the early 1980s.
She's not really grumpy here, but she did get a little pouty because I wanted her to stop making goofy faces and posing for the camera. So, she stopped.... for a second.
In this ultrasound 3D image provided by Dr. Layyous, we have an interesting image of an apparently grumpy fetus. In fact, it appears that the developing baby is trying to shut out some sort of obnixous sound or unpleasant event, almost as if covering an ear with a fetal hand! No wonder at this, as babies in the womb have been known to respond to loud sounds, music, or even the voices of parents or soft soothing tones from mom. Of course, hopefully in those latter cases we would not have grumpy baby, or at least have one that was on the way to a soothed relaxed state. In any regard, you can see that in this image, the eyes, lips, skull, and jaws are imaged, ensuring that everything appears normal under development. Also there appears to be an umbilical cord going across the chest just under the chin of the fetus. This alone could contribute to the grumpiness of baby (especially if it happens enough), but alas, no fear, as the baby will quickly be able to adjust itself so that any discomfort (if present) is removed readily.

Grumpy is a robot build with Lego Power Functions. He can pick things up and drop them where they belong. To give him a little personality, he can shake his had and raise his eyebrows.
All functions are done with only four motors.
I was asked to make a cake representing a grumpy grandad and with something to do with Badgers as he has white stripe in his hair and his nickname is Badge. I modelled a badger from modelling paste, added slippers (inspired by Donna yet again!) with the Newcastle logo on the front, a race horse, a cup of tea, reading glasses and a rolled up newspaper!!
All I'm saying is, you said there would be oysters so I flew all this way and what do I get mussels, nothing but mussels... You tell him Alice!

I found this one while looking at some old pics I had. On the set of the bakery seen in front of Tschida Bakery on Rice St. In the movie they were here about 1 min. They filmed for about 6 hours for that. It was like a circus, changing the lighting, moving stuff around. Funnier than hell. Police also stopped traffic when they were filming for about 5 mins. every 1/2 hour or so. Movies to go Video closed not to long after filming, and the bakery closed last summer.
