Well, he has reason to be grumpy. This Red Tailed Hawk thought he had a vole in his grasp - not to be in this case.
Taken 5 years ago somewhere on The Fens. Might post more pictures from that trip. At the time I hardly had a chance to look at the images I took.
Leo is almost fout years old now but I think he still has a kitten face although he often looks slightly grumpy. :)
Not sure that she enjoyed posing for me but at least she stayed still. At Hartley's Crocodile Farm near Port Douglas
This is another one of the Boer goats at the park. I love the floppy ears of these goats and their faces which are full of personality. :)
I think it's safe to say that Fynn isn't in the real Christmas mood yet. This kind of grumpy face isn't really normal for him and he only shows it whenever I want to take a Christmas photo. Maybe he has spent too much time in the company of Cleo.

"Please can you give me some space. I'm on box rest for a while and am getting a bit grumpy and fed up. Thank you, Luna"
Our regular guest was not happy with me after I stopped him catching his second sparrow of the week. I know it`s nature but it`s still upsetting. Have a good week everyone!
This little green finch must have taken its grumpy pills this morning. After terrorising every other bird that came near the bird bath, it came over to the window and proceeded to glare at every single one of our thirteen glass birds on the inside of the window, then just for good measure it gave me a very stern "don't mess with me" look!
(Apologies for the dirty windows! I'm usually on top of that! : ))
This encounter with a male common pheasant took place in a park a week ago. He wasn't particularly excited to see me but I shouldn't complain as he stayed put and even allowed me to get close enough to take this photo with my 50mm lens although they are usually quite shy.
I went the other day to check if the resident Screech Owl was visible and he was as you can see. I think he is more sleepy then grumpy but he sure looks like he is not happy (lol). ;)
I hope everyone enjoys this image! :D

A previously unpublished shot from January 2020 and a split second juxtaposition that I could not refuse - her expression was why I captured the shot and, I hasten to add, not a result of it! Enjoy!
Last one from Richmond Park and a shot of this beautiful fellow who looked like he was in a proper grumpy mood, maybe he wasn't impressed at us ruining his Sunday morning peace lol!!
I hope you've enjoyed these shots, I'm not overly sure if I'll get there again any time soon but maybe I'll try to get up again later in the year.
We'll be seeing more of her grumpy faces in coming months, I'm sure. The house where she grew up (across the quiet side street from us) is going to be demolished, & a new one built in its place.
(In this case she was giving me a grumpy face because Camille was behind me.)
This old Gorilla had a grumpy attitude -- I guess the best smile we can get! San Diego Safari park.
Happy Smile on Saturday!
Although strong and powerful, mountain gorillas are generally gentle and very shy. Severe aggression is rare in stable groups, but when two mountain gorilla groups meet, sometimes the two silverbacks can engage in a fight to the death, using their canines to cause deep, gaping injuries. Conflicts are most often resolved by displays and other threat behaviors that are intended to intimidate without becoming physical.
A ritualized charge display is unique to gorillas. The entire sequence has nine steps: (1) progressively quickening hooting, (2) symbolic feeding, (3) rising bipedally, (4) throwing vegetation, (5) chest-beating with cupped hands, (6) one leg kick, (7) sideways running four-legged, (8) slapping and tearing vegetation, and (9) thumping the ground with palms. Jill Donisthorpe has stated that a male charged at her twice. In both cases, the gorilla turned away when she stood her ground.
