Grasshopper is a arthropod

A stack of 15 images.

The stubby-tailed and bull-necked Grasshopper Sparrow is easy to overlook throughout its range. When not singing its quiet, insectlike song from atop a stalk in a weedy pasture, it disappears into the grasses where it usually runs along the ground rather than flies. As sparrows go these birds are lightly marked, buffy tan with clean, unstreaked underparts contrasting with brown, gray, and orange above. The flat head, with an almost comically large bill for such a small bird, completes the distinctive look.

I took a break to get the mail and retrieve our garbage bins, when I noted this 'visitor' to our front windows. He posed for just the right amount of time before jumping into the bed of day lilies in front of these windows. My first Grasshopper photo for this summer!

"Grasshopper" weathervane, Royal Exchange, London, 30 Jan 2023

The Royal Exchange was founded by Thomas Gresham. The grasshopper was his heraldic symbol.

These sweethearts are so hard to photograph: they're hardly visible and if you do see them, they hop to another blade of grass. That's probably why we call them "grasshoppers". :-))

This is the small meadow grasshopper: 1.5 – 2 cm.

Grasshopper pump (also called pumpjack, oil horse, donkey pumper, nodding donkey, pumping unit, horsehead pump, rocking horse, beam pump, dinosaur)

These were scattered throughout Wyoming with their coal and oil industry and just could not let one go by. I also have a photo of one from my California trip which I will post Thursday - It has a most unusual location.

Suddenly I'm seeing these very young (or very small!) grasshoppers around the house - this one was sitting on a mistflower leaf...

this picture was taken from my son who is 8 years old :-)

""'''O,…….. are you tired and want to sleep?

and sing you the song of my people"""""

Found this little poem about a grasshopper on the internet. No name about the author.

Happy Sliders Sunday ;-))

Many thanks to those who comment on my photo's and/or add them as favourites.

The grasshopper spirit animal is a symbol of good luck and prosperity because whatever is blocking your way to success, your grasshopper totem can remove. It can help pinpoint whatever is preventing you to achieve your goals, and it can help you make that first step forward.

Like the grasshopper that can only jump forwards, so should you! Do not dwell in the mistakes and regrets of the past.

This is a very exciting time because the grasshopper spirit animal means abundance and good luck. This will inspire you to take more chances, and to invite more luck and positive outcomes in your life!

Does seeing a Grasshopper mean Love is coming?

The grasshopper meaning puts the spotlight on your ability to make anything successful. That includes the affairs of your heart, too.

You pride yourself in being successful in whatever venture you undertake. Therefore, when the opportunity for love presents itself, you do not go into it blindly and with reckless abandon.

As much as you want to have someone that you can call your own, you listen to your instincts, just like what the grasshopper meaning urges you to do. If something’s amiss, you will not hesitate to focus your energies elsewhere.

But when everything around you is prompting you to say yes and open your heart, you will gladly go for it! You will take to heart the grasshopper symbolism and follow what your heart and mind are telling you!

Yesterday must have been Grasshopper Sparrow day, I think I saw about 20 of them from the Brookshire, TX area down to Brazos Bend SP. it sure was a thrill to see these little beauties.

A lovely morning's bug hunting with insect mad friends, just like old times. The meadow was literally hopping with a variety of different grasshoppers ...

Grandi stormi di farfalle, mosche, tutti i tipi di insetti felici, sembrano essere in una febbre perfetta di gioia e letizia.

This morning this specimen was on a glass panel on the rear deck of my house in the Gold Coast hinterland. I am still trying to identify it correctly.

Later, still not sure but possibly a Creek Grasshopper( Bermius odontocerus) or Eastern Toothed Bermius.

Taken at Tucklesholme Nature Reserve, Staffordshire.

Thank you to everyone who views, faves or comments on my photos, it is always appreciated.

Many thanks to you ALL for the views, faves and comments you make on my shots it is very appreciated

Grasshoppers seem to prefer flowers as a resting spot. This one chose an aster plant at Wright-Locke Farm.

Another first for me, wonderful to see and hear it reeling away. E-M1 MKII/100-400mm.

The color rendering is quite accurate.

From a previous summer outing.

Grasshopper on an Ox-Eye Daisy at Landseer Park. Can anyone help with a more specific ID please?

One of many, from our backyard.

Blogged here.

The grasshoppers seem to be in huge numbers this year. At least it's one insect that isn't declining in numbers.
