Even the tiny grasshopper moves with a hope. Hope that
the next hop will make it land on a grass which is better
than the grass on which it is currently sitting.

I think this is a Common Green Grasshopper. I spotted this one land conveniently in the open on this stick which made it relatively easy to get a couple of shots.
An early morning visitor to the garden of the Villa nr Loule, Algarve. A very obliging Macro subject.
At Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary this fall, the number of grasshoppers is just staggering. Visiting migrants will have an ample food supply as they pass through. This guy was pretty well camouflaged on this speckled grass blade.
I found this grasshopper on a wild iris, while hiking the Narnia Trail in Michigan's upper peninsula. I wonder if it's an immature grasshopper, since it's wings looks very small.

We heard the recognisable 'song' of a male grasshopper as we walked through the garden and soon located this pair in the long grass. The male is below the female and neither moved when my wife moved the long grass to give a view for the photographer.
Not sure about identity but my best estimate is a female Eastern Toothed Bermius (Bermius odontocerus) by appearance. However, my home is a few hundred metres from the particular preferred creek habitat. Over to the expert field naturalists at this point ...
The oldest recorded Grasshopper Sparrow was at least 9 years, 1 month old when it was recaught and rereleased during banding operations in Maryland.
The stubby-tailed and bull-necked Grasshopper Sparrow is easy to overlook throughout its range. When not singing its quiet, insectlike song from atop a stalk in a weedy pasture, it disappears into the grasses where it usually runs along the ground rather than flies. As sparrows go these birds are lightly marked, buffy tan with clean, unstreaked underparts contrasting with brown, gray, and orange above. The flat head, with an almost comically large bill for such a small bird, completes the distinctive look.
Grünes Heupferd (Tettigonia viridissima), Weibchen mit dem typ. langen Legestachel ist eine der größten in Mitteleuropa vorkommenden Langfühlerschrecken.
I took a break to get the mail and retrieve our garbage bins, when I noted this 'visitor' to our front windows. He posed for just the right amount of time before jumping into the bed of day lilies in front of these windows. My first Grasshopper photo for this summer!
Grasshopper pump (also called pumpjack, oil horse, donkey pumper, nodding donkey, pumping unit, horsehead pump, rocking horse, beam pump, dinosaur)
These were scattered throughout Wyoming with their coal and oil industry and just could not let one go by. I also have a photo of one from my California trip which I will post Thursday - It has a most unusual location.
How it works:
Suddenly I'm seeing these very young (or very small!) grasshoppers around the house - this one was sitting on a mistflower leaf...

Found this little poem about a grasshopper on the internet. No name about the author.
Happy Sliders Sunday ;-))
