A secretive bird, it will fly a short distance when flushed, and then drop back into the grass out of sight. They usually stay out of sight unless they are singing, when they will perch on a weed stalk, shrub, or fence wire and belt out their buzzy song.
That is all true, except for here. You can always depend on finding one or two at this spot.
Grasshoppers are medium to large insects. Adult length is 1 to 7 cm, depending on the species. They have chewing mouthparts, two pairs of wings, one narrow and tough, the other wide and flexible, and long hind legs for jumping. They are different from these groups in having short antennae that don't reach very far back on their bodies.
Chorthippus parallelus, the meadow grasshopper, is a common species of grasshopper found in non-arid grasslands throughout the well vegetated areas of Europe and some adjoining areas of Asia.

Grasshopper
A grasshopper visiting our garden and landing om blue flowers.
I think (please correct me if it's wrong) it's a in latin Tettigonia cantans or in dutch kleine Groene sabelsprinkhaan and in english a Small Green Bush-Cricket
This little one there was less than 1/4 inch (about 6mm). It blended in and was so small barely saw it there on the leaf. Looks like a baby grasshopper to me.
The grasshopper is enjoying the sun, while the ant is working hard. Carrying a fellow ant back home?…..or is this food for the little ones at home?

These will not sit still and if you approach them they will keep moving away. One works up much persperation when photographing these in summer. I wanted to include what they look like when born for to see the comparison of changes in their body patterns amazing to me.As you can see this one's wings are still not fully developed so it can't fly but when I tapped it with my finger it spread what it had of them
