""'''O,…….. are you tired and want to sleep?

Let me hide in your room

and sing you the song of my people"""""

Found this little poem about a grasshopper on the internet. No name about the author.

Happy Sliders Sunday ;-))

A grasshopper from Griffith NSW. According to iNaturalist, it’s a slender Gum Leaf Grasshopper, Goniaea vocans. I was out early in the morning and as I was walking through the grass, this guy sprung into view. The sky gave a nice contrast against its orangey-tan tones. ———————————————Single outdoor handheld shot, with an Olympus em5 mkii, 60mm M.Zuiko lens. Godox V350o Flash. F11, iso 200, shutter 1/100. Chorthippus parallelus

A lovely morning's bug hunting with insect mad friends, just like old times. The meadow was literally hopping with a variety of different grasshoppers ...

The stubby-tailed and bull-necked Grasshopper Sparrow is easy to overlook throughout its range. When not singing its quiet, insectlike song from atop a stalk in a weedy pasture, it disappears into the grasses where it usually runs along the ground rather than flies. As sparrows go these birds are lightly marked, buffy tan with clean, unstreaked underparts contrasting with brown, gray, and orange above. The flat head, with an almost comically large bill for such a small bird, completes the distinctive look.

Grandi stormi di farfalle, mosche, tutti i tipi di insetti felici, sembrano essere in una febbre perfetta di gioia e letizia.

I didn't realize until just now that there's another invertebrate subject in this image...some hairy legs gave it away...

Grasshopper on an Ox-Eye Daisy at Landseer Park. Can anyone help with a more specific ID please?

This morning this specimen was on a glass panel on the rear deck of my house in the Gold Coast hinterland. I am still trying to identify it correctly.

Later, still not sure but possibly a Creek Grasshopper( Bermius odontocerus) or Eastern Toothed Bermius.

Type?

Locust, um, antennae seem too long, anyone?

After searching about, it seems that is it not a grasshopper. Ophiuchus suggested the info, thanks.

Another first for me, wonderful to see and hear it reeling away. E-M1 MKII/100-400mm.

Please click on pic for a larger and nicer view :-)

Grasshopper cannot stop her roaming,

And her home and friends

Don't mean anything no more.

Showstopper, you cannot top her.

With a cowboy grace,

Can't stay in one place

Too long (too long).

Topper, she told such a whopper,

But everyone knows

When winter comes

Grasshoppers go.

Blogged here.

A "short-horned" one, maybe a youngster, posing for me in a Turk's cap bush...

A grasshopper on a blade of grass.

The grasshoppers seem to be in huge numbers this year. At least it's one insect that isn't declining in numbers.

A female gray bird grasshopper (Schistocerca sp., I think S. nitens) in my garden.

Stopped hopping just long enough.......

This 2-striped grasshopper has purple-brown eyes but I took the shot when the sun hit the insect and the eyes glowed red. The bug has two yellow stripes running down its back, so it's called 2-striped. It's a pest all over North America. In Explore, March 25, 2020, photo 245.
