The inside of Assumption Chapel in Cold Spring, Minnesota also known as the Grasshopper Chapel. The chapel was built in less than a month in 1877 and credited for relieving a years long grasshopper infestation in Minnesota.
On a warm day they are not the easiest, because they jump fast. But I got lucky and shot this one and within a fraction of a second it was gone. So this is a grasshopper in full jumpmode.

This is the first time I have seen one of these sparrows in Bombay Hook NWR and also the first time that I have managed to photograph one of these sparrows

Melanoplus sp. maybe. The flower (prairie fleabane) is about half an inch/10 mm across - I didn't realize this was a grasshopper until I saw it on the screen. Spotted at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center...
A female green grasshopper takes a break on a nettle in the sunshine. Grasshoppers come in different colors. Green is the most common, but brown is also possible. The insects, which are pretty to look at, can also be dangerous. They live in masses and eat everything that is green and blooming.
This little grasshopper walked in the office while the door was open, jumped on the table as if to say: "I want to be photographed."

Backyard macro of a juvenile grasshopper: likely a first or second instar, as wingbuds are almost invisible. This insect was incredibly tiny! Not the prettiest kid on the block, I have to say... Possibly a lesser migratory grasshopper (Melanoplus sanguinipes), but don't quote me on that!
