Curious grasshopper with personality plus, showing off his long legs. I think this is a Meadow Grasshopper, they have the very long legs.
Brad and Brody, this one is for you! Now this particular Very rare species of grasshopper was part of the Big Bugs Outdoors collection of bugs. The sculptures are created by artist David Rogers using various combinations of found or fallen trees, cut green saplings selectively harvested from the willow family, dry branches, and other forest material. I think this grasshopper was at least 10 feet long so it was a very large one for sure! This collection of bugs is on display at the Glen Burnie Gardens which are part of the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley. I say it's for you Brad and Brody because you both posted very fine photos of grasshoppers on the exact same day. (15 days ago according to Flickr) I thought that was pretty cool. :) So this was My Grasshopper photo! LOL Have a great day everyone!
Doing a little archive diving and found this fellow from back in October. Anita and I are off Adventuring today so I should have a few newer photos to share. I never know though, Somedays are full of photo ops, some not so much! One thing I know, it will be a long day and fun! :)
Once football season begins, the weekends are challenging. Saturdays are college football from mid-morning until past my curfew. Then, Sundays...two games during the afternoon and then an evening game.
Not much time for photography, Flickr, or other computer activities. I pretty much just settle in, much like this grasshopper, get comfy, and hardly move.
On a warm day they are not the easiest, because they jump fast. But I got lucky and shot this one and within a fraction of a second it was gone. So this is a grasshopper in full jumpmode.

This is the first time I have seen one of these sparrows in Bombay Hook NWR and also the first time that I have managed to photograph one of these sparrows
