Eleven has not repeated his long trip North but seems to have a liking for the marshy area just along from Dubwath Silver Meadows Reserve on the A66 to Cockermouth. The traffic obviously doesn’t bother him. He has no qualms about flying straight over the Lake or even out into the middle of it and back. Both birds are spending a lot of their time though in full view of the Lower Viewpoint. Here is a quote from one happy man from Hull.
‘Just a quick message of thanks for helping me achieve one of my lifetime ambitions of seeing a wild osprey. On Wednesday 18th August I observed the 3 remaining ospreys from Dodd Wood observation point including the male bringing in a fish for the 2 chicks, the highlight of my holiday in the Lakes. Keep up the good work.’

The Giving Map is a web-based map (created with the google maps API) that identifies locations in the Capital District of New York where individuals can make donations of food, cash, clothing or their time during the holiday season. Donation locations have been placed on a base map of the Capital District, where users can click on gift icons and get a charity’s name, address, phone number and what sort of items are accepted at that location. Up until recently I thought the GPS functionality on my phone was broken, but the new version of Google Maps has a clever assisted GPS that uses mobile mast ids and its quite amusing to watch the 'My Location' marker move from North Uist, Lochcarron(?), then to Marybank. It hovers on Marybank for a minute or so until it gets enough strong satellites signals to get a lock at which point it moves with suprising accuracy ( within a couple of metres ) to the right location.
You have to place it in a window or be outside, once it has a lock I think it uses the accelerometer to measure movement, so the point follows a few metres behind you fairly accurately.
The difference between Google Maps Mobile and Nokia's own maps applications is quite stark. Nokia map's application has very little text notification on the screen to say what the apps doing, doesn't seem to use assisted GPS, used half a meg of bandwidth before it shifted of London and the map images don't seem so good. I thought Nokia Maps would have be better, now they have bought Navteq maybe it will get better.
I don't think the GPS at this stage is much more than a toy, but I have found Google Maps Mobile without the My Location functionality to be useful a number of time. Although its fairly bandwidth heavy and really needs a data package ( Vodafone do a nice £7 for 120MB deal ) or wifi to avoid over the top data charges.

As ruas de Taiwan agora também estão no Google. Dando uma rápida olhada percebi que muitas ruas estão repletas de motocicletas estacionadas. Nessa rua basicamente o que se vê é motocicleta estacionada.
Seria essa uma possibilidade para a cidade de São Paulo? Transformar a zona azul da região central em estacionamento de motocicleta?
