I rarely do architecture and when I did, i ruefully failed...So it's time to make an new attempt and to start a new series on this - in my eyes - very difficult subject of photography.

This first pic is a rear/side view of the Paul Klee Zentrum in Bern, Switzerland, which consists of three undulations blending seamlessly into the landscape. And it's the first pic I took with my new 5D Mark II.

The Zentrum Paul Klee is a museum dedicated to the artist Paul Klee, located in Bern, Switzerland and designed by the Italian architect Renzo Piano. It features about 40 percent of Paul Klee’s entire pictorial oeuvre.

Livia Klee-Meyer, Paul Klee's daughter-in-law, donated her inheritance of almost 690 works to the city and canton of Bern in summer 1997. Additional works and documents donated and loaned by the family and the Paul-Klee-Foundation and a further 200 loans from private collections contributed to creating a very large collection of works by the artist. The decision to build the museum in the Schöngrün site on the eastern outskirts of the city was made in 1998, and renowned Italian architect Renzo Piano was contracted the same year. A preliminary project was elaborated in 2000. The building was completed in 2005. It takes the form of three undulations blending into the landscape.

Paul Klee (18 December 1879 – 29 June 1940) was born in Münchenbuchsee, Switzerland, and is considered both a German and a Swiss painter. His highly individual style was influenced by movements in art that included expressionism, cubism, and surrealism. He was, as well, a student of orientalism. Klee was a natural draftsman who experimented with and eventually mastered colour theory, and wrote extensively about it; his lectures Writings on Form and Design Theory (Schriften zur Form und Gestaltungslehre), published in English as the Paul Klee Notebooks, are considered so important for modern art that they are compared to the importance that Leonardo da Vinci's A Treatise on Painting had for Renaissance. He and his colleague, the Russian painter Wassily Kandinsky, both taught at the German Bauhaus school of art, design and architecture. His works reflect his dry humour and his sometimes childlike perspective, his personal moods and beliefs, and his musicality.

How did we manage as photographers before the advent of Google Maps?

Having been to Hauxley a few times and been impressed by some of the rock features, I wanted to see if there were any bits further down towards Druridge Bay. A quick check on Google Maps showed some interesting looking rock ledges oriented towards the sun, and I was even able to determine that they should be out at high tide.

In the end I was probably an hour away from "perfect" tide timing when I reached the rocks (having probably woken up a family camping nearby - sorry if you are reading this!) but the sunrise put on a decent show so I was happy.

Groundbreaking for Miami-Dade College's Wolfson Building 1 occurred in 1971, and the building was completed in 1973. The campus itself first opened in 1970, with classes initially held in downtown storefronts while its permanent facility was being constructed.

Hilario Candela was the architect of Miami-Dade College's Wolfson Building 1. As a Cuban-born American architect, he designed key Brutalist-style buildings for several of the college's campuses, including Wolfson.

Candela was a key member of the architectural firm Pancoast, Ferendino, Grafton & Skeels, which designed the initial buildings for the North and Kendall campuses in the 1960s.

His signature "tropical Brutalist" style, with its use of raw concrete, is a defining feature of the Wolfson Campus architecture.

In addition to his work for Miami-Dade College, Candela is also known for designing the iconic Miami Marine Stadium.

Miami-Dade College's Wolfson Building 1 was designed in the Brutalist style, specifically a regional variant referred to as "tropical Brutalism".

Elements of this architectural style as seen in the Wolfson Campus include:

Raw concrete: The buildings prominently feature exposed concrete, emphasizing the material's raw, unadorned nature.

Massive, geometric forms: Brutalist buildings are known for their blocky and monolithic appearance. Architect Hilario Candela, who designed the Wolfson Campus, referred to his vision as "a small city of interconnected geometric masses".

Function over form: In keeping with Brutalist ethos, the building's design emphasizes its function as a modern educational institution.

Adaptation to the Miami climate: In this "tropical Brutalist" interpretation, the buildings use covered walkways and strategically placed open spaces to provide constant shade and cover from the rain.

This is a Google bike. Google is such a massive place that they need bike's to get around. There are a number of sites that Google have. It would not be possible to walk to them. Google bike's are in

Google color's, of course.

The fun part is when you are at the lake (Shoreline), or some place else and see a Google bike, and someone off having fun, instead of working.

Building's on Barrow St., Grand Canal Dock, Dublin. The taller building on the right is Google's European Headquarters. They also have offices to the rear of the buildings in the shot, employing about 3,000 people in total. I had the occasion to visit this building recently, but unfortunately didn't have my camera at the time, as it affords great views out over the city.

I appreciate what Google Assistant has done to my photo. It presented me a saturated photo with more clarity on the top. However, I still prefer my original more natural looking photo.

All aboard, top of the line! We followed the early Union Pacific Railroad from Cheyenne west, up the mountains toward Laramie and arrived at the round house and station atop Shermen Hill before the descent. The UP encountered plenty of obstacles over the top. The new whistle stop looked pretty rustic in 1869s. There were several wood buildings and I theorize they stocked a lot of materials atop Sherman for the push down to Utah. Little remains at Sherman after UP drove the twin tunnels and relocated the up and down lines over the summit. Steam engines required continual repair and maintenance in round houses.

The Ames pyramidal monument is 800 feet south of the turntable pivot block in this view. Search Ames Monument to zero in on the location. The grey tracing, Iron House RD., designates the original grade. I don't know if the fondation to the left was the depot.
