So here I was, out in rural Western NJ searching out an abandoned rail line, on a very local road when a Google Street View car comes driving by! What are the chances of that?
I was just climbing out of a slight depression that the tracks ran in, and when I reached the road I see this coming. I threw up my hands in surprise and waved and he stopped for this picture, then he pulled over to the side of the road and we had a nice chat for a few minutes. Very interesting to finally see one of these for real. It's quite a setup. The rig on the top of the car has 16 cameras in a 360 degree view, plus GPS antenna, and other sensors. Two heavy cables go through the rear passenger window to a computer and other boxes mounted on the passenger floor. There is a 19" monitor in the passenger seat running a form of Google Maps.
This location has been Street Viewed before and he told me the drive through was an update, and that I had been photographed and recorded. He did not know how long it would take for the new data to go live, or if I would be fuzzed out.
Here is the previous Street View of this exact location. I was coming out of the woods on the other side of the road when he was approaching. Good timing!

By the way, this is board is a joke created by Google employees but, as you can see, some things come true. Anyone can pick up a dry erase marker and make changes.

When you first take Google Glass out of its premium packaging it looks a little top heavy. All the parts, including the small prism display and battery, fit on the right-hand side of the frame, luckily though the battery sits behind the ear to balance things out.
Dr Vinton Cerf, Vice President & Chief Internet Evangelist, Google, speaks during World Congresson Information Technology WCIT at Kuala Lumpur May 21 2008.
When he talk, everybody listen, the plenary hall was pack with people, I really enjoy listen to him as much as photographing him, talking about the future of the internet. I was so lucky to watch him in person, not to mention photographing him..
More about him, just Google it... :-)
I don't use flash for this shot, available light only...
Meet Google. He's new in the woods. His owners found him ... with Google, yes. And after that they were out of bright ideas.
I have the feeling this will be a 'Boy named Sue" kinda story from here on. He'll be fine.

I got this mixer thanks to another flickr diorama, sorry I can't remember whose diorama it was. But they said it was a Hallmark Christmas ornament and thanks to google I found one and painted it to match my kitchen. I also painted the hardware on the sink, which is a paper clip holder I found somewhere.

Google has two offices in London. This one is located at Pancras Square and is the new UK headquarters. It is nicknamed the "landscraper" due to its horizontal skyscraper design . The building is located in the King's Cross area and is as long as the Shard is tall . It is 72 meters tall at its highest point and stretches to 330 meters . The building is expected to be finally completed in 2024.
I love google hybrid maps. I have a new area from which to shoot the gwb, albeit from dawn 'til dusk. I'll eventually post another shot from directly under the bridge. On the way out of henry hudson drive, I wanted to take a long exposure from directly under the bridge with the hudson flowing. Unfortunately, I had forgotten I had taken the nd400 filter off, so I have a really nice, totally white image right now. As I was screwing on the filter, on the camera, on the tripod I heard the harsh sound of a park police cruiser horn blare...he was young and nice about it, but he said the port authority police would basically be *pissed* if they caught me with a tripod & camera directly beneath the bridge. I had to agree.

A woman left lonely will soon grow tired of waiting,
She'll do crazy things, yeah, on lonely occasions.
A simple conversation for the new men now and again
Makes a touchy situation when a good face come into your head.
And when she gets lonely, she's thinking 'bout her man,
She knows he's taking her for granted, yeah yeah,
Honey, she doesn't understand, no no no no!
