why hasn't google updated their logo on their offices in nyc?

Before our hastily-arranged two days trip to New York last winter, I asked a friend about the traffic and where to park. He opened Google Maps and pin-pointed all the cheeky little spaces where you park for free (and be assured that your car won't be disappeared when you come back); and then suddenly stopped and said, "Forget the car. You must take the subway to experience the real NYC."
So I did. On the next two cold, rain-drenched days, we left our car on Staten Island and took the ferry and then the subway to explore the city. And as my friend said, it was as if you were experiencing a miniature version of NYC itself inside the rusted, dirty, crowded labyrinth of the subway system. It was a melting pot that didn't melt. A large collection of people of all colors, age and race, coming from all the corners of the world, using all the languages other than may be English.
So if you ever get a chance to visit the exhilarating metropolis, do yourself a favor and take the subway. Take a seat, take off the headphones, look around, and you'll see polished fashionistas riding to work, eleven years old Senegalese immigrant selling gummy bears, six-feet tall homeless man reminding everyone of good karma and asking for help, and someone with a acoustic guitar jumping into the car and start singing Strawberry Fields Forever. You can spot people feeling nonchalant, cordial, somber, delighted, depressed, amused, curious, exhausted, swag, numb, reminiscing, exploring, irritated, forever-alone, suspicious, festive, melodious, and global, like a true New Yorker.
The Elbow River in Calgary was crossed by 3 very quaint pedestrian bridges, but they were all destroyed in the 2013 floods. The City has now opened the the first of the replacements, located in Sandy Beach park. The sky was not great, and I'll be revisiting the area in better conditions.
February 4: On Monday, Google Earth was upgraded to include significant detail in the oceans, and lots of thematic information as well. I've been asked to write an article on the sharks of the Pacific, and today the editor contacted me to say I can actually track a tagged great white shark using the new Google Earth. Not having anything better to do (ha ha), I decided to check it out. When you click on 4009, it takes you to a window with a video--that didn't play--but also a "track" showing where this animal has been. It's a cool new feature. What would we do without our computers? (Well, besides get a lot more work done. With quill and ink, of course.)

3 of 2015's Most Googled Celebrity Haircuts
One of the many nuggets of wisdom the folks at Google were able to drop on the Internet this week with the release of their 2015 Beauty Trends Report was that men are now using the Internet more than women to search for hairstyle advice. But...
I got tagged!
Oh & I haven't mentioned this cause I keep forgetting so I'll mention it now.
You guys have to listen to Crystal Castles new album! It's pure gold! If you guys haven't heard of them, you guys should google them or something. It's one of those bands that you don't even have to know the lyrics to enjoy, aha.
This one of my fave song from the new album:
-------------------
1. On the first day of first grade I was so frightened by the new enviroment that I snuck out of class and ran out of the school. The assistant principle & some teachers were chasing me until I reached this big street that I was scared to cross.
2. I gargle soda before I swallow it. Mainly with Coca-Cola & Pepsi. It just tastes so much better when I gargle and rinse it first.
3.My mom jokes around that it was my fault she stopped going to church when I was around five because when she would take me, I would run up to the front of the church & sit on the steps by the priest and when everyone was quiet I would start singing the Nightmare on Elm Street song.
4. I completely shaved my right eyebrow off last december out of curiousity . I wore animal band aids and drew a fake eyebrow with black sharpie for about a month.
5. I'm a huge little monster. I love that woman so much. Even though I went to the monsterball all alone, that didn't stop me from having one of the best nights of my life.
6. I've been bitched out by a group of angry drag queens.
7. I need a tripod. The lack of one can get deadly.
8. I don't have a best friend.
9. My favorite name is Bruno. I might legally change my name to that.
10. I'm Horde.
I tagged some random people. Let me know if you want to be untagged.

The Google Engineering Philosophy
1. All developers work out of a ~single source depot; shared infrastructure!
2. A developer can fix bugs anywhere in the source tree.
3. Building a product takes 3 commands ("get, config, make")
4. Uniform coding style guidelines across company
5. Code reviews mandatory for all checkins
6. Pervasive unit testing, written by developers
7. Unit tests run continuously, email sent on failure
8. Powerful tools, shared company-wide
9. Rapid project cycles; developers change projects often; 20% time
10. Peer-driven review process; flat management structure
11. Transparency into projects, code, process, ideas, etc.
12. Dozens of offices around world => hire best people regardless of location
