The matte painting (which can be translated with painting backgrounds) is a technique used mainly in film used to allow the representation of landscapes or places otherwise too costly or impossible to reconstruct or reach directly.

The Royal Air Force has phased out the last Tucano trainers after 30 years of service.

This Tucano is now preserved at the gate of Linton-on- Ouse.

I traded that little Yashica A for a bunch of Polaroid 600 film, but luckily before it said goodbye Ben was able to put a few rolls through it.

It's with a heavy heart that I'm sharing the loss of our little Kipper. He was still in the swamp at dusk yesterday, and I went to check on him first thing this morning, and our little guy didn't make it. I'll always wonder why he didn't learn to fish, and why he went out of his way to stay away from the other storks.

This experience only reinforces what I already knew, that I could never work as a wildllfe rehabber, as I get way too attached. Thank you to all of you who do that work every day, and have to say goodbye too often.

It's a hard part, but she's going to a good home! Real life can be though and than you have to make decisions....

The Tree Swallows are back… and there were worms on the rain-soaked street!

Shani means marvelous or wonderful, and today we had to say goodbye to our wonderful girl. She lived for fourteen years, but the time with her went by too fast. She gave us so much love and laughter. The house is really quiet now and I miss her a lot, but I know she's in peace now, being spoiled and having fun in heaven, and one day we'll meet again and go for walks. Thank you Shani, for being the best doggie, the best girl, the best friend in the world.

Happy New Year to all my Flickr friends!

I followed this individual for a couple of weeks. I named her "Andrea" after the resident of a nearby house.

Goodbye to beautiful Eidfjord.

I am very busy with my Super~Six groups so only a few invites please. I will try my best to respond to you all. Thank you.

Well, here is my last ever in service photo of Stagecoach Midlands Volvo Olympian R694DNH 16694 which can be sat in Grange Park having arrived from the town centre, and preparing to head back, 12th July. This and the other 3 are due to be withdrawn next Friday once the schools break up.

I go to Spain tomorrow for a week, not getting back until early Thursday morning next week, so this is my last ever photo of her in service. Goodbye old girl, you served us well!

Saying goodbye to Summer in the High Country - Loveland Pass, Colorado

Goodbye to Evelyn , www.flickr.com/photos/herringpond taken from us far too soon . But I thank you for your friendship over these past few years .You taught me more than I ever taught you .

A damp rose in my garden.

Here in the UK, August 2008 has officially been the least sunny since records began. Two "awful Augusts" in a row has blighted butterfly populations and hampered harvest, not to mention sun worshippers. Give me vitamin D now! Watch the price of bread rise!

Can it get any worse? Forecasters say "yes" Global warming? Hard to believe when August temperatures only broke the 70°F once during the entire month. Hardly beach weather!

We move into the Autumn term or have we been in it all along? They also say UK will only have 3 seasons this year.

So good-bye August. It's still raining right now!

Goodbye Arwen

August 19, 2002- February 7, 2017

Goodbyes are hard, especially when you’ve give and received unconditional love for 14 years.

2010 yılının hepinize mutluluklar getirmesini; tüm sevdiklerinizle mutlu ve sağlıklı bir yıl geçirmenizi dilerim.

I wish a happy and healthy 2010 for all of my Flickr friends.

EXPLORE on Dec. 28, 2009

I've had this photo and one other sitting around for years but hadn't posted them. Since we said goodbye to this truly good man this past weekend I think it's only time I share these. If you haven't read the personal little eulogy I wrote you can find it here: www.facebook.com/share/p/1BeLpL9K8B/

But for now here's a look back to a happier time over a half dozen years ago and a fun and relaxing day riding the obscure rails of the smallest state in the union. Thanks to an invite from my old friend Father Mike Leckie this was a day spent on a private invitation only charter on the Old Colony & Newport Railroad that shares the state owned line up the west side of Aquidneck Island with the for profit Newport and Narragansett Bay Railroad dinner train. There are only about 14 miles of railroad on the island, but they offer some beautiful coastal sights befitting their moniker of 'the line with the million dollar views.'

We traveled north to a beach overlooking Mt. Hope Bay to observe the implosion of the massive concrete Brayton Point generating station cooling towers then after that 10 seconds of excitement was over we toured the line south as far as the north gate of Naval Station Newport by Coddington Cove in Middletown, RI. Two locomotives were in operation, a privately owned 50-ton side rod Porter (ex US Navy blt. Mar. 1942) JPEX7349 (seen here) and society owned 45-ton side rod GE #4764. And the coaches were a pair of amazing ancient wooden clerestory roofed beauties. Coach #74 was built for the B&M in 1904 in Laconia, NH and Parlor car #73 which is believed to have been built in 1884 for the Intercolonial Railway of Canada, a CN predecessor road operating in Quebec and the Maritimes.

Anyway here's a joyful portrait of Mike from that day strolling thru the coach chatting it up with one of his friends. He's proudly wearing his Old Colony hat and jacket, but what I notice is his infectious smile that most assuredly just followed some quick witted quip that those of us less intelligent probably almost missed! He was quite a guy and it sure was hard to say goodbye.

If you knew him and were his friend too drop me a line....I'd love to share some stories.

Another photo for my collection of 'goodbye shots.' These whitetail twins wanted no part of my flashing lens. Our beautiful world, pass it on.

As I begin to say goodbye to winter, I think back at all of the "friends" that I've made in my own backyard. The most likely visitor to my feeders was the dark-eyed junco. Though in western Colorado they are year-round visitors, I'll miss them perching in the bare trees in the cold and sometimes snowy winter and I'll certainly miss them jumping around in the snow covered landscape in search of fallen seeds.

Though I will miss (a lot) the silence of the winter season, I'm also looking forward to the re-birth of spring. :-)

Thanks for stopping by to view. Happy hump day!
